ONE OF THOSE DAYS CONTINUED.....

If you didn't read my first post you can find it here

At 5:30 am on Wednesday morning I took Mark to the airport to catch a flight to San Francisco where he would get a connection to Minneapolis. Well his flight to SF was delayed two hours because there was fog in SF. So needless to say he didn't make his connection. There were a few options available and he ended up taking a flight to Houston which would connect him to a flight to Minneapolis.

I can't tell you how frustrated he was. He's been flying for many years now and he just can't stand it anymore. He can't wait to retire. He was furious on Wednesday.

Well wouldn't you know it, the Houston flight was delayed because of mechanical issues and he missed the connecting flight to Minneapolis! The only option left at the time was a flight in the morning. So they gave him food vouchers and a hotel voucher. Unfortunately they couldn't get his luggage to him. So he bought a t-shirt at the airport so he would have something clean for the morning.

His flight took off on time the next morning and he made it to Minneapolis. He did have to cancel his sales call because he was not going to see a customer without showering or having clean dress clothes on. His hotel on Thursday night would be in Duluth so he just drove there from the airport. He was able to make his Friday sales call and then he was on his way driving to Canada for a week of fishing with his brother.

On Wednesday when I got home after bowling I heard a funny sounds coming from the box next to our electrical panel on the side of the garage. It was a loud buzzing sound. This box says communications on it. I ended up calling Edison first to see if they had any suggestions.

Well actually I went to a neighbors house across the street first to see if the husband was home but there was no answer. The electric company said it was most likely the box for the cable company.  So I called Spectrum and they were very helpful. They were sending someone out the next day between 11 and 12 pm. I was so afraid something would catch on fire.

I had an idea of what it might be but I couldn't open the box. It is screwed on in six places and I'd have to be on a ladder to do it. I didn't want to deal with it and of course these things only happen when Mark is out of town!!

Many years ago, maybe 8, we had a similar noise from that box. It was the phone company who fixed it. We now have cable, internet and phone from the same place. The old phone line had a back up battery in this box. Well when we changed over to Spectrum I guess they didn't do anything with this battery. Honestly I don't think they would have even know what it was for.

In the meantime on Friday morning I had an appointment for Skye. She is itchy again. Well of course when I left for her 9 am appointment there were no noises from that box outside yet it was still buzzing at 11 pm Wednesday night.  Go figure. Anyway Skye's issue was from fleas. She didn't have fleas on her, she wears Advantage II. However Skye is very allergic to flea bites. Mark hasn't kept up with spraying the yard regularly and apparently so got several bites.

She was put on a new itch medication which we hope will help her through this ruff patch of itching and Mark will have to stay on top of spraying the yard. I think it is funny how you don't know about something and then that very night I saw a commercial for the medication she was put on!

I feel bad for her because she has been miserable but I'm thankful it wasn't another bacterial infection from grooming because she had been recently cut a few weeks ago. We have used a new place for her last three haircuts since she got infected from Pet Smart.

Anyway when I got home from the vet Spectrum was waiting for me. He was told to be here at 9 am. I told him they told me between 11 & 12. No way I would have said okay because I had the vet appointment. Anyway he hadn't left which was a good thing.

So he opened up the box and it was the back up battery for the old phone service. He was able to unplug it and the battery was hot to the touch and bloated. Thankfully he got it out, it took awhile and then we set it on the brick wall to cool off.

So last week was a hectic week for me. I know there are worse things in the world then my little issues but to me it was stressful. So Skye is definitely better. I didn't even realize how much she wasn't playing with her toys. She is happy again and bringing toys into my office for me to play tug of war with her.

On a happier note I drove out to Adam and Gabby's on Saturday afternoon to celebrate Mother's Day with them. They were in Maui for Mother's Day weekend. I played with Roxy for awhile and we shared a lot of stories about what been going on in our lives.

Gabby is now 20 weeks pregnant and had a great check up at the doctor on Friday.  Little Roxy is getting bigger and so darn cute. Love the way she play at this clumsy time in her life. She is also very laid back but manages to get into a lot of trouble along the way.....

Thanks for listening.
Have a great week!

HAVE YOU EVER HAD ONE OF THOSE DAYS.....

....or several in a row? Day's where nothing seems to go right! Of course you have, we all have them but it seems the older I get the more I freak out.

So I had a doctors appointment on Tuesday. I love our doctor, we have been seeing him for approximately 30 years. The last few times I have seen him he has been short with me. So this has given me some anxiety, especially when I have an appointment coming up. I will have conversations in my head with him for weeks in advance.

My appointment went okay but he was still rather short with me. Next time I'm going to say something to him. My blood work came out good which made me happy. My bad cholesterol had been up and it is now down. I'm telling you that you don't have to go on a statin drug. If you eat right you can bring those numbers down.

So my blood pressure was up but it was 140 over 80. That's not that bad. Anything over that is bad. At my other doctor's it is usually 129 over 70. So this was definitely anxiety. Well guess what? Apparently those who make up the rules on these things have now changed it. They now want your BP under 130.

Just so you know I have been doing lots of testing the last few months and have one more appointment on Monday for my Mammogram. All testing has come back negative which is good news. I also saw a dermatologist, he did a body scan for cancer and found nothing.

As you know some of these tests are very embarrassing, especially the pap test, body scan and mammogram.

Anyway on Tuesday after the doctor I went to buy gas at a station that had premium for 3.75 a gallon. When I left the house in the morning I saw that a station not far from our house had it for 4.01 a gallon. We never go to that station but I decided to watch for some prices while running my errands. Yes California gas is very expensive!

So after that I was going to run to a restaurant that we saw on a local show we watch. Mark wanted to try their raspberry cheesecake. So I'm driving there after the gas station and remembered that they forgot to give me the copies of my blood work so back to the doctor's office I go to pick up the papers. Then I headed back to get the cheesecake and wouldn't you know it, they were out of it for the day.

So then I continued on to get my pedicure. Had a girl I hadn't seen before. She was very good but a bit slow. When she started polishing my toes she started to share stories from several people in her family who have had visions of God and angels that have cured their cancer.

Now I didn't have a problem with her telling me these stories but she was quiet for the first half hour  I was with her and then started talking. So with each story she stopped putting polish on my toes. I ended up being there for an hour and 20 minutes. I'm usually out within 45 minutes. I still had more errands to run before I went home.

More to come....
You have to hear about Mark's day on Wednesday and more from me on Wednesday and Thursday. Yes it was one of those weeks!

SOME DAYS WE SHOULD JUST STAY IN BED

Sorry, this got a little longer than I had planned.
If you don't have time I totally understand!

If you follow me on Facebook you might already know this. Monday was not my day. I did my normal computer stuff in the morning and was going to do dusting in the afternoon.

I went under the counter to get my dusting supplies and noticed that the Pledge was empty. Since we normally buy a pack at Costco I went into the laundry room under the sink to see if there were more.

I saw one at the back and was going to move a few things around to get to it but nothing was moving! Everything was stuck to the bottom of the cabinet. Insert huge project here: taking everything out of the cabinet.

Apparently the last time Amber washed the floors the cleaner poked something when she put it away and got a pinhole in it. It has been leaking for probably 3+ weeks. (Note: time for her to do the floors again)

I had to soak each item to get the product off the bottom and then soak the cabinet to soften up the thick layer of product. I also used a pastry scrapper to loosen it. What a mess!

About two hours later Mark came home with some Five Guys. He had been at the shooting range jury duty.  After we ate he asked me if I wanted the change from his pocket. I said no you can put it in your large beer bottle.
Then I said wait, I have some change that can be put in there. I went into a cabinet in the kitchen where I have an ashtray of change. When I took it out something shifted and knocked a small ball jar of touch up paint onto the ground which broke and went flying in two directions of glass and paint.

What a mess. Thankfully Mark helped me clean it up which took quite awhile scrubbing the paint with soapy water to get it off the tile. Then after it was all cleaned up I vacuumed to make sure all the glass was up. With dogs in the house you have to be extra careful.

I swear I must have gotten out of the wrong side of bed on Monday! So Tuesday I went to the show and ran some errands. Unfortunately Wednesday had a few things happen that were not fun either. It seems like sometimes it's all or nothing!

I was going through a dresser drawer where I keep some miscellaneous gifts. I was looking for something that I bought for Amber. Later I decided to put some of the things in a box because it was feeling crowded and there are several items that I'm going to mail to my dad's house before my trip. I always have some little gifts for the kids. So I put a box together and went to open the drawer but it wouldn't open. Something got stuck.

Finally after about an hour I managed to get it unstuck using every thin thing I could find in the house to fit into the little opening. I was so happy when it opened and filled the box with things to be mailed. I did manage to get all the laundry done on Wednesday.

Unfortunately on Wednesday night I walking into our bedroom when I stepped on a piece of glass. I grabbed a band aid and went to show Mark. What I didn't realize was that every other step I was dropping spots of blood on the carpet and the kitchen floor! I didn't realize it was bleeding that bad.

So how was your week? I'm writing this on Thursday and I plan to dust today. Let's hope I don't have to update this before it posts!

Tonight (Thursday) Mark and I are going out to eat before we see an early showing of Pitch Perfect 2. I had him watch the first one the other night. He has always enjoyed watching Glee with me and when we saw a preview for Pitch Perfect 2 he said he might see it with me.

Also we lucked out. It is actually at our movie theater who has $5. Tuesday and Thursday's so it is only $10. for us to get in. I stopped and bought the tickets when I was out on Tuesday.

We are celebrating Amber's 34th birthday on Sunday and Adam will be here. Win, Win !!!!

I did have an update but I posted it yesterday. It is here at A POST BEFORE A POST if you want to see what happened yesterday.

Have a great weekend.......

A POST BEFORE A POST

FYI:

I have a post coming up tomorrow about the frustrating things that have happened this week. A couple of days where I got out of bed on the wrong side or probably just should have stayed in bed!

The post is rather long and I mentioned that I hope I don't have to go in and update it. So rather than go in and update the already long post I'm going to tell you what I just learned today in hopes that it won't happen to you.

I still haven't picked out a program for my Chromebook 2 to put my photos into. Of course Google+ Photo is available and already on it. So today I thought I would look at the photos and see what the Google + Photos is like.  It has every possible photo you have ever posted on your blog posts.

I wasn't paying real good attention and I thought there were several things that I should just delete. Like when I download a photo of a movie poster for my review I don't need to keep it in my regular photos on my computer so I will often trash them later.

YOU DO NOT WANT TO TRASH ANYTHING IN THE GOOGLE+ PHOTO PROGRAM!!!
When you delete a photo from this application it also deletes it from your post or wherever you linked it to. I just went back and had to add all the movie posters to my last movie review post.

LESSON LEARNED......

I CAN'T GET NO SATISFACTION

but I try and I try and I try and I try.....

For those of you who have know me for some time you know that I am a die hard blog reader! So being without internet at home before I left for Florida was very frustrating but with the help of Starbucks I was able to kinda keep up with my reading.

I was looking forward to a few days in Orlando (with not much to do) to get caught up at the hotel but that didn't happen! For some reason it was super slow and I was getting crazy pop-ups because the network was not secure. I cried :(

So needless to say I am way behind because I normally read at least 30 posts each day which would means I missed approximately 420....give or take a few. I have never been one of those who can delete all and move on. The reason being is that I don't want to miss a day in your life.

Well I am hear to tell you that Mark's co-worker (who was in Orlando with us) had recently gotten a Verizon jetpack for WiFi which just sits near your computer or cell phone and he gave it to me to take to my dads house.

Wasn't that just so awesome of him?  I am on it right now and things are running smoothly and I am so excited! I've got to send him a big box of Cheryl's cookies for this one......
So after Saturday when things quiet down around here I will sit down and spend some quality time visiting all of you. I can't wait......

We are going out tonight with my sister and brother in law. On Friday we are having a pizza party here with my sister's girls and their families coming over. (It's a great Chicago pizza too!) Then on Saturday we have a 18th Birthday Party for my great-niece Amber. Fun times......

TRAVELING THE FRIENDLY SKIES

We made it to Orlando without any issues to speak of. A little delay here and there but arrived everywhere on time. Had a delicious meal at Cat Cora's Kitchen at Houston Airport Terminal E, I highly recommend it!

United is now using smaller planes out of Ontario, CA which meant that there are just two seats on each side of the isle. So I had a window seat which was nice since Mark was next to me. I always sit on the isle when I can!!!

What I want to share is Mark's flight on Friday. I had posted about it on Facebook. He was scheduled to fly out of Savannah, GA at 6:30 am and arrive in Ontario, CA around 3:00 pm. He would have three flights to get home.

First flight was delayed and didn't take off until 1:00 pm. Luckily he hadn't left the hotel yet! So that flight flew to Chicago. Then from Chicago he was catching a flight to Houston but that flight was delayed so they put him on a flight to San Francisco.

The San Francisco flight had mechanical problems and was delayed so he ended up getting a flight to LAX. So from LAX he had to took a limo to Ontario Airport to get his car. He arrived home around 1:30 am Saturday morning.

Of course his luggage went to Houston and he was told he could pick it up at Ontario. It would be on the first flight out of Houston Saturday morning. Well we had Tristen's graduation so we decided to go pick it up afterwards on our way home.

Now keep in mind the we were not very far from LAX being at Adam & Tristen's in Los Angeles. So we arrive at Ontario around 5:30 pm and guess what???? His luggage was sent to LAX !!! We were flying out of Ontario on Sunday so he really wanted his luggage.

Well his luggage arrived at our home at 1:30 am Sunday morning. They sent a driver with it from LAX.  Isn't that just crazy? Long story short....he was able to unpack, pack and the rest is history!

FRUH-STREY-SHUHN

frus·tra·tion    [fruh-strey-shuhn]
1. act of frustrating; state of being frustrated: the frustration of the president's efforts.
2. an instance of being frustrated: to experience a series of frustrations before completing a project.
3. something that frustrates, as an unresolved problem.
4. a feeling of dissatisfaction, often accompanied by anxiety or depression, resulting from unfulfilled needs or unresolved problems.

This is how I am feeling right now. I just feel anger running through my veins and I am working hard at putting a smile on my face. I am trying to choose happy!!!!

Do you ever feel like you have been around your family forever yet they don't know a thing about you. Don't we foresee all their needs? Who foresees ours? Why should I have to come home to a totally empty refrigerator. They know I like Unsweetened Almond Milk, Lemons, Romaine Lettuce and Fage 0% Yogurt so you would think that someone could have had some supplies for me when I got home.

There is absolutely no dish soap. My husband added some water to the bottle to get the most out of what was there. Now they all know perfectly well that I use Seventh Generation or Mrs. Meyers which are both available at Target.  There were also no spoons in the drawer because no one ran the dishwasher in the 16 days either while I was gone! The dogs water bowl in the kitchen was also kinda yellow on the bottom. (its not their main bowls, they each have their own in other areas in the house but never the less!)

To top that off I left a simple note with a few things on it. You know my thriving poinsettia from Christmas. The note said give it a 1/4 cup of water twice a week. Well it was swimming in water and apparently it was forgotten about so it was soaked to save its drooping life. There is one pink leaf hanging on for dear life and the green leaves are drooped and lacking in all strength. It made me cry.

And wouldn't it have been nice if someone could have vacuumed before I came home, maybe washed the floors. Also our shower was set up to be cleaned by Amber and it was never done. See I have a hard time with upper body things and cleaners when it comes to my lungs. Even though I feel well I still have many restrictions. There are also some others things I can't list but am extremely upset about.

So I am on strike, let's see if they notice!

I am also a bit down about my weight loss too. I walked a lot, I exercised in the pool almost daily and never once cheated on my diet yet I weigh the same thing I weighed when I left. Here I am on another plateau and I am bummed about it. I just a mess right now :(

Okay on another note there has been a unanimous decision made by the administration of my blog....ME! After going through all the posts in my reader and bringing it down to my most favorite people I have 400+ posts to read. A decision has been reviewed and it may be too difficult of a task for me right now. I do plan on looking at each one but I may not comment on each one. Still wallowing in my self-pity from  the above frustration so please bear with me if you will. I'm thinking I may need to go away again where I am appreciated for the person that I am!

Update: I did my shower on Thursday with the mixture that they talk about on Pinterest and it was amazing. You use equal parts of vinegar and dawn dish detergent. Heat the vinegar in the microwave and mix with the dawn in a spray bottle, shake. I sprayed my shower and left it on for 4 hours but you can leave it on overnight if your want. I think it is excellent.
