AT THE MOVIES

I finally got out to see the movie Frozen (IMDb). I went on Saturday afternoon and it was delightful. Disney outdid themselves with this one. What a joy to see and I can't wait for it to come out on DVD so I can buy it! When you get a chance you should see it......
Fearless optimist Anna teams up with Kristoff in an epic journey, encountering Everest-like conditions, and a hilarious snowman named Olaf in a race to find Anna's sister Elsa, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom in eternal winter.

I went to see Labor Day (IMDb) and I thought it was a good story. It was a little slow for me but still interesting. We did however have one problems while watching but thankfully it was near the end and the finale was just revealed when the theater went black.

There was a power outage. We had to leave the theaters and nothing was coming back on so I was given a free pass. That did suck but I'm pretty sure I know the ending so I won't be going back to see it and will use my ticket for another movie.
Depressed single mom Adele and her son Henry offer a wounded, fearsome man a ride. As police search town for the escaped convict, the mother and son gradually learn his true story as their options become increasingly limited.

********

I went to see The Monuments Men (IMDb) with Amber. When I had seen previews for it I thought it looked very interesting. I must admit that I was never into school and history was not anything I ever cared about.

So I must admit to my ignorance here. I didn't know anything about the art work that was stolen and hidden. This movie was very interesting and I really enjoyed all the men in this movie. They are some of my favorites to watch.
An unlikely World War II platoon is tasked to rescue art masterpieces from Nazi thieves and return them to their owners.

It's about time I saw Captain Phillips (IMDb) don't you think! It came back to the show at the same time it came out on Netflix but it was down as long wait and it just wasn't coming. Then when I was ready to see it at the show they took it away.

Thankfully it came out on DVD and I got it for $10. I don't buy movies on DVD very often without seeing them first but I figured when I visit my father this summer he would enjoy seeing it and I actually base a lot of my purchases on that very point now!

Excellent movie. Tom Hanks was as wonderfully brilliant and always. What a story! There is something about being on the ocean out in the middle of nowhere that scares me to death.
The true story of Captain Richard Phillips and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years.

********

I didn't want to do it but I did. I had heard about all the filthy gross stuff about this movie and the fact that it is 3 hours long but I didn't think I could head into the Academy Awards without seeing it so I saw The Wolf of Wall Street (IMDb).

Hundred of totally naked women in a sea of ugliness. Why can't they wear panties!!! Take all of that away and I thought the movie and Leonardo were excellent. I enjoyed the story and his performance.

Ever since "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" I have been in love with him and he never fails to give an amazing performance. Now if you could go in and see this with blinders on that would be awesome.
Based on the true story of Jordan Belfort, from his rise to a wealthy stockbroker living the high life to his fall involving crime, corruption and the federal government.

Don't forget about the Oscar's on Sunday!

Of the films you have listed here, I have wanted to see Frozen, but it is only in Norwegian here. The Monuments Men is another I have wanted to see, but it will have to wait. Frozen I will probably get on dvd, since there isn't much by Disney that isn't good. I will wait for the Muppets film next month!

I'm one of those who can't sit still to watch a movie. I admire you for seeing these and I know you'll enjoy the Oscars.

Enjoy the weekend, Debby.

I liked Captain Phillips too.

Haven't seen the others you named, but I would like to see "The Monument's Men"

Have a great weekend.

Of all the movies listed I've only seen the Tom Hanks one and loved it. I can't wait to watch Oscars this weekend.....tough competition this year. I did see Dallas Buyers Club and Matthew and Jared performances were outstanding! Have a wonderful weekend!

I can tell you the ending for Labor Day if you are interested! I thought it was ok, but pretty unbelievable, Kate WInslett was excellent, though. Well, I loved history, but I don't think we were taught about the art being stolen. I really enjoyed it and I also like the actors that were in it.

I've seen all of these films, other than Wolf of Wall Street - that one is definitely not for me!

I just LOVED Frozen! On a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 10!

Captain Phillips was amazing, and I'd give it a 9. It makes me mad that Tom Hanks was snubbed by the Oscars - what an incredible performance!

I really enjoyed Monument's Men and Labor Day. I would give each of them a 7. I hope you get to see the very end of Labor Day when it comes out on DVD, because it's worth taking the time!

wow...I really appreciate your review of the movies. We almost went to Labour Day but the trailer seemed a bit slow and we like films that move fast. Got to say...my absolute favorite this year is Frozen. My oldest and I cried at the end. Loved it. Have a great weekend Debbie and again...great reviews.

Wow, you've been busy watching movies!
The only one of those mentioned that I've seen is 'Captain Phillips', and I thoroughly enjoyed that one!
Thanks for the reviews!

That was about it. Just a scene with them walking together. I don't know what "no reply" means or how to fix it. Can you help?
