Fourteen years ago today we lost Princess Diana in that fatal car accident in Paris. I remember it like it was yesterday, my heart was heavy and I cried deeply.
1. Do you think the world became a more dangerous place on September 11, 2001 or did we just become more aware of the danger? How has your own life changed as a result of that day?
I think we just became more aware of the danger but our government should have been more on top of this! I can't handle disasters anymore, I just crumble with sadness. I don't live in fear though because we can't hide from living our lives.
2. Did you think your parents were too strict when you were growing up? How about in hindsight?
Absolutely not! There is a story behind this but I really had no restrictions but thank God I was a good girl in spite of that.
3. Share one random but candid fact about yourself.
I am a huge Big Brother fan. I have even been known to cry about it and get really worked up when things don't move in the direction I want them to.

4. Would your nearest and dearest describe you as simple or far too complicated?
He would say far to complicated but he just doesn't realize that simple acts of love would make me uncomplicated!
5. What is your favorite stadium or carnival food?
I think stadium would be hot dog & beer. Carnival/Fair would be a Funnel Cake. Our Jack in the Box had little ones for $1.00 this summer. I hear there are so many new fried options at the Fairs, I hope to go this year and taste them all!
6. Tornado, hurricane, earthquake...how many of these natural disasters have you experienced? Which event do you think would be the scariest?
Well I haven't been in a tornado but I lived in Illinois for my first 38 years of life and it was always scary each summer with the warnings. They storms were so violent but one never hit me. I haven't been in a hurricane but have been around twice when they were heading into Florida. I have been in the storms that follow across the land. Well I have experienced many earthquakes in my 22 years in California. I remember Northridge quake well and several Big Bear quakes that really rocked us. Swinging lights and waves coming out of the pool. Other then some new cracks in the stucco outside we have been good. I believe they are all scary in their own way and they all do horrific damage. It would be nice if we could have a warning of where the earthquakes would be!
7. Labor Day weekend is approaching so a work related question seems appropriate. Growing up, did your parents assign you regular chores? Were you paid for doing those chores? If you're a parent do you assign chores to your own children? Why or why not?
No I did not have regular chores other then maybe keeping my room clean. I don't remember being paid. When my children were growing up they needed to clean their rooms. As they got older I wanted them to clean their bathroom and our son cleaned the pool. Otherwise here are my thoughts: We bought this house to raise our family. We did not have children to take care of that house it was our responsibility. When they grow up and have children they will then buy their house, it will be their responsibility to take care of it. This is my opinion and I don't expect you to agree with it. They are both very neat, organized and take care of their places.

Do you see this? My dryer does this all the time with sheets. (this happens to be a quilt) I have never had a dryer that did this in all my years of doing laundry. It is fine with clothes. I've been dealing with this for 5 years now. I'm surprised I didn't share this with you sooner. So every ten minutes I go, unroll them and continue drying them. My sheets are always wrinkled and so was this quilt!

Hi Debby, I remember that day, I was on my way home with my dad, Jacob was a baby, and Jeff, we went fishing :(
I vividly remember the day I found out about Princess Diana. We just returned home from camping. Can't believe it has been 14 years.
Your drier made me laugh. Sorry, I know that must be very frustrating. I have never seen anything like that!
I remember Princess Diana's death very vividly, too.
My parents were too strict in some ways. I'm very different than they were as a parent.
Your dryer is definitely weird! I've never seen such a thing.
The dryer photo is funny! No idea why it does that. My parents were not strict at all. At times, I thought they didn't care at all.
My dryer does the same! It is super annoying! I remember Princess Diana's death too...hard to believe it was fourteen years ago.
My dryer does that (although not to the extreme that yours does). I've gotten to the point where I'll go and fluff up the sheets or quilts halfway through the cycle in hopes to avoid that. I'd love to get a new washer & dryer (even though mine are only 3 y.o.) because ours are SO noisy. We always had our washers & dryers in the basement, so we didn't even think about how loud a standard washer & dryer would be when the laundry room is just a few feet from the great room. If I got a new set, I'd do my best to get a dryer that wouldn't do that.
YES! My dryer does the very same thing. Drives me NUTS! I'm with you on the chores. The lovelies had to keep their rooms clean but I always helped. They would clear the dishes after meals and helped load them...but it was because they wanted to not because they had to. Hubs and I did most everything.
I started crying this a.m. when I saw a commercial bout a 9/11 show...nnot that it takes much to get me going. Memories can be so powerful. I think about how I will recount all of these momentous events when my kids ask me someday.
Hi!
I just hate it when the sheets get all tangled up. Then they don't dry all the way in the middle. Have a great day!

Food for Thought
sent you an e-mail from my autumn e-mail
must be a fast spinning dryer.. lol!!!
great questions but awesome answers this week!!
I like funnel cakes too.
I have also tried fried pickles and Oreos. The pickles are too salty, I think.
I also heard there is fried butter.
Who knows?
I wonder why your drier does that.
Maybe it thinks it's folding them =)
Ha ha!! I think your dryer is trying to do you a favour by folding your sheets for you :)
My dryer from before we moved into the parsonage did that. I hated it. It would roll us whatever was in the dryer with it. Dryer in parsonage does not do it....thank goodness.
yum fair food!
I agree with the house chores thing.. my parents said my job was school and they would give me money as long as my grades were good. Kids should help out tho to learn responsibility
my dryer does that if I don't put a dryer sheet to remove the static .. it creates static and makes it stick and cling together
9/11 did frighten me. I was scheduled to fly to New York City the December after 9/11 and I wouldn't go. Have never been. I'm kind of sorry now that I didn't go, but I knew if I saw the site of the twin Towers I would be devastated.
I told me husband one time that I wished he could get in my head so he would understand me and he laughed and said he would jump out so quick! :) He's a comedian. I am a very complicated person!
Mmmm, my dryer does not do that but my washer does when I am washing bed sheets or other bigger itmes. I always have to pull out one item from another....Chrsitine
I have been in every natural disaster but not an earthquake. The recent one I didn't feel but many did in our area. I was in the mall when it happened so that is probably why. They are all very scary I wish mother nature would calm down. My old dryer did this to blankets all the time. Pain in the you know what!
The dryer rolling up sheets and quilts would be a pain.
Simple acts of love make me uncomplicated too.
That would be so frustrating with the sheets.
Now I'm curious how you're feeling on Big Brother. Were you mad at Porsche for messing things up with Pandora's Box? I was!
We're Big Brother fans, too! We are not happy with the recent turn of events :(
I remember the day Princess Diana was killed, too. Such a sad, sad day.
Didn't realize Princess Di has been dead for 14 years. I remember where I was when I heard the news-so sad :(
Don't worry my dryer does the same.
6,200 Acres only 30% contained
I remember that day. I love Princess Di.
My Mom's dryer was like that.
Princess Diana died on my birthday. She had two sons and so did I. She went through a divorce during the same time I did. I identified with her and now am forever reminded of her death on my birthday.
You crack me up, I use to love Big Brother and be really in love with it. Not sure what happened just haven't liked it in the next few days.
Oh yes my husb if he only learned that too we would be so much better.
Oh man how I want to try all those fried candy bars. I'm always trying to do so well.
I can't believe your dryer does that too! Mine does the same thing drives me so nuts!!!
That happens with my large comforters and quilts, too. I used to have a couple of pairs of "dryer shoes" that I would put in with the large item and they would pound around and not allow the comforter to roll up like that. Since I moved into my condo - I don't use the shoes. It's too noisy for the neighbors.
Is it a front loader? Mine does the same thing!
