WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE

Volume  262
Thank you Joyce!

1. What does retirement mean to you? Are you planning for it, not thinking about it, looking forward to it, or dreading it?

I believe that retirement is a time to sit back and enjoy the ride. Travel, relax and enjoy each day to the fullest. Yes we are planning for it although I wish we had started planning earlier in our lives. I am looking forward to it because we will move and downsize which I'm a bit excited about. I am only dreading the fact that we will be living on a budget which is something I'm not used to.

2. It's International Guitar Month...do you play? Does anyone in your family play? What's a song you especially like to hear played on the guitar or a favorite song featuring the guitar?

No I do not play and no one in our family plays. I'm not sure about a favorite song so I searched for a list and found this one. I'm going with two from this list because they are definitely favorites of mine and I still listen to them often. "More Than Words" from Extreme and "To Be With You" from Mr. Big.

3. What's your comfort food?

You mean besides a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup???? I am going to go with Mushroom Risotto from Mario's Place and also some great Chicago Pizza's.  Aurelio's, L'Oven, Gino's Deep Dish and Lou Malnati's Deep Dish which we order frozen. I couldn't find my photo of Barone's Pizza in Downers Grove, IL.

4. What's one activity or area of your life where you absolutely never procrastinate?

I would have to say taking my medications. Not an activity but a must each day. I'm on 9 prescriptions.

5. Who does the grocery shopping in your house? Does your local store bag the groceries for you or is it a do-it-yourself kind of place? Do you like someone packing your groceries?

I do the smaller grocery shopping each week but Mark goes with me to do the big Costco shopping. Yes our local store bags the groceries. I don't mind people bagging my groceries but I do know that I can do a way better job then most of them do!

6. What's the coolest thing you've seen in nature?

I know that I have seen many cool things in nature but what first came to mind is when our dog Abby had 12 puppies back in 1980.
If your talking about something outside I will go with Old Faithful at Yellowstone National Park.

7. Share a favorite quote about home.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I'm assuming there are a few people out there who are fans of Person of Interest. It will be back on May 3rd for the fifth and final season on CBS. They will be airing the 13 episodes on Monday's and Tuesday's until June 21st.

I also want to apologize to everyone who is doing the A-Z Blog Challenge. Many of the people I follow are doing the Challenge which make it is very difficult for me to read everyone each day. I may pick one of two of yours to read but I don't think I can stop by daily.

Old Faithful and puppies giving birth are definitely very cool things. Wow, nine prescriptions are a lot to keep track of. I've never heard of that show Persons of Intrest.

thanks for the heads up on POI.. i love that show and sorry it is the last season. i saw the puppy thing back in 1973 when our collie mix had 11 puppies, she dropped them one at a time all over the back yard and took them by the neck into a hole she dug UNDER the dog house, not in where i had a nice bed.... i cried every time we gave one away.... i can't think of one thing in nature but i do love the crashing atlantic waves at Ormond beach. if a food has carbs that is my comfort food, pizza is my 2nd favorite, hamburgers 1st and macaroni and cheese at number 3.. look at my pics on my blog and you can tell that without being told..

Retirement does sound great. Downsizing sounds good in theory too. But moving does not.

If you love West Yellowstone you have been to within an hour of my home.

I love to grocery shop where I can bag my own groceries. And I love to go alone. It is relaxing to me.

Don't worry about visiting during A/Z Debby; it can be overwhelming. I will have to tell my husband about Person of Interest; he enjoyed that show. Yum on the pizza! I know what you mean, I have budgeted before and I can do it, but I prefer not to :)

I liked that song list; I'm going to share it with hubby; he might get some ideas for songs he'll want to work up to play :)

I love reading your answers. I too like that pizza - (thank you). And I love peanut butter and chocolate. I think retirement isn't all it is cracked up to be - teehee. I have to take my meds every day too!

After seeing those photos, I'm craving pizza...
Twelve puppies! That's a lot of puppies!
Great minds...you and I have the same quote :)

Pizza is definitely a comfort food for me. If I'm feeling moody I crave pizza : ) Those puppies! Ack! So cute!

I have a long way to go to even think about retirement although time is flying by with warp speed lately. Can you believe I'm doing the a to z challenge? Nothing like diving head first! That pizza looks awesome and I love Chicago pizza as well as thin crust. Those puppies are too cute for words! I love everything about Yellowstone. Old Faithful is actually not as faithful as she used to be. Her timing has slowed down and its not as high as it used to go. Isnt that true for all of us? LOL
Thank you sweet friend for your comments and visits to my blog the last few months when I barely posted but didn't reply back to anyone.

I really admire those who could pull off the A-Z Challenge...I just didn't have it in me. Maybe next year...we'll see. Nothing sweeter than puppies!

Thank you for that heads-up on Person of Interest. We have enjoyed that series and have the TV set to record the series. I will have to make sure it is programed. I didn't participate in the A-Z Challenge either. I just can't make that kind of daily commitment, but admire others who do.

I kinda live on a budget now but it will be even more tighter when we retire. We have a was so hoping to put back a lot of dough! I love me some risotto. I found a place in NY that was amazing! My last comment is HOLY SMOKES 12 PUPPIES! Definitely Abby was mother of the year!

I'm right there with you about downsizing. Except, doesn't it sound lots simpler than it is?
I, too, wish I'd begun planning earlier. 'Too busy burning the (entertainment) candle at both ends ... never dreaming the oil might run out someday. No regrets!

Hi Debby,
Oh, the puppies. I think that is a perfect answer. :-)
I am with you about downsizing. I just want less to have to clean. LOL
