WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE

Volume 218
Thank you Joyce :)
Come on over and play along.....

1. Have you ever had to wear a uniform? If yes, tell us more. Did you love it or hate it?

The only uniform I have ever worn was in P.E. in High School that looked something like this photo. No I didn't like it but I have to say it was better than what they had the boys swim in during P.E. pool time which was nothing at all! Can you imagine???

2. April 22nd is Earth Day. What is one thing you do personally to be a good steward of planet Earth?

First and foremost is recycling. Our large recycling bin is overflowing each week while our trash bin is not even a third filled. We have three different colored bins like this:

3. Brown rice, quinoa, or couscous...your healthy grain of choice? How often are one of the three on your menu at home?  Given a choice between white rice, brown rice, wild rice, and fried rice which would you go for?

Brown rice is my choice but I do like a microwavable package that I buy that is brown rice and quinoa mixed. I would say we eat brown rice a few times a month. Our favorite meal right now is sauteed cabbage with brown rice.

4. In your opinion, who has the best job ever?

I'm just going to say anyone who loves what they are doing, something they dreamed about which came true.

5. What's a situation in your life currently requiring patience?

Having our daughter living with us........enough said!

6.  Do you live your life around days of the week? Explain.

I imagine that I probably do only because I have been conditioned that way. I do laundry on Wednesday. I often go to the show on Tuesday because I get free popcorn that day with my rewards card.

I run errands and get a pedicure normally on a Thursday because I'm out bowling in the morning. The place I've been going to forever for pedicures is out that way because we use to live in the area. Friday is pizza and a movie night at our house. I normally do housework on Friday's too!

7. In a nod to the A to Z challenge happening around town this month, what 'R word' best describes your April?

Rat:  For the first time in 63 years of my life I saw a rat in our backyard. There has been a little bunny rabbit who has been driving Skye crazy in the yard for about a month now. Outside our back door their is an air conditioner unit with bushes surrounding it.

The bunny has been in there a lot so Skye runs around barking at it and trying to get inside those bushes. Almost every time the bunny runs out and she doesn't even notice it.

So on Sunday evening she was doing this routine with what I thought was the baby bunny and a rat ran up the wall and jumped on the roof.  I was a wreak! In my head I want to believe it is someones pet who ran away.......

8. Insert your own random thought here.

That is the good thing about living in the country: the likelihood of rats is so much lower than in a built up area like towns. Over here I only have to deal with mice and they enjoy themselves plenty out in the fields. When they are not being chased by Miss Oswin that is...

we get tree rats all the time, when we see one, bob sets the trap... palm trees are the home of rats...when it rains we can see them run across the power lines, never had one in the house though.

our whole life is on schedule, everything we do is at the same time, bed time, getting up, meals, YMCA, dogs go out at 4, 7, 10, 12, 3, 5 and 8.... and they know when it is time...we go with them so that gets us out in the yard all day. we do the floors on Saturday am when we step out of bed and have for 30 years, i clean bathrooms on Friday am, laundry has no set time except Sat i do the linens.

always love the graphics you throw in at the end. :) i love brown rice, too. the P.E. uniform was exactly like one i 'inherited' from my older sisters. by the time i got to P.E. mine was that dreadful stretchy material - striped on top and solid on the shorts with excess material that sort of 'folded over' to hide the elastic waist. but i wore my sis' old uniform around the farm to play outside and stuff. :)

I too hated those dreaded PE uniforms and it was my answer too. Ours looked just like your picture....only white.

I missed out on the PE uniforms. We just wore shorts and a t shirt from home.
I'll be your heart was pounding over the rat situation! I used to be terrified of them, but living in the country cured that :)
I loved your random thought. If only...

Oh gosh... I'm sure the rat was a surprise for you. I bet it was someone's pet - you don't usually see them in suburban areas like that.

We had PE uniforms but thank goodness they weren't one pieces. They were awful enough in their own right :)

I had a boyfriend who had to swim naked in PE in grade school. Weird. Our PE uniforms in high school were just white lacoste shirts and then burgundy track shorts when it was warm and track pants and jacket when it was cool. I liked them pretty well.

Those p.e. uniforms were funny! Mine looked like your photo EXCEPT it had white stripes going vertical!!!
Your cabbage and brown rice dish sounds delicious. Hope you are enjoying the day.

Seriously? They wore nothing? We wore a similar gym uniform to yours. It snapped kind of like a baby outfit : ) In London they say you're never more than 6 feet from a rat. I prefer not to think about that!

LOL, I would love to have a folder for the clothes :) Wouldn't that be neat? I think we wore the same gym clothes when I was in school for PE. Very unattractive but at least all the girls looked the same :)

I have a set routine for cleaning here now; it does help to get things all done :)

Hi Debby,

Thank you so much for the condolences!
My body feels so tired and worn out.
I am trying to read an interesting book, for a book review.
Having a hard time staying awake. It really is a good book, tho.

Just reading about that rat made my stomach queasy!

Presently, I am not doing meme's. Just book reviews :)

xoxo

Add a 'put awayer' to that laundry set and it's perfect! :-)

I had to wear a uniform in catholic school from K to 9th grade. Then I went to public high school and I had to wear those dreadful outfits like you posted.
I hate rats!! We get a lot of field mice but they're small. Friday nights are Mexican date nights in our house.
Have a great weekend!

First off my life would be awesome with a folder!! sign me up ... lol

I'm big with recycling at the house too, helps when you're the only one that picks up things around the house ... lol

I want a folder to go with my washer and dryer. It's the folding that gets to me.
