WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE #645

Thank you Joyce.

1. St. Patrick's Day lands on March 17th. Do you believe in luck? Are there things you do thinking they'll  bring good luck or  things you avoid because they're considered bad luck?

I guess I believe in luck but more so in faith. No, there is nothing I do thinking it will bring me good luck. I do however pray. Obviously there are risks that I would probably not take.

2. Forest-lime-sage-mint-olive-emerald...what's your favorite shade of green?

Sage looks pretty nice to me.

3. In Ireland the meal on this day is often a hearty beef or lamb stew served with colcannon (mashed potato mixed with cabbage and leeks). In the US corned beef and cabbage is the more typical St. Patty's Day meal. Will you/did you mark the day with one of these dishes? Baked-fried-roasted-mashed...what's your favorite way to eat a potato?

No, we won't mark the day with this meal. However, corned beef and cabbage is okay with me. We eat a lot of baked potatoes, although mashed can be very good too.

4. What color of the rainbow best represents your personality/mood today? Tell us why.

Well yellow is my favorite color and they say it represents growth. I could use some positive growth with my health issues.

5. Which 'lucky' quote resonates with you. Elaborate.

'Luck is not something you can mention in the presence of self-made men.' E.B. White

'Diligence is the mother of good luck." Benjamin Franklin

'Luck is where opportunity meets preparation.' Seneca

'Shallow men believe in luck. Strong men believe in cause and effect.' Ralph Waldo Emerson

******************************
I kinda like "Luck is where opportunity meets preparation"

6. Insert your own random thought here.

We are expecting some hot weather. We haven't turned on our air conditioners yet. We always wait until the last minute because they are both 18 years old and know that one of these days they won't work. We have been very fortunate so far.

We saw James on Thursday night but I didn't get any pictures of him. He wanted Red Lobster for dinner. With my ankle I really didn't want to go out so we door dashed it. James loves shrimp.

Speaking of my ankle I will post something as soon as I have more information about what is happening.

I hope your week is going well.

  1. I'm like you I believe more in faith than luck. There have been several years where I've made Reuben sandwiches for St. Patrick's Day but didn't have any this year.
It's been a long time since I've been to Red Lobster. That was my husband's favorite place to eat.

  3. I am with James, I love shrimp. its been a long while since I had any. I don't believe in luck, I think we have to make our own things happen. Now I want shrimp. ha ha, I can smell them frying.

  4. I haven't been to a Red Lobster in a long time...they seem to have disappeared in a lot of places, but we have other seafood places that we like to go for shrimp. Sometimes you just need to have some good shrimp. Sounds like James has learned that already at his young age! LOL. I am sorry about your ankle, and I hope you can get some help for it soon. I like sage green too, but I also like other shades of green, but mostly the darker shades or teal, which is kind of blue/green. I don't believe in luck either, but I do believe that God supplies all my needs and even some of my "wants". I have faith that He will take care of everything...and luck is just a word that really has no substance in reality. Have a blessed and wonderful rest of your week.

  5. Hi Debby,
I am so happy you got to spend time with James.
And you have some answers regarding your ankle.
    I also picked yellow.
I will say stay cool to you ~ you will need to say stay warm to me ~ we woke to NEGATIVE 6 degrees.

  6. Danny made shrimp and grits for us just last night, Debby. That's one of my favorite dishes! I'll go with faith, not luck. Praying for you!

  7. I was talking to my sister who lives in Huntington Beach yesterday and she said it was 90 degrees and that she had to turn her a/c on. Yes, faith is better than luck. :) Hope the heat wave doesn't last long!

  8. Yes, we are in for a Hot spell too here in the Sacramento valley.
I'm going to tough it out with the AC since it needs new batteries to work properly and well its a long story so I won't bother you with it.
I'm glad you could see James and have shrimp delivered to your home. I sure hope you can get that ankle thing fixed and your health improving.
Definitely Faith and prayer, not Luck.
I do like Sage and mostly all shades of green. It is a flattering color for me.

  9. WOW(!) on those 18 year-old a/c units. I don't think newer models are manufactured to last more than 5-7 years.
Yellow is one of my favorite colors, too. I didn't know it represented growth, tho. As long as it doesn't mean my dress size, I think that's neat!

  10. Hello, Nice to visit you today!
We had our A/C unit replaced recently in the new house. Hopefully we will be ready for summer with it!

  11. It's been cool and gray here today and I'm ready for spring time temps. I think we warm up this weekend. Shrimp is one of my favorites too and I'm glad you had time with James. Hope you're getting some answers about your ankle. Have a nice week Debby!

  12. It's been hot up here, as well. I did turn on AC around 6 pm yesterday as the house was hot. Glad you got to see James. We no longer have a Red Lobster - it was one of many restaurant casualties after the pandemic.
I don't do luck. But I once heard the statement that ""fate is the hand we're dealt, but destiny is how we play our cards".

  14. We had some very warm days but I'm holding off turning on the air conditioner. Not that we needed it this week; we had snow on Monday (but it didn't stick). I've that the heat on all week!
