1. Share something you appreciate (or something you appreciated as you were growing up) about your mother.
I know that my mother was a very compassionate person, she loved her church and Christmas. I have to be honest and tell you that my mother was deeply depressed and my memories are few.
2. A quote most commonly ascribed to Plato reads "Necessity is the mother of invention." When did this last play out in your own experience?
Don't have an answer.
3. Share one of the earliest memories you have from childhood.
I remember being very young, probably before kindergarten, being out on the front porch and I believe my brother locked the front door. My sister who was 2 years older was knocking on the door to get in because she has to pee and she ended up peeing in her pants.
4. When did you last 'hit the mother lode'? What was it?
Don't have an answer.
5. What is/was your favorite dish mom made? Do you make that dish for your family/friends now that you're all grown up?
She made a great lasagna and yes I do make it for my family.
6. Mother May I? was at one time a popular children's game. It required no equipment or parts to play. What was your favorite childhood game where you could just turn up and play-no gear needed?
Hide and seek. I also enjoyed kick the can and flashlight tag but you did need the flashlight or a can.
7. Which TV mom (past or present) is your favorite, and why?
There are so many, I have always been a huge fan of TV sitcoms and I liked them all. From The Donna Reed Show, Father Knows Best, Leave it to Beaver, The Cosby Show and everyone in between all the way to Roseanne.

Love the picture. I miss a clothesline. Happy Mother's Day to you Debby!
Love your random thought!
Happy early Mother's Day to you!! My earliest memory is watching my mom do liquid embroidery back when people were having home parties to sell the stuff. I wanted to 'play' with her paints so much!! She never stayed interested in crafts, but I still enjoy them.
i do appreciate your honesty. not all childhoods are full of rainbows and unicorns and some of our memories are not joyful.
Love this post, and especially the little boy hanging on the clothesline! I remember when my brother and I were just little, one winter there was a lot of snow, and we ran outside naked and laid in the snow and made snow angels. We were quick about it though! LOL
LOL with your random thought! Ain't that the truth though! It is neat what you do have of your mom with being compassionate, loving her church, and Christmas. You live out the compassion and I know you truly love Christmas too!
betty
LOVE the picture! haha I am going to share it with my daughter and daughter in laws as this is right where they are all at. Happy Mothers Day to you!
Lol I love, love love that picture! I have a little guy about that exact same size that I would love to do that to most days:)
OK, that picture made me laugh...and, boy, does it ever speak the truth! Hope your Mother's Day is wonderful, Debby!
ah yes Hide N Seek was an old classic. I don't know what its like being a mom but i have babysat, i can imagine it isn't the easiest thing in the world. Like that photo you posted. :o) Have a great weekend!
Your mom's lasagna sounds like it's wonderful!
I love the picture! Too funny!
Happy Mother's Day, Debby! I hope you have a nice one! :-)
Funny your earliest memory of being locked out!
Hope you have a great day on Sunday :-)
My Mom makes a pretty good lasagna too! My mom really isn't that good of a cook...she believes nothing expires so we often get sick after eating her food! I think its the Irish in her nothing goes to waste! Happy Wednesday!
I didn't have an answer to most of the questions this week (thats why I didn't play, lol).
I'm so sorry about your mother. Depression is a horrible thing.
I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!
Debby, my own mother had issues, too, so I struggled with question #1, too... (It's comforting to know I wasn't alone)
That's a great random thought! I know I've sure felt that way a few times :)
OMGoodness....Hide and Seek!!! However did I forget that one. You were really using your thinking cap...it completely passed right over me when I was trying to think of a game.
Laughed at your sister being locked out...that sounds like a sibling memory to be sure.
LOL if it would hold the boys I so would do that .. lol
Great picks of TV Mom's :)
Great photo...Happy Mother's Day!
Cute random thought! Wishing you a happy Mother's Day!!!
HI Debby! Thank you for your honesty, and your fun answers too. (I love that image you have with the child on the clothesline. Who hasn't imagined that in their mom-life?)
We loved kick the can! We'd play it at twilight. So fun. And hide and seek too.
I pray that you will have a Happy Mothers Day too :)
Blessings,
Ceil
I always have a hard time answering childhood questions because so many are bad. My earliest memories are actually sad ones too so I jumped ahead to one that was good. My dad wasn't in that memory because he was out of our lives for a while when I was young. Your poor little sister having to pee her pants! That is the worst feeling. Now that I'm older and parts don't work as well as they used to, I feel like I've come full circle and I'm peeing my pants again! LOL! :-)
My mom's lasagna was very good, but I just don't take the time to make it. It's a special treat when I do!
Have a wonderful Mother's Day, Debby!
Between you and I - hugs and love for number 1.
