WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE

Volume 307
Thank you Joyce....

1. May 17th is National Pack Rat Day. Sidebar-should we be celebrating this? Hmmm...

I see no reason to celebrate this!

Are you a pack rat? Even if you're not a full fledged pack rat, most people have one thing or another they struggle to part with. Tell us what's yours.

I struggle with getting rid of a lot of things because I love them. I do not consider myself a pack rat, I just own too many things that mean the world to me.

2. What are two things you know you should know how to do, but you don't?

One would be going online with Mark, on his computer, to see how he pays our bills. I guess another one would be taxes, I haven't got a clue about them.

3. Do you crave sugar? Do you add sugar to your coffee and/or tea? Do you use artificial sweeteners or sugar substitutes? When dining out is dessert a given? Are you someone who has slain the sugar dragon, and if so tell us how you did it.

No I do not crave sugar. If I have coffee I do not put sugar in it. I do not use artificial anything. Yes dessert is a given when dining out.

Yes I have slain the sugar dragon. I gave up soda about 18 years ago and stopped eating other sweets a few years ago. You can do anything if you set your mind to it. I do let myself have a treat from time to time.

With all of the medications I take and issues with losing weight because of my COPD the best thing I can do is leave sugar alone and not become a diabetic! Eating healthy is the best thing we can do for our bodies.

4. What's a trend it took a while for you to come round to, but now you can't imagine living without?

I'm was going with streaming shows which I now enjoy but I imagine I could live without it. I was rather late in getting a smartphone and I can't imagine living without it although because I am older I certainly don't let it control my life like the younger generations have done.

5. What's a song that reminds you of a specific incident in your life? Please elaborate.

When I hear Somewhere Over The Rainbow I think of my mother. Her name was Dorothy and we played that song at her funeral. It isn't a sad memory for me because I love The Wizard of Oz!

6. Insert your own random thought here.

While we are on the subject....
isn't this adorable!

I am now wondering what the opposite of packrat is because whatever that is that is what I am. I have nothing in this house other than Bob and the dog that I could not walk away from and never miss. I'm with you all number for about the trend my answer would be exactly what yours is. And yes that last photo is beyond adorable it made me smile

That picture is so cute! I pay the bills here, I need to one day write down passwords, etc., for hubby. So much I have on auto withdraw. We just have someone else do our taxes. I understand how to do them, but rather get them done right so as to avoid an audit.

I use sugar in my tea. If I don't have any, I will get a really dry mouth for some reason. I hate sugar in my coffee though. Shivers are running down my back just thinking about it!

I enjoyed reading all of your answers, and yes, getting sugar out of our diets will help with so much else too! But basically I forgot everything I was going to say when I saw that last photo. Awwwwwwwww, that's so cute! Thanks for sharing it. :-)

Well said, Debby! We own too many things that mean the world to us :)
Paying bills on line is easy, taxes? Not so much.
Yes, that random picture is adorable :) I love it!

I had no idea there was a national pack rat day.

Good for you on the sugar. We recently drastically reduced both sugar and other carbs. But I still happily have a bit of dark chocolate every day.

That's good for the sugar. I gave up sodas before I had Caleb and did drink some Sprite for a while in there but haven't had them for nearly 2 years now.

That's a very sweet memory for Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

I said taxes too. And paying the bills is something I need to re-learn. Hubby has been doing that for the last several years too.

Sweet memory of Somewhere Over The Rainbow. I love that song.

What a cute photo! I enjoyed Wizard of Oz, too. I think it is sweet that song was played at your mama's funeral.

I think it is very sad that many people cannot even breathe without technology in their hands. I do have a smart phone, but to me it is just another camera. If I leave the house without it, I am frustrated because I can't take a picture, not because I can't see someone's most recent FB status or whatever. I know people with screen addictions and they cannot function without their phone or computer and being on it non-stop. I think they are missing an awful lot living like that and becoming more disconnected, not more connected.

I know losing weight would help me with managing my COPD, too, but I can't seem to do it at this point. I need to just put down the Diet Coke and unhealthy snacks like I did the summer that I almost died. That is the only way I'll be able to do it. Real exercise (beyond walking) causes an attack which leads to a panic attack, making matters worse. Plus, some exercise endangers me due to the complications of my hysterectomy. But, gaining weight makes everything worse, too. I hate no-win situations. Either I die from being fat or I die from exercising. In the box is still in the box. Yeah, I know. I need to get out of this line of thinking. We have added more fruits and veggies to our diet, to that is a good thing. Good luck to you in your efforts to live a healthier lifestyle.

Have a blessed day!

Stopping by to let you know how much I enjoyed your responses. Loved the photo and I love the Wizard of Oz and Somewhere Over The Rainbow. I am still trying to rid myself of all the stuff my parents hoarded over the years. For everything I keep I rid myself of something...or maybe two. Have a great weekend.

I love reading your answers. I agree about taxes and paying bills on line.
Debby I just gave up sugar on Monday - and I am about to die!!! I had no idea h ow addicted I had become to it. I hope it gets better soon. I have to lose weight and stop eating sugar for my health!
I have been having blog trouble - my computer is so hold it won't update chrome anymore. Therefore I don't think I am going to get Bloglovin anymore. So I had to get the blogs I do follow a different way. Sorry if I missed some. Have a great weekend. Sandie

That photograph is just too precious and very cleverly staged. Thank you for stopping by my blog page and for your kind comments about SWMBO. She is improving very little by very little every day. She is now able to plant flowers and herbs, when she loves to do, for a short while before she expends her allotment of energy and has to rest and recharge her batteries. Have a great weekend!
