WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE #553

Thank you Joyce.

1. Growing up, at what age did you think you'd become an adult? At what age did you actually become an adult?

I never gave being an adult any thought that I can remember. However, I believe after I graduated from high school and got a full time job I became an adult. Then at 21 I got married to Mark in June, 1972. We didn't start having a family until 1979 when Adam was born and then Amber was born in 1981.

2.  What's a favorite item you've bought this year?

I can't think of a thing. Probably something for James that he loved. Nothing like making him smile!

3. May 28th is National Hamburger Day...are you a fan? If so, how do you like yours? When was the last time you had a hamburger? Besides the backyard grill, what's your favorite place to go for a burger?

Yes, I am a fan and we made hamburgers on Memorial Day. However, I am trying not to eat red meat too often. I guess our favorite place might be Five Guys and I get mine in a bowl without a bun.

4.  How have your priorities changed over time?

Spending time with my children is my #1 priority and of course spending time with James.

I really don't need this big house. I love it but if I can't take care of it myself, what is the point. That often brings me down. I don't want a maid, I want to be able to take care of things myself. I have pride.

5. What's one thing on your June calendar you're really looking forward to?

One thing I'm looking forward to is a calendar not full of appointments, although I do have a few. The other thing is happening on Thursday which you can read about tomorrow which will take me into June.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

  1. a big beautiful hamburger has been my favorite food for most of my life. I loved Burger King first, then Wendy's, then Culvers and I like Five Guys bob doesn't. the first 3 are not fit to eat now, they all appear to have changed to fake burger. Culvers was our favorite but after they opened back up after Covid, it is not very good. that leaves me with cooking them on the stove in the kitchen. Bob has stopped grilling and I love them grilled. I have cut back from one a week to twice a month..

  5. Growing up I never thought about being an adult, it just happened.
I haven’t bought much this year.
I like hamburgers but mostly only homemade burgers.
I think it is normal for our priorities to change over time as we change over time.
Must be my youngest daughter’s 35 birthday.
Be beautiful inside our hearts, with the lasting charm of a gentle and quiet spirit which is so precious to God.

  6. Great post! When we were looking for our forever home, we looked at some impressive houses and the first thing that crossed my mind was that I would be spending all my time cleaning. I'm so glad we chose a smaller house. I enjoyed reading your answers.

  7. We haven't made any big purchases this year, but we do need new vehicles, and may have to buy both this year so that will be huge. I can't say it will be my favorite : ) Have a nice week Debby!

  9. I love your random.
I hate all the time it takes to clean our home, I do know I want to downsize in future.

  10. Love your image for #6; that's good advice and something you learn to do better as you become an adult!

  11. Guess what - we are having hamburgers tonight - I am going to smash them! lol
An adult - I don't think I thought about it either - it just happened.
I do think that what was important to us when we were young - does change as we age.
