1. Share your traditions surrounding the Christmas stocking.
Christmas stocking were never really big in my house growing up. We did St. Nicholas Day on December 6th which is a tradition from Europe. St. Nicholas also visited our children when they were little. I did stockings too but only until they grew up. So we no longer do stockings. St. Nicholas will start again when we have grandchildren.
2. How many hours of sleep do you average at night? Is it enough?
2. How many hours of sleep do you average at night? Is it enough?
I get at least 7 hours a night. Unless I have a restless night with issues on my mind I would say I get enough.
3. If you had to give up one thing for the remainder of this year what would it be?
Since I made a low-carb lifestyle change in mid-January this year I can't think of anything else to give up however if I was asked to give up something so someone could have a better Christmas I would gladly give something up.
4. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (or Wills and Kate as I like to call them) have announced they're expecting a baby. Do you follow news of the Royals?

I seldom have fruit cake but I don't dislike it. A friend of mine has a more modern fruit cake that is really pretty good. I really do like The Pioneer Woman's Blackberry Cobbler.
I will be lucky to accomplish getting all the ornaments on the trees and the other decorations out...not to mention shopping for all the gifts. If I didn't accomplish my goals this year I don't think December is not the time to start!
8. Insert your own random thought here.
We had a nice birthday celebration for Mark on Sunday. We ordered in P.F. Chang's and got a couple of "I declairs" at Claim Jumper for dessert. He didn't feel like going out because it was Sunday and football was on and I didn't feel like cooking! It was a good day.
Yesterday I purchased 90% of the gift cards I need to mail out of town to family. I will finish up later this week. Today I will be doing all the online shopping for our kids and I will be working on finishing up the trees and decorating the house this week. Then I can start doing some Christmas baking. I love this time of year!!! I also have to get down all the boxes in our closet and so what gifts I bought throughout the year. It will be a surprise for sure!
Happy Wednesday to all of you..............
Thank you Joyce for the questions. Head on over and play along!

Sounds like your gonna have a Holly Jolly Time!!! I always love seeing your tree.
I pulled gifts out of my closet recently and found something I bought last summer that I was going to give my sister for her birthday in November. Completely forgot it was there. Oh well : ) I donated it to a charity silent auction so it worked out.
Have fun with your decorating and baking! I'm getting ready to start baking too.
I'm mostly done with Christmas shopping other than the candy part of the stockings. We got the tree and I put the lights on, but I'll wait for my older son to get hoe to decorate it. Other than that, I just want to have a relaxing time.
Fruit cake - a big no for me!
We are making Christmas easy this year only shopping for the babies... Watching them is gift enough for all of us
Wish I was that far along in my Christmas shopping. Hopefully after this weekend I will be.
Your Sunday sounds like a wonderful day.
Reading your post makes me feel better. I'm running behind with my decorating, too. I think you and I are "soul sisters" when it comes to Christmas decorating :) We'll eventually get it finished. Happy decorating!
I answered blackberry cobbler for #6 also. I've never made TPW's cobbler ... I'm definitely going to go find her recipe and use it the next time I make a cobbler (which just might be sooner rather than later).
I, too, just love this time of year!
That blackberry cobbler looks amazing! :)
I am so all over that blackberry cobbler. I love cobblers and that one looks good enough to eat....i think I could smell it when I looked at the picture.
I look forward to seeing your Christmas trees!!! They are a treat to be able to see each year.
it sounds like you're in pretty good shape
for the holidays. they are so much more
enjoyable when we pace ourselves, huh?
Don't you just LOVE online shopping? Most of my gifts have been purchased on Amazon this year...so easy. Not good for the local economy, but so good for me!
That cobbler is looking sooo good about now (it's nearly lunch time). I have both of her cookbooks...will have to look that recipe up. What all have you given up on your low-carb diet? I know some who are trying to eliminate them completely. I don't think I could do that.
Sounds like you have just about everything done for the season. Good for you. I love having it all done early just so I can relax and watch all the others run around trying to get it all done.
We did St. Nick when I was growing up, and continued it with the boys. I think this is the first year I haven't done it; with YS being 18, I figured they probably didn't care about it. (Now watch YS ask me about it when he gets home from school today...darn that German teacher!)
You are certainly on your toes with the Christmas gifts. I just started buying things about a week ago...time is of the essence!
The only thing I got from St Nicholas this year was a bill. Albeit for less than $5, so it wasn't too bad!
I like your answer for #3 :-)
Yum, the blackberry cobbler looks delicious! Enjoy your online shopping today.
Sounds like you are getting all under control! Blackberry cobbler looks yummy.
I agree with you on #7; I'm thinking about what I want to accomplish before the end of 2013 now! :)
We have most of our shopping done, and I have most done for David. Trouble this year is he had an assignment for work to go to stores and get last minute gift ideas for a story, which of course is not researched last minute. Now he's bringing home gifts or ideas for the nieces and nephew, which he's never done and I had to explain why you don't get a gift "for the car" for a 15-year old who won't be in driver's ed until next year because you give a gift they can use now. Our niece doesn't need a high tech tire gauge yet. I don't know if the nieces want tire gauges for little gifts to go with the gift cards at all. LOL
But I agree, online shopping is the best!
So you never ever eat sweets? Darn that is my downfall. I follow the royalty too. And the one sweet I don't like is fruitcake! lol sandie
You are so ahead of me, it's not funny! I prefer a cobbler to fruit cake as well and that one sounds delicious. I'm a "royal nut" and admit it proudly. Ann
I wouldn't want to go out on Sundays either. For the same reason- football! Oh, and Saturdays. LOL I haven't shopped one bit yet. But I am knitting the homemade gifts. 5 down, 2 to go! Interesting tradition the St. Nicholas Day.
Mark's birthday celebration sounded good; neat too that we have so many delicious places close by to bring food in that we don't have to leave home if we don't want to (except to pick up the delivery, LOL :)
Sounds like you are doing great getting everything ready for Christmas Debby!
betty
You sound organized...good for you!

You are so busy! I love the question about the Royals! As soon as I heard she was expecting, I thought of you! ;-)
I've never had PF Chang's in the restaurant, only their frozen meals. And those are really good. I get about 8 hours of sleep a night, sometimes more. I'm a lazy riser.
I still have to get a few gifts and mail them out but I am done for most of the part. I am also done decorating our house for Christmas. Did you see my decor? Did you put your tree up yet with all your pretty Hallmark ornaments?...Christine
Debby...I love reading through your answers. And fruit cake...yuck. But that blackberry cake with blueberries would be yum.
Christmas stockings might be my favourite part of our morning:) We open them one at a time while eating cookies and drinking OJ and coffee. Mmm Can't wait!
Very lovely Debby. Blessings.
I never try to say what I'll accomplish in a year, if I did, I'd disappoint myself for sure!
I just got all the gift cards for Christmas and I need to get them in the mail pronto! I decided this year, I was mailing all the"big" kids stockings to them and let them handle that! I can never think of stocking stuffers anyway and it distresses me!
I want to try that cobbler with blueberries....I'm not wild about blackberries! .
Laughter...the best sound at any age
Man I gave up sugar and carbs no more items ... lol
That cobbler is making my mouth water!
