1. February 22nd is National Be Humble Day...what makes you proud? What keeps you humble?
My children make me proud. My handkerchief ministry makes me proud. The broken hearts in our world keep me humble.
2. Where is the catch-all (aka dumping ground) in your house?
I have things on one end of the kitchen counter and then my sink in the bathroom which drives me crazy. I love an empty bathroom counter and mine is a mess right now!
3. Do you make it a point to visit State/National Parks when you travel or even in your own hometown? What's your favorite?
Yes, definitely, they are a must!!! Hard to pick one, I have been to a lot of them.
4. How would you define honor?
I am super sleepy this week so I am just putting something from the dictionary cause nothing is coming to mind. HONOR: honesty, fairness, or integrity in one's beliefs and actions.
5. Angel's food or Devil's food-which cake do you prefer?
Angel Food is my choice!
6. What's the most recent road trip you've taken? Where did you go and how many hours did you spend in the car? Do you like to zoom to your destination without stopping or leisurely wind your way there with stops along the way? What is your car snack of choice?
Well we went to San Diego but that is a short car trip. Mammoth Lakes in the summer is about 5 1/2 hours. Since we stop for Jerky and Sheepherders Bread in Bishop, CA we don't pack anything. I usually have water. We don't normally eat in the car :)
7. Recent headlines told how a preschool child in NC had their packed lunch from home taken away and a school lunch substituted by a school inspector who deemed the homemade lunch unhealthy. Reportedly the parent was then billed for the school lunch (chicken nugget meal) although an update to the story says the parent was not billed. The inspector was conducting a routine inspection of the classroom-he/she was not there solely to peek in the lunchboxes. The packed lunch contained a turkey and cheese sandwich, an apple juice box, a bag of chips, and a banana. You can read the story here. Your thoughts?
It sounds like an okay lunch to me. I think they need to be looking for other important signs of abuse to children.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Want to say thank you to thank Nani at The Chronicles of Nani for giving me two awards last Thursday. If you don't know Nani just click on over and visit with her. I am a new follower of her blog. It always feels good to be noticed and loved.

Congrats on the awards and I too think the school went to far with whole lunch think.
So are the jerky and bread something special in this area? I've never heard of Sheepherders bread.
I love a clean bathroom counter too. I have lots of cabinets in this bathroom so no problem. My master bath in England had a pedestal sink! I had to get creative : )
I have the same "dumping ground" for junk, mail, etc. and I can't even talk about my bathroom counter. Ugh!
I think the school thing is just a little more Big Brother.
Our office is our catch all and at times it's embarrassing.
I am so with you on wanting a clear bathroom counter! My hubby is more cluttersome than me and we're working on some clutter solutions!
You're absolutely right on #7! There are many worse types of abuse than potato chips!
I used to do a lot of road trips in the past, but have not had the desire to anymore. I love scenic routes. Blessings to you Debby.
Yep counter clutter in the bathroom bugs me too!
Sounds like we're all on the same page as far as the school lunch incident is concerned...and you are so right about those who abuse kids.
We only eat our snacks in the car. One year on our way to Hilton Head, we packed sandwiches for our lunch break, but it just didn't save us much time. If we stop and get out of the car to eat inside, it gives DH a break from the driving, allows us to stretch our legs, gives us a bathroom break, etc. But we do snack a little while driving. And of course drink Diet Coke. ha!
I love what you said on #1. I am grateful that you do that. And #7 makes me mad. I agree that they should be looking at other things.
I have two cupboards which are my dumping grounds. I always say don't open any cupboards in my home lol. That lunch story makes me mad. I pack my child's lunch every day because he is picky and refuses to touch vegetables. If they ever gave my son those nasty chicken nuggets over what I pack, all h*ll would break loose!
Congrats on the awards:)
Great answers & I love angel food cake.
I think the whole school lunch deal was wrong. My girls pack most of the time & I pack them what I think they will eat. I don't think the school has any right to judge. Lots of other things they should be worried about I feel.
Have a great day !!!!
Enjoyed your answers! Congrats on the awards! Totally agree with you on #7 and you make a good point, unfortunately usually other abuse gets overlooked. Have a great week!
until next time... nel
I don't have a dumping ground at home... but, at work, well that is another story.
My catch all is my craft room - which, incidentally I should be cleaning now instead of blogging (hee hee).
Same here with bathroom-I desperately want a clutter-free area, but I am the one who clutters it up!
You sound kind of like me trying to come up with these definitions each week :) gives me a headache, kind of like I was back in school...LOL
Congrats on your awards.
You are the ANGEL cake and I am the DEVIL food cake - lol. sandie
great answers...
We don't go to state or national parks around here but I LOVE the Blue Ridge Parkway in NC! Around here it's just the Francis Marion park and it kind of sucks. But our county parks are fun!
I bought some organizer drawers from Bed Bath & Beyond. They fit nicely under the sink and it leaves the bathroom counter clutter free.
You are certainly worthy of those awards! :-D
I heard about the school lunch thing. The funny thing is that in our district the elementary kids have two choices and almost always one is some sort of pizza... We were joking that they will start calling it a vegetable pic topped with cheese! ;-)
I don't like a cluttered counter or sink either, and I love Devil's Food cake!
You don't have to eat in the car because you guys eat in the best restaurants!
No way, they swapped that lunch for Chicken Nuggets? Preposterous.
The lunch inspector needs to have more training for the job. First of all the lunch sent from home was so much healthier than the chicken nuggets crap. And things could have been handled better by the inspector and the school. Dang.
congrats to the awards :)
Oh man I have so many dumping grounds in the house from my lovely boys all 3 ... hehe
That school lunch story makes me crazy. I can't believe they took a homemade lunch away and substituted it with processed chicken nuggets without even consulting the parents. There's such a case to be made that the school lunches themselves are unhealthy. I mean -- really!
One of these days I'd love to travel through the USA visiting State Parks. So many of them sound so pretty!
The lunch story is a bizarre one. Chicken nuggets are junk food. How could that possibly be considered better than a meal that included a sandwich, banana and fruit juice?
Mmmm, Devil's food cake....
I'd go with Angel Food cake too :-)
I hadn't heard about the lunch incident...that seems a bit extreme, since the child's lunch really wasn't that bad. I can see if it were packed with candy and cookies...
