Thank you Joyce..

1. At the end of every year (or at least since the mid-1970's) Lake Superior State University posts a list of words they think should be banished from the Queen's English for misuse, overuse, and/or general uselessness. You can read more about the decision making process here, but this year's list includes-

cringe, game changer, era, dropped, IFKYK (If you know you know),
sorry not sorry, skibidi, 100%, utilize, and period.

Which of these words/phrases do you use regularly or even just every now and then? How many did you have to look up? Which of these words would you most like to see banished from everyday speech and why? Is there a word/phrase not on the list you'd like to add? If so do share, then tell us why.

So I just looked up "skibidi." I'm sure I have said "100%" and maybe "period", I don't see anything wrong with them. The rest can be banished.

2. Your favorite soup? Do you make this one yourself or is it from a can?

I like a chicken noodle soup. I have it from a can.

3. How do you feel about winter? What's one winter activity you look forward to?

Winter is okay. Our weather isn't too bad except when we get Santa Ana winds. It just make a mess of the yard. I can't think of any winter activity that I look forward to.

We do have Adam's birthday coming up.

4. The Pantone color of the year for 2025 is mocha mousse (sample pictured here). What say you? The website describes it as 'a warming, brown hue imbued with richness. It nourishes us with its suggestion of the delectable qualities of chocolate and coffee, answering our desire for comfort'. Is this a color I might find in your home or wardrobe? Is it one you might add in some big or small way in the year ahead?

It looks like a nice color. We have one accent wall in Mark's office that looks similar. I don't have it in my wardrobe.

In a similar, but not really vein...if I were to offer you a choice right now of either a cup of mocha or a cup of mousse which would you say yes to?

I think I would say yes to the mousse.

5. Which of the following winter related idioms can best be applied to your life in some way right now? Choose one, then tell us why you chose it.  "snowed under, on thin ice, tip of the iceberg, chill out, break the ice, snowball effect, not a snowball's chance in hell, get cold feet, the cold shoulder"

Right now I am feeling snowed under. I have an appointment today (Monday) to check how my cataracts are doing. I made this appointment because I thought I had the time to possibly have them removed early this year but things have changed.

I went to my pain management appointment last week. So I need an MRI. I will be getting a shot which they will call me about. Then I have another appointment scheduled for 2 months when we will talk about a possible shot in my spine. On top of that I have the new referral for my ankle. I have to call and make an appointment. Too much going on and I'm not sure I have time to give to having my cataracts removed at this time.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Papa, Grandma and James playing Bunko Friday night at Adam and Gabby's. Adam made another delicious dinner. I didn't get a photo of it.

Have you ever played Bunko. This is a game Mark played with his grandmother growing up. I played Bunko for 16 years with a group of 16 ladies. We would play once a month and we would each take turns hosting it at our homes.

So the house finally looks back to normal after Christmas. However, I have a bedroom at the front of the house that has Christmas sitting on the bed. Maybe by the time this posts everything will be packed up and put away.

  4. I'm praying for you! I've never played Bunko but have a few friends who play. Every time I hear "Santa Ana winds" I think about the movie The Holiday. :) Sounds like you're staying busy (probably busier than you'd like to be).

  8. I have never played Bunko, but it sounds like a fun game, Debby. We always play backgammon after dinner in the evenings - that's something Danny and I both enjoy. Such a sweet photo, too! I'm so sorry, though, that you have so many medical decisions to make soon. Blessings!

  10. I love Bunko. But you have to play with a huge group don't you? You guys are so cute.
I like most of the words myself.
I heard the wind, and fires are horrible out there. Hope you are okay.
I have to have an MRI to see where to put a shot for pain too - I am claustrophobic - have you had one before?

  11. I've never played Bunko - I'm not much of a game player, although my husband loves games, and I should play them more often.
I woke up yesterday morning to hear of the fires - I thought of you. Just watching the news footage gives me anxiety from past fires up here. My husband tells me to stop watching but I feel compelled to. I don't know why. It all makes me sick. I do hope you are safe. I'm praying for those who have lost homes, and for everyone in the area because I know, that when a fire comes through, even if your own house is safe, it effects the whole community.

  12. I've never played Bunko, and would have to look it up. But it sounds like fun with James, and that's what's really neat...seeing you all playing with him together is so wonderful. Great memories! Glad to know you are safe where you are from the fires. I saw your post on FB. OUr cousin just texted us and said they got their miracle and their house was spared. They evacuated last night, and hope to be able to go back home tomorrow if the way is clear. Yes, you have a lot of stuff going on. I hope you get the medical help you need and will feel better very soon. Take care my friend.

  14. I played bunko for a while with a group. It was fun but it was also at a time when everyones kids were young and the group dissolved because of kid commitments.
I have to admit I am so tragically unhip I had no clue what skibidi was or meant. I will not miss it if it is removed.

  15. Are you safe? Been thinking about you and everyone down there. Friends and family in Thousand Oaks, Carson, Long Beach and San Pedro. They’re all good so far.

  16. Oh my, you have a lot of medical issues on your plate. Prayers for getting through them and answers and relief.
Praying you are still safe from all the fires exploding everywhere. Its so sad. I can hardly watch the news it upsets me so much. I know too many people living down there.
    Hugs

  17. I have played bunko. In fact, we have played it at the church for fun for the couples. Lots of fun! Such a sweet picture of James playing the game. I wish my husband was more into games. I have a Switch that I play though, so that lets me play against other players if I would like. Take care with all the medical things going on for you. Stay safe!
