UPDATE

Murphy did not leave yet! We went on Sunday to Spectrum and got a new DVR. I got the same one because it took me awhile to get to learn it. It was way different from the one from 15 years ago.

So we came home, got it all hooked up and I set the programs that I could set. Since some shows that I watch are not on at this time I have to wait to set them later. Thankfully I found my paperwork from 2 years ago with all of my shows listed on it with the channels they were on. All was well with the world until Monday morning.

Something was not right, the TV and DVR were not syncing for some reason. The TV said "no signal to be found." Then I left the room and was talking to Mark about it. When I went back to my office cable was on and it all seemed okay.

Well it wasn't. I ended up calling cable on Tuesday and they had someone out that evening at 8 pm. The guy was great. He checked everything you could possible check inside and outside. Took him over an hour and he decided it was the HDMI cable between the TV and the DVR. It seemed to be okay. It connected each time he turned it on and off. All was well with the world until Wednesday.

I leave early in the morning on Wednesday for bowling and I don't turn on the TV. So it was around 2 pm that I turned it on and guess what.....no communication between the TV and DVR. Eventually it came back on but then it happened again.

I immediately called Spectrum and they had someone out right away. Now this guy was someone they send out to check the work of the guy who was there the day before. So this guy checked everything the other guy did. He found a few mistakes but it was still unclear what was going wrong.

Well to make this short I will say that the issue ended up being the new DVR box, it was defective. So he had one with him and installed it and so far it is working great. The TV and DVR are responding with each other. I spent the next few hours putting setting my programs.

So yesterday was a good day and today we get to see James. Originally we were not seeing them this weekend, they had other plans, but Adam texted me on Wednesday asking if we could babysit Friday night so you know how happy that makes me feel!!!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

IT'S BEEN ONE OF THOSE WEEKS

What a week I have had. I hate to come here and bitch and complain but I need to get it out. There have been some good things too, like my breathing with the steroids shot has been good although I have had some issues with swollen ankles.

I was able to go to bowling on Wednesday and beside the regular bowling we had to make up a week that we missed so I bowled six games. That was a lot for me but I did it.

I think I may have mentioned a new prescription that I may try although I am pretty much starting to change my mind on it. The doctor had mentioned some side effects and I'm not one to read them ahead of time. However, since she mentioned them I decided to do a little research. Didn't like what I was reading.

Just by chance I went onto my OptumRX page to check on something. OMG, I'm glad I did. They were processing the prescription for for over $3,000!!! Yes, you read that right. I immediately called and I got it cancelled.

So guess what??? I'm already in the so called "donut hole" with Medicare. It really sucks when you have to use medications that have no generic. I have 3 and this new drug would be #4. I just can't win. Normally on these particular drugs I pay $134. for a 90 day supply. When I go into the donut hole the cost goes to a little over $400 for each one.

Okay, so enough on the drug stuff......

Our cable went out for 11 hours on Friday night. I know to many of you it is not a big deal but it can be for me. We didn't have any internet at all. So other than taking out a DVD to watch, there was nothing else. Thankfully it finally came back on and all seemed well with the world.

Well that of course was until Saturday night when my DVR started to squeal and flash. I unplugged it several times and tried a few different things but it will not reboot. It is basically dead so we are going to exchange it today.

Now for me this DVR isn't even 2 years old and it took several months to learn the new one after having the old one for about 13 years. (Mark still has his old one. It's been 15 years) You have to understand that I have about 60 preset programs which will all have to be put into a new one.

Also, many of the shows are not currently on so you have to search to see if there might be a rerun somewhere and then you can set it from there. This is a huge project and I'm so frustrated over it. I am working very hard on remaining calm. However, Murphy can leave the building!!!!

Thankfully I found my list from two years ago. I was turning in my old DVR because I was having some issues. So I took pictures of the pages of things that were set to record. Of course now there are some new shows since then but I will get it worked out. I'm trying to remain calm. We will be going to Spectrum today.

I do want to say that I have no right to bitch about any of this because I know in my heart things can be worse and I also know that our world is in a terrible place right now. My prayers goes out to the Ukraine. 🙏

R E A L L Y ! ! ! !

So if you read my post from Friday you know that I was heading to the doctor for a recheck on my injury from last Tuesday. Well that didn't happen, I had to cancel.....

Let's start with the morning at 7:00 am when Mark was leaving for work. We had super strong Santa Ana winds Friday morning. He opened the back door to go outside with the dogs and then I heard something crash.

I went into our bedroom to see what it was and as it turns out the opening cover to our attic, which is in our closet, fell to the floor creating a bit of a mess. The suction must have done it but that has never happened before. So Mark got it back up and taped it just in case and I vacuumed up the mess.

I was on my computer for awhile, then I got showered and started to get ready for my appointment at 10:00 am. Had a huge blowout argument with Amber which is not a great way to start our day! Then I went into the garage and my car was dead! ($%&#)

So I called AAA to come out to the house. I also called the Mini dealer to see if they had an idea of what it could be. Possibly the battery or starter. Long story here about my battery but I'm not going to go into that now other than tell you that we put a trickle charger on it often because I don't drive often enough to keep it charged with all the computers on board.

Then I called the doctor to cancel my appointment. AAA showed up and yep it was a dead battery. Just so you know they can't replace the battery on a Mini. Mini has their very own special shaped battery which is very expensive. So he jumped my car and I headed over the the dealer.

So after 3 1/2 hours at the dealer I was on my way with a new battery, new wipers and one recall taken care of. I have one more scheduled for November 11th. What a day I had. I actually wanted to stay home on Friday to get ready for our trip to the beach. By the time I got home all I wanted to do was have a glass of wine, Friday night pizza and a movie!

What I did do on the way home was stop over at the Urgent Care and asked if they could do me a favor. I just wanted them to look at my wound and tell me if it was looking okay, healing like it should. I told them about my morning and having to cancel my doctors appointment. They did look at it and said it was looking good. I was so thankful.

Then I ran over to Sprouts because they have their Home Run Inn pizza at half price and wanted to get more for our freezer. These are a Chicago pizza and truly one of the best frozen pizza's around. We stopped ordering delivery pizza about six months ago and are really saving a lot of money buy buying these at Sprouts!

When I got home Mark was getting home too. He told me he got an email from Amber with a picture of the pumpkins they carved. They were all moldy and one was leaking all over Mark's lovely cabinet in his office. (I had them on foil) I could not believe my eyes!!! So there was another mess to clean up and no pumpkins to put out for Halloween Saturday night.

Anyway it was one of those days......but I am thankful for all the blessing God has given to us. Now let's hope things are going well on our beach trip. I'll let you know.......

MURPHY'S LAW

Murphy's Law:
Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.

This happened the morning we were leaving to go out of town.

Getting ready for our flight Mark took his shower and about a 1/2 hour later I took my shower which happened to be a bit on the chilly side. So Mark went into the garage to check our hot water heater. For some reason it decided to stop running.

Now I know you are going to think this is crazy because Dylan and Amber have filed for divorce but we asked him if he would stay here with Amber while we were gone. She has been having a difficult time with her emotions.

They are together several times a week anyway, he stays here several times a week and are always seeing each other so it wasn't a big deal to us to have him stay here. He is still our son in law and we do love him.

Anyway back to the story....the heater would not light. There is a button you can press to get the electronic ignition to light.

So we woke them up because I thought maybe Amber would want to get her shower in before the water gets too cold. We also found out that Dylan was going to be around so we could call for a repair.

Luckily it did light before we left so they had warm water and were able to continue to light it after that. We called to make an appointment but they never called back and we had a flight to catch.

I will try to make this short. They decided not to have anyone out because they just got up earlier to light it before they showered. Mark set up an appointment for Monday when we would be home from our trip.

In the meantime my dad talked to them a few times and apparently on Sunday my dad told Dylan to go out and bang on the heater a little bit. Sometimes there is carbon which needs to be loosened. Anyway he did it and the water heater has been working ever since.

So the repair man did came out but at this point and time we don't need a repair. We hope it stays this way because we are not looking forward to buying a new water heater for $2,000! You can have them only repair the ignition part of the water heater but it is $400. and has no guarantee at all because it doesn't always work.

The water heater is only 9 years old and it is a good one. The one in our last house lasted 17 years and even then we never replaced it because we moved.

One thing we know for sure is that our heater gets drained daily because of Amber. Longest showers ever and usually two a day! We never have to drain it for sediment buildup because of her.

Murphy's Law never fails to show up at the most inappropriate time....
