WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE

Volume 303
Click here to join in the fun!
Thank you Joyce

1. April is Lawn and Garden Month. On a scale of 1-10 what's the current state of your lawn and/or garden. (10=a showpiece, 1=send in the professionals). Tell us about any lawn or garden plans you have for this month.

I think we are good, I would give it at least a 9. We have no plans, already planted a few new Lavender plants in place of some plants that we lost with a frost. Most things remain the same all year long here in Southern California.

2. "Many things grow in the garden that were never sown there."~Thomas Fuller  What does this quote mean to you?

I'm not getting anything from it. It will be interesting to see what everyone says. I even searched and searched finding nothing to help me.

3. What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think about God?

Love

4. If we were chatting in person, how would I know if you were nervous?

I'm not sure, most of the time I feel very comfortable talking with people.

5. Do you like the color yellow? Would I find any in your home or wardrobe? Daffodils, tulips, roses, sunflowers, day lily, black eyed susan...which yellow bloom on this list is your favorite?

Yellow has been my favorite color since I was young. Yes I have a few yellow tops. We have a yellow dresser and night stand in one of our guest rooms. Sunflowers for sure, then tulips, daffodils and roses.

6. Flip flops or bare feet?

Bare feet for me! I do like Birkenstock sandal's. I do not wear what I consider flip flops with the thing between the big toe and second toe.

7. Tell us about any Easter plans, celebrations, or traditions you'll carry out this month.

No definite plans set. We might join Adam and Gabby with her family and Adam's best friend Jason's family. Adam's fiance Gabby is Jason's sister in law.

Normally we would make a prime rib dinner but with Amber and Dylan gone and Adam already having plans set we might just hang with them. Life changes and I'm not quite ready for the change.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

We don't get this kind of pollen
but I thought it was cute!

The good thing about renting a place in a house where the owner lives: no work in the garden. Whether I like the garden or not is not important. I don't have to do any work!

I love yellow, but do not particularly like yellow flowers for some reason. At a push it would have to be the daffs. They scream spring, even with the horrid weather we're having now!

Too funny with the cartoon. It is hard to give up traditions as things change in families. We just kind of go with the flow here these days.

CUTE cartoon at the end, Debby. LOL I'm not bothered by pollen too much either, but I have some family members who are. I can't wait to plant some lavender plants in pots and in our garden this spring (after June 3.) I love having fresh lavender, rosemary, basil, sage, parsley, etc. growing near the house. I hope you have a lovely week. Enjoyed your Hodgepodge.

We get that kind of pollen here, but we've had so much rain I don't think it's as bad as it usually is. It rains pollen, then rains rain and that kind of washes it away. Enjoy your Easter day! Adjusting to these big family changes is definitely a process. Sometimes I roll with it, and sometimes I want to dig my heels in and resist : )

Hope you have a great Easter!

I love our garden here in Southern California. The flowers are all in bloom. One of my favorite plants is the Lavender.

Your random thought fits perfectly here! It's just awful. I'm with you on the bare feet! I'm never ready for change when it comes but, once I adjust, it's hard to go back. :)

Added to my bucket list is a visit to your house and a few hours spent on your back patio. How's that for a self invite? And, we can both sit there barefooted.

We can definitely identify with your random cartoon about the yellow brick road! Pollen is awful here.
I hope you have a blessed and happy Easter, no matter how you choose to spend it. You are right, times are changing, that's why I'm giving up coloring eggs with the grands. I am thankful my daughter is willing to step in :)

Oh, I envy your poise (#4).
That Random Thought is a panic!!!

Since the prime rib dinner is still up in the air, perhaps Mark will take you out somewhere for a lovely, intimate dinner.

We live on the yellow brick road....pollen!! Lol

We get that kind of pollen! My poor Zoomie, ordinarily red, stays a yellowy-green this time of year, thanks to the pollen everywhere. I can't step outside without sneezing my face and assorted other parts off.

I was ill-prepared for these life changes, too. I understand how you feel. Somehow we'll get through these times, too, and then we'll get hit with the next batch of changes. I guess at least we won't be able to complain about being bored, eh? :)

Have a blessed week!

We do get that kind of pollen that Dorothy is talking about here. Sometimes our red car looks very orange with a green tinge. It is very rough on the allergies.

Oh my- my truck and my backyard has been covered in pollen . Fortunately the rain storms washed a lot of it. The pollen gives me headaches!
I am starting to like yellow much more. In fact, i painted a bench yellow a few weeks ago for my backyard patio.
I think the quote about the garden means that even weeds grow in a garden that are planted. Thats my interpretation anyway.

Love your response to #3 Debby.

I like yellow flowers, especially in my yellow dining room. No yellow clothes, though - it's not a color I look good in.

Bare feet for me all the way! And our lawn? It's a -5 right now. The snow is melting and it's time for a major clean up! Great Danes make a major mess over the winter. YUCK

If you see me picking my right thumb you'd know I was nervous...
