FRIDAY
Friday we were off to drive around the city and visited a few places. We went to the Field Museum for a few hours. It was wonderful. We were able to get several pressed pennies for our daughter on Friday in the city. See the Mold-A-Rama machine, remember those? My children had a big collection of these when they were growing up. They had several in the museum but I decided not to bring any home. (our daughter was a little disappointed when she found out)
Please remember to click on the pictures to enlarge them.
Across the way from the Field Museum was Soldier Field the home of the Bears. I didn't have the energy to walk up closer but my husband and son did. We were able to shop in a store there where I purchased a few things for our daughter. It was very exciting. It would have been fun to go to a Bears game. I had been to several when we were living in Illinois. We ended up going to the Carm's in the city for our Italian Beef Combo sandwiches that we couldn't have on Thursday. LOVED IT! Here are some of the views as we drove around the lake front.
We ended up going to Navy Pier and walked around for awhile. It was fun and the scenery was beautiful as you can see. Then we headed back to the "W" so Tristen could attend the start of her conference.
These are some of the trees that I saw that still had some color.
This is actually a mosaic of most of the pictures I took. I just did this for fun.
After we got back to the hotel I wanted to do something else. Our son Adam was going to go with Tristen and I felt like we also needed to do something. So DH and I ended up going downstairs to the lobby for a few glasses of wine. It was fun watching people! Then we went to the restaurant in the hotel for an awesome dinner. I didn't take a picture of our meal but it was perfect. I had a delicious steak, parmesan fries, some mac & cheese and a few other things. It was a great Friday!

Debby I felt I was on a tour. What beauty and adventure. Thank you for sharing. Blessings.
Love that you took us with you on this trip through your pictures. Excellent pics I might add! Glad you had such a fun time. Chicago is a 2 1/2 hour drive for us. I lived in Joliet when I was young and we went downtown Chicago in the winter just to see the decorated windows. It was amazing.
Chicago is such a neat city! I've only been there once, but I live close enough I'd love to go back for a weekend trip sometime. It looks like you had some beautiful weather while you were there! :-)
Your mosaic is fabulous ... that would make an awesome Christmas Card photo! Busy, busy, busy. Sounds like you guys were all over the place, but I guess that's what we do on vacation. =) Glad you got some wine and people watching in!
Those pictures are beautiful! Thanks for sharing Chicago with us!
Thanx for sharing this. Beautiful pics and looks like lots of fun. I have never been there but would like to someday !!
Thanx for the tour.

Love the colors of the trees! They look so beautiful
I loved this! I've never been to Chicago. Is that the Sears tower that's "towering" above the other buildings in the 3rd collage (I think)?
It looks like so much fun!!!!
I love the pictures and the leaves are amazing.. Have a great day..
I love Chicago there is so much to see there. I like the hustle and bustle of the city!
You got some beautiful shots from the Navy Pier :-D
AND you had perfect weather for sight-seeing, how awesome is that? :)
I would love to go and visit the Greman submarine U-505 in the Science and Industry museum. The U-505 was the last enemy warship that was captured on the high seas by the American Navy.
Great tour of Chicago. Looks like they got good color this fall.
Sounds wonderful! I love all the pictures.
Sounds like it was a wonderful trip! Just read both posts. It is always so much fun to go back to places you used to enjoy. One of my sons was in the hospital for about 10 days several years ago. I don't remember what the area was called, but it was near the zoo. We went 3 times and really like the city!
Glad your trip was all you wanted it to be!
I liked the mosiac pictures! it almost could be a postcard!! those Italian beef combo sandwiches sound delicious! It also looks like you had great weather for your mini trip!
