1. May is National Blood Pressure Month...what sends yours soaring, either literally or figuratively? What calms you down? When did you last have your bp checked?
Seems like a lot of things send it soaring these days. I seem to be losing patience for some things lately. I actually have high blood pressure and am on 2 medications for it. Since Mark recently got on HBP medication our monitor is sitting on his bathroom counter so I check is every once in awhile.
Gee, how do I choose :) Maybe a pack of gum or a candy bar. Neither would be for me. Now ten $100.....I would first have to find out if someone was missing them. Then it would be a choice between a Louis Vuitton purse or going to the casino. It been a while since I've done either of those things. I know I should be saying I would give it to church and I've done that many times with found money. Not necessarily in the street sense of found money but in an inheritance sense. I could definitely put it into my handkerchief ministry but today as I type this I am in for some fun!
3. Mandatory labeling of genetically engineered (GE) food has been proposed, but not enacted in the US. How much attention do you give food labels before you buy? Are you in favor of labeling if it means an increase in food prices? Is this an issue you've been following and feel strongly about, or is this the first you've heard of the controversy?
It is an issue I have known about. I would like a big GE on the front of the item like they put Organic! I do look a the nutritional value of the food I buy but I don't always read the tiny print although I do try to see if something has aspartame in it!
4. May 15th marks the birth date of Frank Baum, author of The Wizard of Oz. At this point in time, are you more in need of brains, courage, heart, or a trip back home? Explain.
I'm in need of a heart and maybe throw in some courage for good measure! Things have been tense in this house and I will post about it at some point.
5. "There's no place like home" is an oft repeated line from Baum's book. When was the last time you felt the truth of that statement?

I think I feel that statement most days. Especially when I am thanking God for his protection over us.
6. Steak...yes please or no thank you? What cut do you prefer and how do you like yours cooked? Sauce or no sauce? Besides your own kitchen, where's a place you like to go to get a great steak?
Yes please. I like my steak medium and usually no sauce although the steak I had on Mother's Day had a sauce that was amazing. Well I would say The Palm or Mario's which is where we ate on Sunday and of course there are several other wonderful steak houses that I have eaten at. Mark and I did agree when we were in San Diego that we had our best steak ever at The Palm that day.

7. When was the last time you were in a genuine hurry?
I can't think of a time recently but I can tell you I witnessed our daughter in a hurry just last Saturday. Didn't hear her up and being the day before Mother's Day I assumed they might be opening early. Well I finally asked her if she needed to be up. It was 7:40 AM when I asked and they opened at 8:00! She was in a genuine hurry! Fasted shower ever on record for that girl....

SEASON FINALES:
I am a huge fan of Primetime Television. (I do not watch daytime TV or very many reality TV shows) I will admit that I am better than I was years ago although I still have a lot of favorites and my DVR tapes several hours each night. I even have to do a few on Mark's DVR because of conflicts like Grey's/Glee/Person of Interest all on at the same time!
A few years ago I decided not to take on new shows and even though I have taken on a few from time to time I have remained strong on this one. That way each year I have less shows that I am attached to when a favorite has run its course and is no longer on. I remember the day when I use to have 3 VCR's set to tape my shows....we have come a long way baby!
When this time of year arrives with everyone having their season finales I feel a little bit of joy in my heart. I love my shows and come September I can't wait for them to return but the reprieve of Summer brings me a small sense of freedom.
Update: Read #2 wrong....it should be $10 and a $100. I guess I was thinking big!

A dollar? What can you even get for a dollar any more? When I find money (I have found a couple of twenties before), I don't do anything special with it - it just gets absorbed into the regular money.
I'd like to see the labeling of GE foods.
You can get a Jr Frosty for $1 :-)
have to agree with you on new shows. i've not picked up any this year and stuck with those i was already hooked on. now several of those are being cancelled, so i'll probably add one or two out of next season's line-up to add.
a dollar would be tough to spend. :)
Nice to visit you today!
I like my steaks well done. And I think so many things can raise our b/p up. Now I have a bone to pick with you - you have a huge heart and you are a woman of courage - I know that for a fact. sandie
I am mailing your dad's card tomorrow. I hope it won't be too late.
Praying for you for courage and heart and for all to be at peace again!
I know what you mean about trying to keep up with shows! Tuesdays are my 'night of conflicts' with the DVR.
Hope your tense situation resolves itself soon.
I'm sorry things have been stressful in your home lately. I hope this tough time passes quickly! :-)
LOL I say with that site you found you may find a purse for $100 :).
Hope everything is ok? You always have heart my dear. <3 loves
We have cable so I don't DVR shows, I just log on to the On Demand and watch what I want, when I have time. I don't do a lot of TV so it's not a big thing with me. I sure hope everything is OK with you and your health.
What cute two dogs you have :) What a bummer to wait at the vets like that. My dog is usually patient but when the vet comes in he begins to shake.
I'm going to try my best to remember to put a card in the mail for your dad tomorrow-sounds like fun!
Hope the tension ebbs at home. Hugs xo
I have a few favorite shows that will be ending for the season soon. It means that summer is near :)
Oh, your answer to #2 was funny!.. Yes, you might want to call the police, if you stumble upon THAT much money!.. That or just leave it there! (0; Unfortunately, knowing nothing, in some cases, can be the best policy!.. As for t.v.? I don't follow anything religiously, really... Not these days anyways. But I do like Glee, American Idol.. The Big Bang Theory most always has me laughing my head off!! Love that one!... Nice meeting you today, via Wednesday Hodgepodge! Have a great week! ~tina
The news these days drives my BP way up...I take medicine too..
I think courage is what I need most of all, I'm afraid of many things!
I'm loving the Voice this season .....I sometimes have conflicts in my DVRing too.
I have 2 meds for bp too. The lasix is for water retention from BP and adema. Sadly, I go to the doctor's office enough that I don't really have to have a monitor at home.
I like your interpretation of #2 better! I could use ten $100 bills too! :)
I watch a lot of news before I go to bed at night. I'm sure my b/p must be sky high by the time I go to bed. I usually take a nerve pill before I go to bed. (no joke)
I love that you were thinking big on the money question.
$1! oh darn I have got to make a note to send a card to your Father xo
When I found 5 dollars on the floor at the grocery store I turned it in & just left & then I thought...hey they should have taken my name in case no one claimed that :) So I did the right thing & then I was greedy! I am sure the clerk just kept it but she deserved it! That's hard work! I think you need the purse! Don't waste it at the casino ;)
Fun questions Debby!!!
I'm not fanatical about foods being organic, but the genetically engineered stuff scares me. Read yesterday about some corn that they are engineering the pesticide right into...that means you won't be able to wash it off. You'll be eating it in every bite. That cannot be a good thing. :/
I love that you were thinking big!! You really can't buy much for $10.00...maybe a Starbucks :)
Blessings to you Debby.....
High blood pressure is serious stuff...glad you are taking care of it!
i always feel like there is no place like home, but I feel more like that after sandy
There really is no place like home. Hugs Debby. Have a great weekend.
I feel like I am ALWAYS in a hurry! That must be why I have BP issues too! Need to slow down and not self-impose stress. I do love a good steak! Best one I've had lately was at a restaurant in Koreatown called "Taylor's". It's an old-school steak house and it was perfect! Ann
Being a Kansas native, the Baum line "There's no place like home." is a bit special to me and I use it a alot.
I found $1 yesterday - used it for a tip since I assumed it was dropped by another customer.
I have had high BP for 19 years, no fun. Never missed a day of taking my meds. Hope you can keep your BP down.
