I'm sure you all are getting tired of my health issues. I know I am tired of having them. Here's what I know from what I posted on Wednesday Hodgepodge.
Saw my lung doctor on Monday the 23rd of February. I have had issues since the Dupixent, which I stopped and then I started to feel better. Then I started going downhill again. I did the 5 day steroids and only felt better the first 2 days.
I was seeing her because of some blood work which was better than a few months ago. It was for my Immunoglobulin levels. So that was good. Will go again in April for the blood work again.
I ended up getting a steroid shot which is taking a while to kick in. So along with my other issue which I will share next, it's been hard for me to do much of anything. I am so tired of watching TV and not being able to accomplish my housework.
Also, we are watching James Saturday and part of Sunday. I just want to feel good for that.
I saw my podiatrist doctor on Tuesday February 24th. I've been getting a steroid shot every few months and so far my last one didn't do anything. My right ankle is in pain when I walk. So I am going for an x-ray next week to see if he can see a lot of debris at the ankle.
There is one thing we can try before doing an ankle fusion. They go in and clean out the debris and some people have a good experience and others don't. It is a fairly simple procedure and you can walk out of the hospital that day.
The ankle fusion is pretty serious and you can't bend your ankle anymore. Also, you cannot walk for six weeks following the surgery. So even if the other procedure works for me, it is just a matter of time before having the ankle fusion.
He does not like the ankle replacement surgery so he doesn't do it but could recommend someone to me. So at some point something will be done and I am not looking forward to that.
I have also appreciated all of your prayers for me that you mention in your comments on my posts. Thank you so much.
Love,
Debby
P.S. I had something very unusual happen to me on Thursday. I woke up and both of the ankles hurt. It was painful to walk. I couldn't figure out what it was about. I did a lot of research and it has to do with a low potassium level. One of my medications can do that, along with the steroids. So I am doing all the things they recommend for that and praying that by the time you read this that my ankles are doing better.
I'm so sorry that you are still having so much trouble. I know what you mean about getting sick of watching tv. I have been doing far too much of it lately because I get winded easily doing too much activity so I spend more time than I care too sitting on the couch watching tv.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I have been trying to stay away from doctors I am right there with you in being tired of health issues. I am in my 80's after all but my mind still wonders why I can't seem to easily do things. I do understand your frustration.
ReplyDeleteIt's really something we don't think a whole lot about until it's upon us. There is so much to maintain and deal with in terms of our health as we get older and I find it wearing. I know for you that's doubly so as you've had such a lot going on. I understand your frustration and hope you get some relief for both your lungs and your ankle. Take care. It's okay to write about it. This is life in this season and I think writing helps, as do the many prayers said on our behalf.
ReplyDeleteYou've certainly been put through the wringer, Debby, with all these issues. I'm glad that you caught us up on where you are at the moment so we can better pray for your immediate needs. Be blessed!
ReplyDeleteDebby, I'm so sorry for everything you go through with your health. I do pray things improve. I've only had 3-4 steroid shots in my life after learning i
ReplyDeletet does more damage than good. I have just learned to manage pain without. I'm used to it now. It's not a cure its purely just a bandaid. Frankly, I'd investigate the more permanent approach (surgery) rather than living in that pain cycle and shots. It used to be, Doctors wouldn't give you more than 2 shots in a year - after that they recommended pain management. My doctor still advises against the shots.
I'm glad I chose today to read blogs because now I can pray for you. 🙏
Of course my dear friend I will continue to pray for you and the pain. Praying you can find the right balance of meds and pain issues. Sometimes I think that meds fight against each other. Praying for the right balance.

I've nothing to offer but my prayers -- but you've got them!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry -- please keep us informed. Much love -- still praying for you. ❤️
ReplyDeleteMy friend, I am sorry to read of your health issues. Please know I will pray for you for healing and for peace.
ReplyDeleteI am concerned about you and I will be praying. I am a little concerned about all the steroids you are taking. I am so sorry you have all this.
ReplyDeleteI came to check on you, since I am back after a week off. so sorry all this is still hanging around and new pains also. I do pray you will not have to have the fusion. that would be awful because of not being able to walk properly. Praying you will get better soon
ReplyDeleteHi Debby,
ReplyDeleteI am late to this post, do know I am praying.
