AT THE MOVIES

I saw 47 movies at the show in 2013 and I've already seen a few this year. When I counted them up I was really surprised. I also watched approximately 55 DVD movies from Netflix.

Here are the ones I saw recently. Now remember, I enjoy going to the movies and I am seldom disappointed so don't always take my word on it, you have to decide for yourself. I normally don't come down hard on a movie. To me seeing a movie on the big screen is almost always worth the price of admission!

We saw American Hustle which I really enjoyed. First of all the actors alone are worth seeing, then you get into all the costumes from the 70's along with the hairdos and it is quite a ride!
"A con man, Irving Rosenfeld, along with his seductive British partner, Sydney Prosser, is forced to work for a wild FBI agent, Richie DiMaso. DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia."

What can I say about Saving Mr. Banks....it was entertaining. I enjoyed it immensely. Of course the cast of stars was excellent and I just love Tom Hanks!  (Mark was not with me)
"Author P. L. Travers reflects on her difficult childhood while meeting with filmmaker Walt Disney during production for the adaptation of her novel, Mary Poppins."

I didn't have any expectations going in to see Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues other than knowing it would probably be silly and it was but it was also a lot more fun then we thought it would be. We laughed a lot and ended up really enjoying this movie.
"With the 70s behind him, San Diego's top rated newsman, Ron Burgundy, returns to take New York's first 24-hour news channel by storm."

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty was very enjoyable. He takes you on such wonderful adventures, some in his mind and some are real. I love Ben Stiller and I think this was a great movie for him to do. If you want to see a great review check out what Joyce had to say.  (Mark was not with me)
"A day-dreamer escapes his anonymous life by disappearing into a world of fantasies filled with heroism, romance and action. When his job along with that of his co-worker are threatened, he takes action in the real world embarking on a global journey that turns into an adventure more extraordinary than anything he could have ever imagined."

I remember seeing the original Danny Kaye one on TV years ago.
All of my pictures and quotes are from IMDb.com

I hope to see a movie or two next week. I want to see Nebraska with Bruce Dern. I watched him interviewed a few weeks ago on Inside the Actors Studio with James Lipton and it's been getting some great reviews.

I want to see The Wolf of Wall Street but it is 3 hours long, has a lot of inappropriate scenes I'm not sure I want to see plus they say the "F" word over 500 times. I was going to wait for video but I will make a choice after I see the Academy Award nominations. I love Leonardo DiCaprio and Scorsese makes great movies!

Have a Great Weekend!
Go see a movie.....

John and I have been married 21 years and have never been to the movies. I just can't sit still that long!!!!! I enjoyed your reviews of these.
When I was 9, my sis and her friend took me to see Wait Until Dark. That movie scared me to death for years!!!!

Hi Debby, Thank you for posting these reviews. Hubby and I usually go to the movies in the winter-catch Tuesday bargain matinees. WE haven't seen any though yet. I do want to see the new Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep movie. Have a great weekend.

Wow Debby....that's a lot of movies you saw in 2013. I love a good movie and your reviews are great. We recently saw Walter Minty and loved it and also Frozen. Although Frozen is a Disney flick, it was awesome and had adult themes. have a great weekend.

Thanks for the reviews, Debby. We rarely get out to a movie, though son did take hubby to 47 Ronins for his Christmas present. We have been renting movies from Red Box though, so I'll make note of your reviews of these movies and when they come on it, will suggest them to hubby/son to rent.

Have a great weekend!

I can't remember the last movie I saw in the theater. But I do stream some movies on Netflix.

I'm trying to think if we saw a movie at the theater this past year. We're not big movie goers but I did see probably 15-20 on Netflix while I was on my treadmill. Hope you are having a good weekend.

Oh my goodness: that many films! I would have loved to go so often to the cinema, but the ones I did see I was very happy with (Oz and Hangover 3 being the best). This year I will certainly go see the Muppets, other than that, I haven't a clue and actually rely on you for some nice reviews!!!

That's a lot of movies! I'm lucky to see 4 in the theater each year. We don't even watch as many on TV these days. I do want to see a few of those very much so thanks for the reviews.

I have seen Mr Banks and Walter Mitty as well and I agree with you...both excellent!

I love that you've seen all the most recent films! We used to go to the cinema every single Tuesday in the late 90s and early 00s. Sadly, now that we live in the UK, cinema is ridiculously expensive.

I've found that when I used to go often, I also didn't really judge too much but now that I go less often, I can take it quite seriously if a film is bad.
