Thank you Joyce.
Head on over and join us!
1. I'm joining my daughter1 in the 101 in 1001 challenge. Essentially you create a list of 101 things you hope to do or accomplish in the next 1001 days. What's one thing you'd put on your list?
Two things come to mind for me: Get our family of six to Florida next summer to celebrate my father's 90th birthday and spend more time in Europe! I just thought of one more....have a grandchild although that isn't in my control :)
2. How many remote controls do you have in your house? What's one item in your home you wish could be operated by remote control?
I would say there are about 12 remotes in the house. I can't think of anything specific but I would love to be like the Jetson's and have a conveyor belt that will wash me, dress me and do my hair/make-up.
3. What does having it all mean to you? Is it attainable?
I would say that having a roof over your head, food on your table, having people who love you and having those you love healthy would be pretty perfect.
4. What's your favorite movie soundtrack?
I have so many! I buy movie soundtracks more than anything else. Garden State, Catch & Release, Dan in Real Life, Eat Pray Love, Hairspray, Rent, Keeping the Faith, Meet Joe Black, Music & Lyrics, No Reservations, This Christmas, Prime, Runaway Bride, Sex in the City, and The Bucket List to name a few. I do however listen to Dan in Real Life pretty often!
5. Describe the best view you've seen from a rooftop.
Probably downtown Chicago from the John Hancock building.
6. What's your least favorite thing about summer?
I miss my favorite TV shows. If you talking about weather, etc. I would have to say I don't have any complaints in California, however in Illinois is was ALWAYS the mosquito's!
7. Our weekly Hodgepodge falls on the first day of August. In ten words or less sum up your July.
Awesome Mammoth Lakes trip and precious days with my dad.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I want to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the opening ceremonies for the 2012 Olympics. I have also been watching as often as I can. I do enjoy the gymnastics and swimming but have watched other competitions too. I am now watching each evening with my dad.
I did wonder who approved the Ralph Lauren clothing. Nothing wrong with the clothing, I thought it was cute but who thought is was okay to have them made in China and not in the USA. Sorry but that just doesn't seem right. He apologized but it's a little late for that! Did that bother anyone else?
Ordered this for me!
P.S. For some reason the 3G Mobile Hotspot is running very slow for me so I may be around less than I thought

Love the shirt. Glad you're enjoying the Olympics! :)
A lot of us have similar answers to #3, guess we are all pretty happy with our lives. I've watched some of the Olympics and have enjoyed it a lot. Glad you are planning something special for your dads 90th birthday.
I hadn't heard about the clothes being made in China. But I do agree with you: that is a shame and could have done better.
Mind you, I've got the funny feeling most of the clothing for the Olympics was Made in China!
I started to put 'be a mother of the bride' on my list but since that's not something I can personally make happen I left it off : ) It will go on my wish list though!
I read a bit of background on the uniforms. Actually not that many garments are made in the US anymore at all. The world economy is global now and other countries can do certain things cheaper and more efficiently. The US has really gotten away from manufacturing in so many areas...kinda sad.
The China issue with the outfits bothered me as well. We have the capability to make those outfits...so we should have worn American.
I hope your hopes come true for the trip next year and the grandbaby :)
Wow...I didn't even realize the clothes are from china...blows my mind.
I agree with your answer to #3 :)
The issue with the Olympic uniforms bothers me, too! Last night was my first night watching the Olympics. I enjoyed what I saw, except for so many commercials :( I recorded the rest, and will zip through those!
I hope those items on your list come true!
You had great soundtracks listed! I have not heard Dan in Real Life I will have to check it out. I love finding new music :)
I'm disappointed that the US Olympic uniforms weren't made in the US, too, even though it doesn't seem that much is made in the US any more. I understand the economics of it, but it's still disappointing to me.
I am going to have to check out all those movies you mentioned. I haven't heard of most of them. I think it is sad that most of our clothing isn't made in the USA anymore. If we could make and buy our own clothes and cars maybe our unemployment rates would decrease ;)
Hahahaha- I almost put have a grandchild on my #1 too! I love the conveyor belt idea! I haven't seen or thought of the Jetsons in YEARS! I see your movie soundtrack list is long like mine. Yes, the uniforms being made in China bothered me too.
Hey Debby! 12 remotes!!! I think we have 2 :) We need to catch up to you Jetsons :)
I love the shirt too! I have been obsessed :) I DVR the whole day & then after the kids are in bed I watch the whole day in about 2 hours :) Then I watch a lot of it again the ext day with Annie :) We just finished watching the girl's gymnastics the 2nd time :) Have a great week!!!
my kids are glued to the TV! go USA!
USA's uniforms bothered me, too. Have watched more tv since the Olympics started than I have all summer.
I love these posts where we get to know one another better. We have a home-town gymnast (Jordyn Wieber) so we were all pretty happy last night! Of course, we all felt she was robbed and maybe that's just us! We are a little partial!
I didn't know about the Ralph Lauren shirts....hmmmm. :-((
My least favorite thing about summer is the heat!
And I hope you get everyone out to your dad's 90th birthday!
sandie
Well, you could adopt a child and give it to one of your kids as a gift... Not quite the way you were thinking of doing it, huh? ;)
Your ten words sound like an awesome July!
love that...get your family in florida to celebrate dad's 90th...Me? I have a ton of things I want to do...and they're all in my head. I should write them down and tick them off as I get them done. Stay cool out there Debby.....and enjoy the day.
I am really impressed by your whole movie soundtrack knowledge. I have this very strange inability to notice the music in movies. Except for a few very rare movies like I Am Sam.
Ahh that would be so nice if you all could be there next year to celebrate.
Ohh how I wish I was in a Jetson world!!
I love your answer for having it all :).
I agree hate when all my shows go away :( for the summer.
Hope your having fun!
Deb,
I've been catching up with your posts and found this one about the uniforms. I did a research project for a class last spring about the places our clothes are manufactured. The results were that over 90% of our clothes come from foreign countries. Very few stores purchase clothing from the US manufacturers which leads to the conclusion that manufacturing in the US has decreased drastically in the last decade, courtesy of the US gov.
BTW, love the Pandora charm! Good choice.
