So where is your husband and dad when you need them! (#*&@$%) It was right out the back door. It was really small, this is a close up but never the less I was hysterical. This is the first snake in the yard since we got Skye in April and the first snake since last September. I was able to get it on the end of a rake and flung it over the fence down the hill. Took me awhile, it was really hissing at me. I called my husband and cried like a baby. I said that their is no way I want to continue to live here with all these creatures. I can't risk this with my precious little Skye.
Currently we put her on a leash early morning and after dark so we are close by and have control of her if we see the night shift creatures! Now I am going to have to leash her all day long. We also have hawks, owls, frogs, coyote and saw a bobcat once. Last year I saw a tarantula and when I took my dad out the main entrance last week, several miles from my house, I saw one walking across the road. I couldn't get a picture! So I came home all worried about the darn spiders and then the freaking' snake today. I could have a break-down I am so freaked out. I can't stop crying. Please keep Skye's safety in your prayers.
FYI: If your looking for some treats to make for your kids on Halloween go over and check out my friend Sarah's blog.

This is hilarious... I can totally picture you freaking out! You poor thing... I don't think I could have even flung the snake over, I would have ran in the house and locked myself in! You're so brave! I will definitely be keeping Skye's safety in prayer!
P.S. Thanks for sharing my site! :)
Debby, Sorry about the snake. I hope you are feeling better. Blessings,
You did better than me. We had a dead one a few months ago and I couldn't move it. It was just too gross. I made my son pick it up on a hoe and take it across the road and toss it in the woods.
That snake looks TERRIFYING!!! I would have yelped in terror, climbed a tree and stayed there until someone removed it. I wouldn't have been able to pick it up even with a rake or a hoe. *shuddering* You are SO brave!!! Even though you cried, you STILL took care of the problem!!
Can't stand snakes! Luckily we don't get poisonous ones here that often, but we live by open space with a stream so we do get coyotes and other things that make me keep a close eye on my Chica when she goes outside.
Holy cow where do you live woman???!!! You have way too many critters out there - I DO NOT like snakes. Ick! I would have screamed!!
Eeek! I would be so so so so scared! Maybe that California livin is not all its craked up to be?? :) :)
Time to get a litter box for the doggy?

Oh no, sweetie. I'm glad you managed to get rid of it!
I'm freaking out & I don't even live there. EEEEEEK
SSSSSSSNNNNNNAAAAAAKKKKKEEEE!
I would definitely freak out if I opened my door to that. We get spiders and I hate them.

I don't do snakes! I can do spiders at a distance, I mean my choice of weapon at a distance. I can do dead mice, ya know, throw the trap out, but I don't do snakes.. I HAVE GOOSEBUMPS JUST THINKING ABOUT THEM!!!
It is in my contract,,,,, I don't do snakes, not even big worms...
Time for a contract....
Oh girl! I screamed right now too! Yikes! I so would be staying in!
Way to go! I'm impressed! Nothing to be afraid of with the way you handled things, right?
Sorry you had to meet up with a snake. Hopefully that's the last you see of him!

I'm not a fan of snakes either, so you're kind of freaking me out with the picture :) Congrats to you for getting it off your yard. That was brave!!

Yuck! I hate snakes too, but I haven't seen one at our place yet. Your reaction to them reminds me of my mom. She screams then she can't breathe and freezes up. She doesn't get better until they are dead!
I USED TO HAVE A PET TERANTULA AND AFTER 2 YEARS SHE ESCAPED SOME HOW. MY SON WAS SCARED SHE WOULD GO DOWNSTAIRS IN HIS ROOM AND I TOLD HIM NOT TO WORRY FOUND HER 6 MONTHS LATER AND SHE WAS DOWNSTAIRS IN HAILEYS PLAYROOM THAT HAILEY AND I HAD CLEANED DAYS EARLIER, SO MAYBE SHE WAS IN JUSTINS ROOM. DONATED HER TO THE NATURE CENTER. AS FOR SNAKES THAT WAS A BIG ONE! WE HAVE GARDEN SNAKES AND THE NEIGHBORS GET ME SO I CAN STICK THEM IN MY YARD. HOW DIFFERENT WE ALL ARE HU?
I WILL PRAY FOR SAFETY FOR YOU PRECIOUS DOG! IT WILL BE OK.
you must protect skye at all costs! i suggest moving!
