MAMMOTH LAKES CALIFORNIA 2014

It was a great week in Mammoth this year. We were there July 5th - 12th. We have been going there for about 18 years now and have been at a cabin at Woods Lodge on Lake George for probably 12 of those years!  I didn't take a lot of pictures this year but I thought I would share some of my favorites. 

We left extra early this year to avoid traffic on the 2 lane highway part of U.S. Route 395 so we stopped at the Ranch House Cafe for breakfast. Usually we don't arrive there until lunch time. 

We pass Mt. Whitney on the way up which is the highest mountain in the contiguous United States. We always stop for bread at Erick Schat's Bakery in Bishop, CA. When we are in Mammoth we stop in at Paul Schat's Bakery during the week which is Erick's son!

a wonderful dinner at The Chart House in town.

On Wednesday Adam joined us. He flew in from Los Angeles. Smallest airport I have ever been to and I couldn't believe the baggage claim area, just had to laugh! 

His plane landed and we got to watch......

Had a few evening fires while playing scrabble....

We had a visit from these deer on Thursday. Adam missed them. He had ear plugs in his ears and didn't hear me. So you get to see them in pictures just like Adam did! 

Mark said there was a total of five but I only saw four.....

We had a lot of clouds this year and 

several rainy afternoons.

while I enjoyed reading....

I also grew very tall while I was there......

I probably forget something about this week....

This is what Miss Skye B did on her birthday. If you remember the post I did about her called "Nobody puts Skye in the corner" she is still pulling her bed out to the middle of the family room!

Just want to say Happy Birthday to my Mother Dorothy. She has been in Heaven for almost 29 years. She would be 84 today. Here she is with my Father Ray who will be 88 this year. (I think I may be visiting him in February in Florida) I was thinking that this picture looks like a prom photo but then I saw the beer bottles behind them so I am guessing they were at a wedding.

P.S. I just got off the phone with friend in Minnesota. He said that since early this morning the snow has been nearly waist high and is still falling. The temperature is dropping below zero and the north wind is increasing. His wife has done nothing but look through the kitchen window. He says that if it gets much worse, he may have to let her in! (hehe)

Julie if you are reading this I almost called you to see how your family was after reading this email from Mark!
