As you know Mark and I went to Temecula California Thursday November 1st to enjoy a day at the Wilson Creek Winery. We had a wonderful day. Weather was around 77 degrees and perfect. Funny how you can live in an area for 24 years and not know about the vineyards that are pretty darn close to where you live. I go to Temecula often to gamble at a local Indian Casino. For the vineyards you get off the exit before and within about 7 miles you are in a whole new world.
There must be over 20 vineyards, each one more grand than the other. I had bought a Groupon that I thought would be fun for us. I was so right! We started out with lunch and we both had delicious Chicken Caesar Salads. Then we headed over to the area for the horseback ride, filled out a little paperwork, got on our horses and went for our 90 minute ride through the vineyard.
I didn't take any pictures on the ride, it just wasn't possible. I just didn't want to feel off balance so I decided not to. So these pictures were all taken off of the horses except for the one they took of us sitting on our horses. We couldn't get any closer together since my horse wasn't fond of others close to her. She liked her space.
We ate lunch at the grill off to the right under
the open patio cover. They hold weddings here
so the building has banquet halls inside. Very pretty.
Arriving for our horseback ride.
We had the 90 minute ride around the vineyard. My horse was
named Rosie. Mark didn't know the name of his horse.
Loved the row of barrels.
Leaning tour of Piza with corks!
After the horseback ride we headed over to the wine tasting room. We had a ticket to taste 5 different wines. That was so much fun. I can't wait to go back and do that at the other vineyards. We bought a few bottles of wine and I got a cute little cork holder. I have often save our corks from New Year's Eve and date them so I have already put several inside the holder. Then we went and had coffee and cheesecake before we headed home for the day.
Being Friday there is a new post over at Debby's Tree!
Have a wonderful weekend.

OMG! How fun! Yummy, yummy, yum!
Wow, that sounds and looks like so much fun! We visited a couple of wineries in Napa Valley when we were on our honeymoon. I'd like to go back - just not too sure if we'll make that trip. So I'm especially enjoying your winery tour - vicariously! ;-)
I have never been to a winery, but we have a neighbor with his own little vineyard. I just love the smell of the grapes!

I would be so tempted to take out one of the corks from the Tower of Pisa. Possibly one that is situated right at the bottom!
What a wonderful day! Thanks for sharing.
What a fun visit. Course I would've loved the horse back riding!
I'd love to do wine country. Wonder how Ann's motorized wheelchair would do?
You do some really fun things Debby. I have never been to a winery - that in itself looked nice - but the horseback riding was an added bonus. It looked like a beautiful place.

I love touring wineries, but I've never done it on horseback. Looks like fun.
Looked like you and Mark had a great day down at the wineries!! I remember years ago before it was as popular as it is now and Temecula was just a little city and not what it is now and there were just a handful of wineries, Calloway and Mt. Palomar were the "biggest" ones there. We used to go and visit and do tours; that's when tastings were free and more than not it also included a nice wine glass with their emblem (we built up our wine glass collections that way :)
It sure has changed a lot!!

Sounds like you had a great day! I envy your horse ride. Haven't done that in years and I love doing it
What a perfect time...I would love to do that!
Loved reading about this trip...My Honey and I do enjoy these types of things...we like to go to the Wineries in the Fall, sit and listen to the music and enjoy a little snack. I do the same thing with my corks on special occasions or from special wineries. I like the keeper. I've never seen one like that.

What a fun day trip! Your pictures were gorgeous. Happy weekend!
Debby, what fun! I love everything you mentioned - maybe no horses for me - but everything else. However, I will bet that horse ride was glorious! So glad you had such a fun weekend. Ann
Now that looks fun!
Surprising how many fun things we can find to do right nearby. This sounds like a wonderful day and one you should repeat.
Oh that looks like so much fun! Such beautiful scenery! I bet a horseback ride through the vineyards was amazing! We toured some vineyards in Napa several years ago and we loved it too. But, I imagine touring on a horse would be so lovely this time of year. Cute cork holder.
Hope you and yours are enjoying this beautiful season of autumn!
This looks like my kind of day!
Oh, how beautiful!
Love it. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
What a beautiful day and a beautiful winery & vineyard!!! So glad you had such a nice time. I think it would be neat to visit a bunch of the wineries out there :-)
