WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE

Our Host Joyce would love for you to join us!

1. What can the average citizen do to honor a military veteran and/or those currently serving?
Always respect them, shake their hand and say thank you.  Send packages to those who are serving. We recently got the address for a family member who is serving and we will be mailing him pkgs.

2. Besides a flag what is something you own that is red, white and blue?
I have a pillow and a very old pair of converse.

3. Does love really conquer all?
Honestly I would say No but I wouldn't want to face the world on my own without someone to hold me when I'm hurting.

4. Strawberry shortcake or blueberry pie?
Strawberry shortcake.

5. Do you share personal stuff with your hairdresser?
Well my hairdresser is a wonderful young married man and we do talk a lot but we stick to movies we have seen, places we have gone and his 1 year old son. Nothing too personal.

6. Does money lead to selfishness?
Yes I do believe it can.  I have seen it happen. Someone inherited a large amount of money. She would give her children $100. on their birthdays and then suddenly she didn't do it anymore. It was the strangest thing. It changed her totally.

7. What piece of furniture in your home most needs replacing or refinishing?
Nothing really looks bad that I can think of.  If someone was offering it to me then I would maybe let them refinish our dining room set. We definitely need new seat pads put on them. The dining room set is from my husbands grandparents and is close to 90 years old.

8. Insert your own random here.
I am missing my evening shows :(  I guess I should start reading in the evening but I am also learning towards going through my DVD cabinet and watching a movie (or 2) every night. I have a very large collection and haven't watched many of them in a very long time.

We had our dining room chairs recovered about 3 years ago. We went to a fabric store (local, not a chain) and my hubs was going to do it himself but they had such reasonable prices we left them there. They were done in 2 days and look great. It really gave the dining room a lift.

Have a great day!

Your random thought - I don't watch much tv but I do miss my evening shows too. I loved Dance With The Stars and did you watch Missing - I think the best show on tv. Watched Castle too. And I have a ton of movies too. sandie

I love your new background. So pretty.

I don't watch many evening shows ... although I've now discovered NCIS, so that's about to change. ;-)

So far everyone seems to prefer strawberry shortcake over blueberry pie.

Your dinning room is so pretty! I love older stuff as well. Money can do odd things to some people. Guess God knows I would be different so he keeps poor Ha...ha..

LOVELOVELOVE your dining room set! Gorgeous! I don't have a hairdresser because they cost too much down here- I can't get out of there for under $100! I think I would like to come into some money to see whether or not I'd be selfish. LOL

I am thrilled the summer rerun season is here. Now that work is done and I'm off I can finally catch all those episodes that were on too late for me to stay up.

I think that was great what you said about honoring our military, Debby. I know before I wrote letters for Soldier Angels; might have to start doing that again soon.

So true about shows, I'm thinking I'll be missing American Idol tonight :)

have a great day!

I think we should all do all we can to honor our vets and support our active military. I think living here in America, we tend to forget those who are fighting to defend our way of life. I think it's wonderful that you are sending packages to a soldier!

I absolutely love that dining room furniture! I like old family pieces and that is gorgeous!

I'm missing my shows too....been too hot to sit outside and enjoy...I think watching old movies is a good idea...once my allergies mellow out I'm thinking about walking...but there's that 9-10 hour needs filling!
Have a great Wednesday!

I'm missing the evening shows too. Movies and reading both sound like wonderful ideas to me. In fact, have done both recently.

I'm always up for a good movie night. Problem is I can't find any movies lately that I care enough about to watch. I have a few books sitting on my hope chest that I need to take the time to read.

Maybe love doesn't conquer all, but it helps.

I'm sad that my favorite tv shows are ending, too...but I've enjoyed watching the finales! Most of my favorites will be returning in the fall, thank goodness!

Love doesn't conquer all, but love is the only thing that has a chance of conquering anything.

Hi Debby! I am so behind on commenting on blogs. Your dining set is beautiful. My couch needs to go to the curb. The kids have trashed it!

Love is a good battle partner, but you're so right. It doesn't conquer all.

You're wise to keep your hairdresser topics to the not too personal ones.

What a great dining room....loved your answers...especially the converse response. It made me laugh.
