1. The USA will mark Columbus Day this year on Monday, October 14th. What's something you need or want to explore (literally or metaphorically speaking)?
Europe, but more realistically would be the stuff hiding in my closet and a few boxes still in the garage from moving 7 years ago!
2. The Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz, Ursula from The Little Mermaid, or Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty...who do you most love to hate?
I'm going to say Maleficent.
3. Is open-mindedness a virtue?
Heck I don't have a clue but I would say that time and wisdom makes open-mindedness easier or makes it harder.....like I said I don't have a clue!
4. How often do you weigh yourself?
Everyday....
5. This question comes to you courtesy of Rebecca over at Making Memories, so thanks Rebecca! Costa Rica was recently named the happiest country in the world on the Happy Planet Index. What's the happiest country in the world to you, and what makes it so?
Well I guess I will say the United Kingdom because I am infatuated with the Royal Family.
6. Besides The Bible, what is one book you think should be mandatory reading for high school students? Why?
Not much of a reader so I have no suggestions.
7. I went shopping at some nearby outlets last week, and while I was there, I picked up a couple of Christmas gifts. How about you? Have you started your holiday shopping yet?
Yes, I buy gifts during the year if I happen to find something perfect for someone on my list.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Last Friday I went out to see "Prisoners" and in my opinion it was excellent. It kept me at the edge of my seat and I never felt the ending coming. Hugh Jackman, and Jake Gyllenhaal were excellent along with the other talented cast members like Viola Davis, Terrance Howard and Paul Dano.
"When Keller Dover's daughter and her friend go missing, he takes matters into his own hands as the police pursue multiple leads and the pressure mounts. But just how far will this desperate father go to protect his family?"

I am afraid that this is the first year that I haven't Christmass shopped by now. I usually have it done by Halloween and I've not started at all yet! OH MY! Good for you.
I love what you wrote about open-mindedness and wisdom! I think you are a pretty wise woman, Debby.
At first I thought I hadn't heard of that movie, but then I read the synopsis...I just didn't know the title!
You're the first Maleficent I've seen!
i like reading all these things about you each week, makes you seem more real to me..
nope, no christmas for me, yet. :)
I want to see Prisoners just because my boyfriend, Hugh Jackman is in it :)
Sounds like an interesting movie!
I, too, need to explore the content of my closet :)
My DIL cleaned up some boxes from a move over 5 years ago. Besides finding an outdated bill she found some books that the children have a new interest in reading.
I'll have to see Prisoners, Debby; sounds good. It could be interesting to see what are in those boxes stored away after your move 7 years ago; might be lots of fun things you forgot about :)
betty
I didn't watch sleeping beauty that much, i found most of those disney princess movies boring. I always liked the ones about animals better. I would have picked Cruella Deville for my answer!
I Weigh myself everyday too! But I might not tomorrow because I think today I ate every single thing I saw ! :) I had better!
You are ahead of me on your shopping then...I haven't bought one gift even! & my neighbor put up this count down to Christmas sing already & it freaks me out! Less than 80 days! I try not to look :)
SOrry I have not been at my computer much these days! Kit had a few health things we were dealing with..but it feel so good to sit down at my computer tonight! hopefully I will be better at stopping by! I miss ya when I don't! :)
I buy things also through the year as I see them. I have a couple wrapped in the top of our closet now.
Have a good day!
I buy gifts throughout the year as well. I read this really interesting bit about Columbus and who he really was this morning. It's on my facebook. Sorry I haven't been around much. Things have been CRAZY!
Interesting about Costa Rica - I loved visiting and would seriously consider retiring there.
Good tidbits of information here Debby. I haven't started any Christmas shopping...Blessings.
I agree on the open mindedness thing. With age,I have become more open minded about a lot of things and less about some. hmm....
Debby - you and I are alike in the buying of presents - as soon as Christmas is over - I start to buy for the next year!!!
My daughter saw Prisoners and said it was really scary. We have not been to the movies all summer. I think I'd like to see Captain Phillips though-that looks good. And of course I am eagerly awaiting The Hunger Games-the second book was my favorite.
