Head on over and join in!
Thank you Joyce...
1. What's one thing you learned in September?
Other than it passing by too quickly I can't think of anything that stands out. Oh wait I did learn something....you can't change people who don't want to change!
2. Acorn squash, butternut squash, spaghetti squash, yellow squash, zucchini squash, or blech! hold the squash... what's your favorite squash? What's your favorite way to prepare your favorite squash?

I'm actually just getting into squash. I really like spaghetti squash and have one on my counter to make. It is really good with just some butter. I also recently got some cut up butternut squash at Trader Joe's that you can microwave and it was awesome!
3. The older I get the bigger my desire has grown to have less....simplify!
4. What's your favorite television theme song ever?
There are too many...."Lavern and Shirley"....."Fresh Prince of Bel Air"....."Cheers"...."All in the Family". Of course today with a DVR I don't listen to many theme songs after the first time I hear them.

5. What do you wish you'd spent more time doing five years ago?
Going through things and getting rid of clutter because I wasn't on my computer like I am today and I haven't done much of anything when it comes to organization in our home for over 4 years now. Sure I say I'm going to but I don't. The other big thing would have been spending more time on eating healthy and getting the weight off. The older you get the harder it becomes.
6. What item do you most need (or want) to add to your wardrobe this fall?
I can't think of anything.
7. On October 2, 1950 the Peanuts cartoon was introduced to the world. What was your favorite cartoon when you were a kid?
In the paper it would be Nancy and Sluggo.
On TV it would have been The Flintstones.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I went out last Friday to see Baggage Claim and I really enjoyed it. Paula Patton is the main character in the movie and she was so good. Also there were two friends from her job that were so funny. I will probably by this movie when it comes to DVD. I really enjoyed the story line.

"Pledging to keep herself from being the oldest and the only woman in her entire family never to wed, Montana embarks on a thirty-day, thirty-thousand-mile expedition to charm a potential suitor into becoming her fiancé."

I've been wanting to try spaghetti squash, but just haven't gotten around to it yet. I think the time is coming soon! Thanks for the movie recommendation...I'd been wondering if it was worth seeing. I sure miss "Big Brother", don't you?
I've never been to Trader Joe's. The nearest one is about 45 min. away, but it's on my list of 'to do' one day. I've made spaghetti squash before and used alfredo sauce from a jar on it... it was actually pretty good. (I think that was when I was doing the low carb thing) Isn't it funny how we can memorize those theme songs from our fav. shows and never forget them??
If you haven't tried it yet, an acorn squash cut in half and roasted with a little butter and maple syrup in the place where the seeds were is delicious.
And Amen to #3!
in sept I learned that some dreams do come true!
we can't change people even if they want to change... they have to do the changing.. when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of changing, we will change. I learned that in Overcomers group meetings.
i have heard of doing the microwave thing with a squash but have not tried it. i love squash.
I loved Nancy and sluggo to and also the Flintstones.. my favorite ever cartoon was the roadrunner.
I'm in love with spaghetti squash...I always loved the Flintstones...
tv show theme song - probably 'dallas'. still love it.
I love butternut squash and Trader Joe's :) Spaghetti squash is really good with marinara sauce and low in carbs :)
I've never tried any of the squash except yellow or zucchini. Reading all these ideas makes me want to give the others a try!
I learned in September to be an independent adult not worried about what everyone will think.
There are lots of ways to cook Spaghetti squash, just look on Pinterest. Lots of good theme songs on the blogs this week. Bring back memories.
I'm beginning to feel the urge to 'simplify', too. It must come with growing older :(
I forgot about Nancy and Sluggo! Good choice :)
You're so right--you can't change people who don't want to change, and there are an awful lot of them!!! Sigh.
I'm going to try the spaghetti squash, Debby. I, like you, want to try more squashes, I think they aren't too bad for us with healthy eating, right? I'm with you, it is harder to lose the weight the older we get.
betty
I roasted butternut squash in the oven last night. Just spread the cut up squash on a cookie sheet and drizzle with maple syrup. Roast on 400 for about thirty minutes, turning every now and then. Yum!
Chose Flintstones as my favorite cartoon. I want to simplify and downsize with age.
I have to tell you that I couldn't think of any tunes - you thought a lot of good ones.
I TOTALLY AGREE - with you that the older I get the less I want - I want to simplify my life.
I am not into the squashes.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
sandie
I love you go see movies I would never see then you push me into wanting to see them :)
