Joyce is waiting for you....
Can you believe it's June already?
1. Have you ever been to the US capital-Washington DC? If so, what's your favorite site? If not, what would you most like to see on a visit to that city someday in the future? Is it even on your list of places to visit?
No I have never been but it is definitely on my list. I want to see it all, there are way too many to list. This is a dream of mine.
2. When did you last attend a wedding? Are there any weddings on your summer calendar? Were you a summer bride? If you're single, is summer the season of your dream wedding?
I'm thinking that my daughters wedding 8 years ago was the last wedding I attended. No weddings on the calendar. Yes, I was a June bride!
3. What is your favorite way to eat strawberries?
Just the way they are from the store. (after washing them of course)
4. What is one thing you are especially looking forward to this summer?
My trip to Europe in 9 days. O.M.G ~ N.I.N.E..D.A.Y.S ~
5. Do you use/like the self checker at the grocery store?
I have used it and it's okay for small trips to the store. One day I was forced to use it because they only had one checker and a line of people. They pushed us all to use it. It was horrible with a full cart of groceries!
6. Share a favorite piece of common sense advice.
I can't seem to come up with any right now yet I know I have some.
7. Barefoot, flip flops, tennis shoes, sassy sandals-your first choice for summertime?
My Birkenstock sandals are my almost everyday shoe. (only rain changes that)
8. Insert your own random thought here.
My dad saw the specialist yesterday. He was given two cortisone shots, one on each side of his spine. He turns 88 in June and the specialist said at his age there isn't anything else they can do. He should feel relief in a few days and it should last about 8 months. Thank you for your prayers yesterday. What upsets me is that he has complained to his doctor for years about this and the doctor always said it's just arthritis. Well it wasn't just arthritis and something could have been done years ago!

I'm excited for you and your trip...can't wait to hear all about it!
I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to know that something could have been done for your dad's back so many years ago. :-( I hope these cortisone shots bring him relief soon.
Wow ... 9 days until you leave for Europe! That's not far at all! I hope you take lots of photos to share with us!
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
I'm so jealous you're going to Europe! I would love to go again! Where are you going to?
You are one of the main reasons I wanted to join in. I have fun reading your answers and wanted to join in.. I am so happy about your trip. I so knew your answer for your shoes..
Glad your Dad is going to be okay.. Have a great day..
Doctors. Glad he is doing better. Have fun in Europe.
Europe! I'm sooooo jealous!
My mom is in a similar situation: she did something to her hip the other day, saw a physician's asst. yesterday who suggested another epidural shot, but it raises her blood sugar. She has to wait a couple of weeks before she can get into the dr.
i hope that he gets 8 solid months of relief.
Hopefully your Dad will finally get some relief.
Europe, WOW, have a wonderful trip.
Hi Debby...i am finally catching up on my readings! Was sorry to read about your Dad's pain but glad that he finally got some help!
Enjoy your trips to Vegas and Europe....I absolutely love Washington DC, so much to see.
Glad your dad got some relief from his pain. Have a great time on your trip!!!!!
Have a wonderful trip. Hope the shot does help your Dad as much as they say. It is so hard to be in pain all the time.
I hope you have an awesome trip. Please take lots of pictures to show us.
I hope you have a lot of fun on your trip. Can't wait to hear on about it.
I am completely jealous that you're going to Europe. Have a great time :)
Do NOT get me started on doctors that tell aged patients there's nothing much to be done. If a patient is alive then do something. My dad's doctor just got my step mother really angry for something similar and my dad is 76. They are going for a second opinion. I don't why doctors can be such jerks. But they sure better remember karma.
Sorry to hear about your dad's plight. Older folks are getting a bum wrap these days, and it's only going to get worse for those of us heading in that direction, thanks to Obamacare.
European vacation?! Wow! Enjoy yourself, and take lots of photos.
Europe? Oh. My. Word. You go girl!!! What a great summer you are going to have!
I know what you mean about the Washington dream. I had always wanted to go there. Even though I didn't really get to stay very long - I treasure the things I got to see and I hope I get to go back some day.

Dont get what you WANT until you have the money for it.
7. Barefoot, flip flops, tennis shoes, sassy sandals-your first choice for summertime?

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I wish I could make your heart not hurt for the situation
I'm so glad your going! I can't believe it's 9 days away :)
I know it's stupid but I don't use the self checker, being a checker yrs ago it makes me feel like I'm taking jobs away from someone ... lol
I so knew the birks :)
Oh Debby, how wonderful to be going to Europe! I'll look forward to your posts about your trip. (I bet you'll come home with some great Christmas tree decor!) I'm so sorry your father is having such trouble. I hope the cortisone shots will give him some relief. laurie
Hopefully that shot will take care of the pain longterm.
Cute to read these things to you.
My favourite piece of common sense advice: Take your coat off indoors, otherwise it won't be doing its job outside! I hated it when my mum used to say it, but I find myself saying it now as well.
*Sigh*
I refuse to use the Self checkers because it takes a job away from a human.
Ohhhhh ahhhhhhh a trip! And of course you will be leaving the huge Gator at the house for when the alarm isn't working?
That would make me so mad about your dad too. All that wasted time and unnecessary pain!
I don't really like the self-checker. I'm so old school, or maybe it's just old. lol
Woohooo 9 days, is there room for me in your suitcase? Washington DC is beautiful. We are gonna bring the kids soon.
I am excited and jealous about your trip. You will love Washington when you get there. I too am a Birkenstocker.
So excited for you! Your trip will be awesome.
I think anyone who lives in California wears Birks!
Ummmm, I like strawberries sprinkles with sugar and put in refrigerator for a while so they get really sweet! I'm a sugar addict!
I go barefoot at home, but flip-flops or Toms the rest of the time. Except for church...flats there.
I liked the Washington Monument.
Yes, I do like the self checker...when I just have a few things.
Debby just catching up on blogland, I didn't know about your dad - so sorry to hear that. Stupid doctors, most of them just don't give a crap when dealing with older patients, do they? So glad he got some relief - is the treatment working?
OMG you're leaving for vacation sooooon! Have you packed your birkenstocks? :-D
Thanks Debby for the kind words today.. I am glad we finally have some warmer weather and can have the flowers.. Have a great day also.
I am glad your dad was able to get those shots and I hope the gets relief soon!!
eeek! u will be leaving before u know it!!
sorry about ur dad..u almost have to make them listen to u instead of trusting their advice
First- I can't believe that the Europe trip is SOOOO CLOSE! I am so excited to read all about it! I hope you find time to blog about your trip each day so you don't forget any of the details!
I'm so sad about your dad's diagnosis.. I really do think (after my Nan who will be 93 in August) that docs often write off older people... really makes me angry- I hope that the shots bring him some much needed relief.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY sometime soon! ;-)
I love June!!!
Hugs-
L
I am so excited about your upcoming trip. I know that flying is very difficult for you and I am beyond proud of you for going anyway. I can't wait to see some pictures. You deserve this.

So sorry about your dad, Debby. Hope he gets better. But how exciting to go on your trip very soon! Have fun and take lots of pictures....Christine
Sometimes I wonder if it's a good idea to change doctors every few years, just so things like that don't happen.
DC is a great place! I hope you get to go sometime soon.
