POTLUCK
Well we did it, we went to see Breaking Dawn on Tuesday evening. I did not know what to expect from the movie other than what they show in the trailer, I have not read the books. Well I loved it! I was told it was a little bloody which is why I don't follow many vampire things and have enjoyed Twilight because it hasn't been bloody. I did okay with the blood. Mark and I haven't been to a full price show in many years, we like to go for matinee price. Well guess what? 60 is the age for senior citizen at the movies...who knew! I'm not saying I have accepted being 60 yet but we did get a low ticket price :)

Your not going to believe this. Well maybe you will, I still have my Christmas cards from last year that I didn't go through yet! When I receive cards I look at them but don't really read each of them, especially the letters. I always read them after Christmas, been doing that for years. Well this time I am most definitely late in doing that. Gee I hope I didn't miss something important in someones letter!!!

BITS AND PIECES
We have a few cable premium channels and I love Starz, it's my favorite. Well they do this thing On Demand where they have early premieres before they actually come to the channel. This week they have Gnomeo and Juliet. I haven't watched it in it's entirety but the Gnomes are so darn cute. You actually think they are the little porcelain figurines talking!
Here are some pictures to share with you. I actually didn't take many at the apple orchards. Also I really don't have a picture of Skye from Halloween. As you can see with the t-shirts they were running small. I had bought Skye and Charlie costumes on clearance after Halloween (online) and the mediums (which they wear) ended up being small on them and not worthy of pictures. Yes I was bummed!

Saw this on Pinterest and I decided to try the benefits with Braggs Organic Apple Cider Vinegar. We shall see what happens. If nothing else I guess you could say I'm starting to pickle myself to stay younger!
I love that I signed up for daily emails from Click for Breast Cancer . When I see my email each day I feel blessed that I can help in such a simple way.
Mark is traveling to Brazil on Saturday. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers for a safe trip.

A WHOLE LOT OF NOTHING
I went on Pinterest yesterday morning and all my boards were out of place! What's up with that? It took me about half an hour to get them back the way I like them.
What is the price for FREE? Well yesterday it was about 3 hours. There was a freebie at Veggietales but they were so overwhelmed with people that it took me forever to finally get the order placed. I did read some blogs while I was waiting.
Ever since Windows wanted me to do an upgrade blogging has not been easy. I really have to jump through a lot of hoops to get posts together. I can do them quickly on my netbook but then my pictures are not there. Also since the upgrade photobucket runs really slow for me so it takes a long time to get my pictures ready for my Debby's Tree blog. Needless to say I have been a little frustrated.
I haven't even gotten around to taking pictures of Skye for Halloween. I guess you will see them when you see them! I think the fact that we have been having some things breaking down around the house has fueled my frustrations.
There is a new post at Debby's Tree . Check it out....it's a mystery!
Hope everyone has a nice weekend. We have plans to go to the Apple Orchards on Sunday with the kids. (our adult kids)

BECAUSE IT'S THURSDAY
Something else I have realized and have been trying for a few months now is that when I drink wine later in the evening I seem to not sleep well. I may fall asleep but tend to wake up more during the night. I sleep much better if I don't drink so I pretty much only drink socially now or maybe on the weekend with Mark. I do much better if I drink late afternoon/early evening. I think it has to do with the sugars in the wine.
So why am I up early and why am I at Starbucks again? Well most of you know this already, my internet was fixed yesterday morning. As it turns out they had a problem on their end which they didn't discover for a few days. How could they not know that? Here we thought that something must be wrong with our box when it was their box all along! Why does it take six days to have a technician out? Why is it that 3 phone calls took over 3 1/2 hours of my life and I would venture to guess that over three quarters of that time was spent on hold after each transfer to a new department. What I really didn't like is that after 20 minutes of holding one particular time they said I was transferred to the wrong department!
So the reason I am at Starbucks today is because Mark is having Lasik surgery on his eyes today. He has wanted to do this for several years now but chickened out before. He actually researched, found a place and went for the consultation but never went back to have it done. Well about 2 weeks ago their was a Groupon I sent to him on Lasik. He actually checked it out and found out it was the same place he had intended to go to before so that's where today comes in.( a little prayer would be appreciated) So they ask for the person driving them to not wait in their waiting room if possible because it can get crowded. They call you about 1/2 hour before he is ready to leave and it takes about 3 hours. The procedure doesn't take long at all but they have to stay afterwards to make sure all is well. So since we are about 30 miles away from home I thought why not do Starbucks.
Actually I have to admit that Tuesday was my first time going to Starbucks with a computer. Truthfully I was nervous. What I found is that it was actually fun, something out of the ordinary for me. It was nice to get out of my office at home and actually see people!! So I thought why not try that again. I'm not really a coffee drinker. I do like the Frappuccinos a lot. Hey it's got my last name in it! Actually I am hooked on the Green Tea Frappuccino. Since it's really early (7:30am) I decided to try a coffee. I am not one of those people who knows how to order with the different this and thats that people put in so I thought I would just try the Skiny Vanilla Latte. Funny how I got a Skiny but also got their Glazed Lemon Pound Cake. So much for the skinny!
Did you ever wonder what your brain thought about before blogging. I swear on the Bible that mind is always blogging. It's like I'm forever in blogging mode. Obviously I don't blog about 99% of it and your welcome!
I thought I would leave you with a funny today.

RANDOM IS ALL I HAVE
- So Wednesday ended up being a pajama day for me. I keep trying to clear my reader but it's not going away, the posts keep coming! Anyway it was like 4pm by the time I got around to taking a shower so I figured I might as well go back into some clean pajamas.
- So this is what happens when it rains, we get snow capped mountains. This was also on Wednesday. It was kind of nice and sunny but as of right now it is evening and it's pouring outside. (Skye says hello) She is in need of a brushing and a bath! Since I was outside with my camera I decided to take a picture of one of our Gerber daisies plants. (I did brighten up the picture of the mountains)
- So if you are an American Idol watcher you know what happened last night. What a show! One of the best performers, Casey, was at the very bottom last night with votes. The judges only get to save one person the entire season and they saved him. I know that I will make sure I vote for him next week. I figured it was to early to have to worry about voting for the good ones right now but I was wrong.
- I have a question and I hope someone can help me. I like to change my backgrounds a few times a year. I have been looking at every one's blogs who are using blogger and looking to see what templates they are using. Here is my problem, when I pick a background it has to have a very dark color in the center because my blog has a dark grey color there. I love all the backgrounds available to us but so many have white in the center so they just become grey centers when I use them. I have emailed several of the people who make the backgrounds but they never respond. I would like it to be white and I'm not sure how to change that. Any suggestions!
- Update on my daughter Amber. Her blood work was pretty good. Her thyroid reading was slightly off and her B12 is low. We will be taking her to our regular doctor to talk to him about those two things. Her doctor is weaning her off of her current medication and putting her on a new one. (Pray that it works for her) She can also take the anti-anxiety pill that she was given, when needed. Like I told you she doesn't have medical insurance. The new pill is $210. a month but if it works for her it is worth every penny.

She turns 28 tomorrow.
We love you Tristen!
Have a great weekend,

RANDOM DOZEN

Head on over to Linda's at 2nd cup of coffee to link up and the questions today come from her friend Linda at Mocha with Linda who helped out this week. We all need a little help from our friends.
1. Do you prefer to read the book or see the movie?
I am such a slow reader that I usually end up seeing the movie. Many years ago when The Bridges of Madison County came out I had seen the movie and then I read the book and I enjoyed having the visual of the characters in my mind while I read it.
2. What is your favorite holiday and why?
It has always been Christmas. Even though things have changed over the years with everyone living in different states I have the best memories of being with big family gatherings growing up. It's the one time of year when I go all out. I treat every Christmas like it will be my last and my adult children always say this is the best Christmas ever each year. I adore giving. (I don't want to sound shallow, I do know the importance of Christmas and the birth of Jesus.) I grew up with tons of presents under the, opening them one at a time, watching each person and it would take all day. That is what I give my family each year.
3. Which do you like better - the mountains or the beach?
I love them both however I would rather be warm compared to being very cold. The sound of the ocean is awesome but the peaceful majestic beauty in the mountains is awesome so I guess I really can't pick one!
4. If money were no consideration, what vehicle would you drive?
I have no desire to own some $150,000 car or more$! I would like to own a Mercedes just because I like them and could have bought one when I bought my Mini Cooper. But I have been in love with the Mini and have had two for a total of 7 years now because I think they are adorable! They are fun to drive and have a lot of power. It's not always about the cost.
5. What is your favorite cold-weather beverage?
I seldom drink cold weather beverages but I guess I would say Wassail.
6. How do you communicate most often with your friends: phone, email, text, face-to-face, or Facebook?
Email and sometimes Facebook. I don't talk on the phone much but I use to.
7. How do you receive your mail? Mailbox on the porch, at the end of the driveway, down the street, or post office box?
Down the street at a group of boxes.
8. Of the four basic personality types - sanguine, phlegmatic, melancholic, and choleric - which is your strongest? Which is your least evident? (See definitions below.)
Sorry but I have pieces from each one, not one alone is me!
9. What do you miss the most about being 20?
Really, you have to ask? I would say my body and my health.
10. How long from the time you get up, does it take you to get ready to walk out the door in the morning?
I usually take about 45 minutes but I could be quicker if I had to.
11. Who handles the car maintenance and pays the bills in your family?
My husband pays the bills. I take my car for maintenance and he doesn't wash windows or cars either, that would be me. But he works hard all week, provides well for us and takes care of the yard.
12. For those in the US, how many states have you visited? For those outside the US, how many provinces/other countries have you visited?
I think it is somewhere in the neighborhood of maybe of 13.
Personality type definitions courtesy Wikipedia:
Sanguine
The Sanguine temperament personality is fairly extroverted. People of a sanguine temperament tend to enjoy social gatherings, making new friends and tend to be quite loud. They are usually quite creative and often daydream. However, some alone time is crucial for those of this temperament. Sanguine can also mean very sensitive, compassionate and thoughtful. Sanguine personalities generally struggle with following tasks all the way through, are chronically late, and tend to be forgetful and sometimes a little sarcastic. Often, when pursuing a new hobby, interest is lost quickly when it ceases to be engaging or fun. They are very much people persons. They are talkative and not shy. For some people, these are the ones you want to be friends with and usually they become life long friends.
Choleric
A person who is choleric is a doer. They have a lot of ambition, energy, and passion, and try to instill it in others. They can dominate people of other temperaments, especially phlegmatic types. Many great charismatic military and political figures were cholerics. They like to be leaders and in charge of everything.
Melancholic
A person who is a thoughtful ponderer has a melancholic disposition. Often very considerate and get rather worried when they could not be on time for events, melancholics can be highly creative in activities such as poetry and art - and can become occupied with the tragedy and cruelty in the world. A melancholic is also often a perfectionist. They are often self-reliant and independent; one negative part of being a melancholic is sometimes they can get so involved in what they are doing they forget to think of others.
Phlegmatic
Phlegmatics tend to be self-content and kind. They can be very accepting and affectionate. They may be very receptive and shy and often prefer stability to uncertainty and change. They are very consistent, relaxed, rational, curious, and observant, making them good administrators and diplomats.

RANDOM DOZEN

Head on over, visit with Linda and pick up your dozen.
1. Is there a word which you initially mispronounced? Were the circumstances in which you made the faux pas embarrassing? By the way, that's not "foax pass." (I know you know that. Just jokin' with ya.)
I am sure that there have been many. I do know that when Burger King opened and my father went through the line he said "I want a wooper" and the woman said what size Root Beer do you want. He didn't say the whop!
2. How do you feel about the use of texting shortcuts and trends? (ex: "I've got ur notes. Get them 2 u 2morow.")
I am not very good at them but I do make up some good ones that my children have commented on!
3. Tell me about your high school senior picture. Please feel free to post.
I'm too lazy to look for it (that was 41 yrs. ago) but I know I looked hot! I liked it.
5. Share a high school or college homecoming memory.
What memory, remember it was 41 yrs. ago! I do know that I always had fun in school and Homecoming was always cool, especially the football games.
6. Linda at Mocha with Linda wants to know: "Do you prefer sunrises or sunsets?"
What, I can't like both of them equally? Sunsets are awesome, especially at the beach. I do like the time before sunrise the best, it's getting brighter out but the city lights are still on. It's awesome.
7. Lea at Cici's Corner asks, "What is something you have not done that you desire to do?"
Learn how to use my new Big Girl camera. It arrived yesterday and I feel lost!
8. Carol at Wanderings of an Elusive Mind ponders, "If you could come back [in another life] as an animal, which would it be?"
It would be a giraffe, they are my favorite.
9. Joyce from The Other Side of the Pond is curious: "Where were you 10 years ago?" Please feel free to elaborate more than just your physical location.
I was in a different house, my health was much better and I was working at a Hallmark store. I think the kids were already out of the nest!
10. When you are proven to be correct in any contentious discussion, do you gloat?
Not so much but many years ago I did that on one occasion. I had an argument with my father in law and he always had to be right. Everyone let him be right even when he wasn't because of the consequences. I didn't back down and I.was.right! He didn't talk to me for two years following that.
11. What is your favorite food which includes the ingredient "caramel?"
I have a recipe for caramel brownies that are really good but I haven't made them in many, many years. So I will say a caramel apple. Wait: I just thought about a caramel frappachino, they are awesome!
12. From my 17 year-old daughter to you: "If you could be part of any fictional family, which family would you choose and why?" (She's so cute. And clever.)
I am going to say The Flinstones because they have always been one of my favorites, of course the Huxtable's would have been fun.
Update: Just found out that there is no #4, I didn't even notice!

RANDOM DOZEN

Linda was celebrating a birthday and asked us to send her some questions. My question is #10. Head on over (click on the button) and join in the fun!
1. From "Men Are Dumb ....": If you had a theme song that played whenever you walked into a room full of people, what would it be?
It would be my favorite song: What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong
It's my ring tone on my phone!
2. From Pam of "Alert And Oriented x 4": Which of your shoes are your absolute favorite, and which are of the object of your most painful shoe-buyer's remorse?
I wear Birkenstocks all the time and Born shoes are pretty awesome too. All the rest would be buyer's remorse for me.
3. From Susanne of "Living to Tell the Story": Tell about your favorite birthday celebration that you've personally experienced.
I have had several and I just celebrated one on Sunday! I really enjoyed celebrating my birthday last year at Disneyland but I think a great one was when I was in Florida and my niece surprised me and drove down from Atlanta with her children.
4. From Lori of "Just me and My Life": If you were a flavor of ice cream, which would you be?
Butter Pecan is my favorite ice cream. Now if I am supposed to list one that describes me as a person (I went and looked up flavors on a few sites) I would say Chunky Monkey!
5. Cindy Swanson of "Notes in the Key of Life" asks: Have you ever had a crush on a movie star? Who was it, and are you still crushing?
Yes, it's John Travolta! I've been in love with him for at least 35 years.
6. Jill from "Jill Boyd's Place" inquires: Glasses or braces--if you had to wear one, which would it be?
Well if it's forever I would choose glasses, if it's just for a short time I would choose braces!
7. Nel from "Fasteneau Facts" asks: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I don't know where but I would love to live on an island with all of my family members around me. Like a big reunion 24/7/365 but I imagine it would wear on us over time. Hey, this is just a dream right?
8. Thena from "Patiently Waiting" wants to know: If money were no obstacle, what would be the perfect birthday gift to receive?
I guess it would be the island!
9. From "Life Through Bifocals," LynnMarie asks: What is your favorite birthday meal?
Well I posted that on Sunday! My newest favorite is a risotto/chicken dish and for dessert it's warm sticky toffee cake, it's awesome.
10. Debby at "Just Breathe" checks in with: Do you still send hand-written thank you notes?
That's my question! Yes I do, I already sent out 7 for my birthday gifts. I love doing them, always have always will.
11. Linda from "Mocha with Linda" poses this question: What is something you've done that you never thought you'd do?
Being the honest person that I am I smoked pot once in my thirties when I was trying to win my husband back. It was all about sex, drugs and rock 'n roll then for him! I also handled my aunt and uncles estate after they passed away and that was a huge challenge.
12. Jewel, my homegirl from Indiana who writes at "Musings from the World of Jewel," is very insistent that we answer this: Mount Rushmore honors four US Presidents: Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Roosevelt. If you could add any person to Mount Rushmore, who would you add and why?
This is an excellent question but I'm not sure who I would ad. ME, the Queen would be a good choice. I'm not sure if the presidents that I know of or have voted for are worthy. I am certainly going to enjoy reading every one's answers! My son's birthday is always on the inauguration day so when he becomes president and takes office on his birthday they can put him up there.

RANDOM DOZEN

Linda is waiting for you so head on over and join us!
1. Do you believe, somewhere deep inside, that blondes do indeed have more fun? That they are "dumber" than brunettes or redheads? Be honest!
No, I was blonde most of my life and I can't say I had more fun because of it. If I was dumb it wasn't because of my hair color.
2. Which animal would you most like to observe in its wild habitat?
A Giraffe because I love them. They are so graceful.
3. This week the U.N. announced that Dr. Mazlan Othman has been appointed the official "Alien Ambassador," should any extraterrestrials contact us. Have you, or has anyone you know, ever seen a UFO?
I believe my son thinks that he saw one once when he was younger and I am sure he would still say that now.
4. Name your favorite Hitchcock film.
Well you can't go wrong with Psycho but I think my favorite is The Birds!
5. Would you rather spend time at the library, the mall, a craft store or home?
Home for sure, then it would be mall, craft store and library.
6. Which Disney princess is your favorite? (Or Disney character, if you are a guy)
I like Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
7. What kind of art is your favorite?
I love paintings.
8. How do you feel about viral videos, that is, videos made by amateurs that end up on Youtube receiving thousands of hits?
I don't care one way or another. If you get famous well then good for you.
9. Where do you buy your jeans?
Since I am overweight I just buy pull-on denim pants. Heck I can buy them at Walmart for next to nothing. I wish I had an answer to this but that won't happen until I'm down at least 50 lbs.
10. Tell me about your first automobile accident.
It was back in the 70's. I was driving and this girl in front of me was pulling into her driveway only she didn't' signal and looked like she was turning left obviously making a big loop to pull in better. I hit her!
11. Have you ever been honest when you knew you would benefit more if you would be dishonest?
I would say that I am sure I have done that but it would have been years ago. I have always taught my children to accept a gift with kindness even if they already have one at home, rather then say "I have this" and hurt someones feelings.
12. If you were appointed "Ambassador to Aliens," what would you show and tell first about life on Earth? What would be the most difficult thing to explain?
I don't have a clue! I am sure that wearing make-up would be difficult to explain like why we paint our nails!

RANDOM DOZEN

CLICK ON THE DOZEN TO JOIN IN.
HEAD ON OVER AND SAY HELLO TO LINDA.
1. Have you, or has someone close to you, ever won an award for anything? (I just came from my dad's ceremony wherein he was given a medal of honor by the French government for service in France in WWII. Pictures to follow.)
I believe that my father-in-law received some awards in the service and also my son-in-law. My father also received several but I don't remember what they were for.
2. Who is the nearest relative to you who has served in the US Military?
Our son-in-law served in the Marines and he fought in Iraq. We are very proud of him.
3. Share something that stirs the patriotic spirit in you.
For some reason it's fireworks for me and of course the National Anthem.
4. Where are you in the birth order in your family? Do you think your "placement" made a difference in your personality?
I am the baby. I have an older brother and sister. Yes, I was spoiled rotten!
5. Name one trait you hope you carry that was evidenced in your parents or grandparents.
They were all very kind hearted people who would give you the shirt off their back.

Pants always!
7. Approximately how many times do you wake during the night? What do you do to go back to sleep?
I usually will wake up and go potty. If I can't sleep I will go lay on the couch and watch a movie that I love. One that I know by heart and I fall asleep to it. There is also a small pill called Mid-Night that works really well with NO side effects.
8. Share a favorite movie quote.
Sometimes I just draw a blank when I'm working on this. I do know that in the movie "Ever After" when Drew Barrymore gets to the ball she stands there and says "Just Breathe." That is how I named my blog because with my asthma some days I want to JUST BREATHE.
9. What is your favorite Fall candle scent?
Mandarin Orange
10. What is one Fall activity you're looking forward to?
Going to Oak Glenn to get apples.
11. Tell us about a pleasant surprise that happened to you recently.

12. What was it like when you first met your in-laws-to-be?
I was extremely insecure at the time so I know I was nervous. My mother-in-law never lived in the same state with us so it's been pretty easy. My father-in-law was a very hard man, it way always his way or the highway.
