DO YOU WANT MY OPINION......

I have never done an after the Oscar's post. Today I feel I should say something because let's face it history was made last night at the end of the show. What a fiasco that was! How in the world did that happen??

AND THE OSCAR GOES TO LA LA LAND......NOT!

If you didn't see it you most likely have seen something somewhere about the fact that the last award for Best Picture was given to the wrong winner.
I have however seen a lot of people who were involved being interviewed and they all seemed okay with it. Unfortunately the true winners did not have the proper time and attention that should have been given to them to accept their award.

So I saw 8 out of the 9 nominated movies and of course the movie that actually won is the one I didn't see. How did that happen? (I just wasn't able to go and then it was gone) I do however plan on buying it tomorrow when it comes out on DVD.

Let's get one thing straight, I have watched the Oscar's since I was a young girl. The first Oscar broadcast was on NBC March 19, 1953. I was born in 1951 but probably didn't watch as a young child and was most likely put to bed in those early years. But before my teens I do remember how important they were to my dad.

I am a fan and I am not going anywhere. That doesn't mean that I may not stop watching a certain person's movies if they pissed me off enough. Politics has always shown its face at the Oscar's, why would this year be any different. Actually we expected it more than ever.

I have to say that I loved the Oscar's last night. It ranks very high as being one of my favorites. Jimmy Kimmel was hysterical. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.

Yes he poked fun at Donald Trump and it is no secret that I voted for him but the jokes were done in good taste and I wasn't offended at all. Just because someone has voted for him doesn't mean we don't get upset with him at times.

We DVR'd the show but watched the tape live. I decided that if someone was going to make a political speech I would just pause the taping and FF after a minute or so.

We did not listen to the Iranian woman who had a speech prepared for the Foreign film winner "The Salesman." We knew it wouldn't be nice.

I heard that some of the commercials were political but I didn't pay attention to them at all. I maybe went potty or got another glass of wine during some of them. Most likely we were talking about the show during them.

I am extremely satisfied and people can rant and rave all they want. I saw what I needed to see from the standpoint of loving actors and their performances in excellent movies.

I was surprised with a few of the winner's because they didn't follow in the direction of the other award shows this year but I was ecstatic about that fact, especially when it came to Casey Affleck, his performance was amazing in "Manchester By The Sea."  Not to say that Denzel Washington's wasn't worthy, I was thrilled when he won the SAG award a few weeks ago.

Glad it was enjoyable. I know you love your movies.
it'll definitely go in history for the flub... which I think brings more attention & memorable moments for the movie.

I only watched the arrivals to see the dresses...and the opening musical number because I knew it was Justin Timberlake and I love that catchy little song. But, I am so over the fact that these actors have such a high opinion of themselves they feel free to sound off about politics at an award show. Makes me sick. However, I have heard that Jimmy Kimmell did an excellent job... that's good. Glad you enjoyed watching it.

there have been many flubs on other shows and like this one they will be repeated to death until I scream enough already. I saw the flub on GMA .. other than that I have no opinion because I have never watched them. that said I know you and many million others love them and watch all the movies and I say good for you.. keep watching those movies and the awards and then I will watch them when they hit prime or TV years after the making of them. I wish I had had access to a theater like you did, i think it is so cool you did.

PS I had another thought, if you and all the movie goers stopped going there would be no movies for us to watch on TV and Netflix and Prime and Hulu and all those other things. keep on watching... I mean who would pay these actors.. I had not thought about that until now.

I am not much of a movie watcher and probably couldn't list a dozen current actors or actresses. I haven't watched the Oscars in years but do like to read reviews about the dresses worn the next day. Your take on the show was interesting especially after reading that Kimmel did not do a good job. That's why its called an opinion I suppose.

I've never been in to watching any of the award shows. Any more I don't even know who a lot of the actors are

I agree with you Debby about it being a very entertaining night! Jimmy did a great job, I hope he comes back! Maybe we can be the bus tourists!! I was expecting more political statements and felt for the most part they weren't there. I was pleased with all the outcomes even the crazy final because I thought all of the nominees I saw were excellent. I haven't seen Moonlight yet either but now I will certainly go see it.

I enjoyed your review, Debby :) I did read about the "flub" about the best movie announcement. Its a neat tradition you have done with the Oscars and watching them :) Fun I bet to try to predict winners, especially if you've seen most of the movies, actors, and actresses in the running so to speak of.

I watched an hour of it then changed channels when one of the winners were talking about building the wall . I didn't want to hear the politics.

Hey I agree with what you said - my only additional comment is that maybe they were so worried about bashing Trump their mind was not on the Oscars. I am just sick of all the arguing. Love, sandie

Thoughtful review, Debby!
I'm so glad we were out to dinner and missed most of the rhetoric ... I'd probably have stroked out.
Then again, we've not seen any of the nominated films.

I wonder if that accounting firm won't lose their contractual agreement with the Academy.

I don't think I saw any of the nominated films and I certainly didn't see the Oscars: a bit too late for me!

I've never watched it and didn't this year either, as I'm not a movie person. I did see the 'mess up' over and over again on the news. Oh well.... we are all human!
