BECAUSE YOU NEED TO KNOW - THAT'S WHY!

One thing that must be done after Christmas is Thank You notes and the changing of the calendar. So when I won 100 post cards I played around with it and did a Christmas picture of Skye to put in with my cards. So since they are post cards I decided to use them also to send out my thank you notes on. I mailed out 15 of them last week. (so what do I do with the other 50?)I am still working on the calendars, I just can't seem to get into the mood to do them. (because of my age and because I never was good with dates I now make sure I have everyones age or year they were born next to their name)

This next one is just kind of funny so I wanted to share it. The rooster plates sit in this wall rack about 335 days a year. The rack is right in a little nook in the hallway where Skye's water & food sit. So last Sunday my husband asked when I put up the Christmas plates. DUH, it was like around December 15!

This one I just wanted to share with you. The picture on the right is the hillside all summer long and the one on the left is our winter view of green. (it will get even greener as winter continues and we get more rain) Isn't it pretty? Okay the center picture and the picture on the right are of the morning moon on New Year's Eve day, I just love the moon. The dark moon picture is the moon on the evening of New Year's Day, that was the blue moon. I am sure you have heard someone say "Once in a blue moon!"

A blue moon is the "extra" full moon in years that have thirteen full moons. Most years have twelve full moons which occur approximately monthly, but in addition to those twelve full lunar cycles, each solar calendar year contains an excess of roughly eleven days compared to the lunar year. The extra days accumulate, so every two or three years (7 times in the 19-year Metonic cycle), there is an extra full moon. The extra moon is called a "blue moon." Different definitions place the "extra" moon at different times.
SO NOW YOU KNOW......

I've gotten worse and worse with my birthdays, forgetting more of them every year. I used to have a birthday calendar, but I misplaced it somewhere and now I really need one...

About 15 years ago, my sister made a family calendar with all birthdays, anniversaries, etc.....fortunately our family grows faster than weeds in grass, so that calendar is sooooo out of date! I'd love to do another one, but would spend months getting everybody's info and by then, well, we'd have grown even more!

My DD just finished her thank you cards for Christmas. It's something we started doing this year and hope to do every year.

YOu have such a pretty view out there! I'm glad you're of the mindset to do thank you's. It's really a lost art and so sad!

Thanks for the reminder that I need to finish my Christmas thank you notes! What lovely views and great pics of the moon. Funny story of the plates and your husband ... I have the opposite -- my husband notices everything. (Not in a negative way -- he is always so kind.)
