Volume 175
Thank you Joyce!
1. Under what circumstances do you do your best thinking?
I find I do my best thinking when I am in a calm and peaceful place. When I'm stressed I go to places that are not really productive. I also do some great thinking while taking a shower!
2. Are you a risk taker? What's one big risk you've taken?
I think this would be a no! (Can't think of anything right now)
3. Some of the most common phobias according to the National Institute for Mental Health are-fear of spiders (arachnaphobia), snakes (ophidiophobia), heights (acrophobia), fear of spaces from which escape is difficult (agoraphobia), fear of thunder and lightening (astrophobia), fear of dogs (cynophobia), injections (trypanophobia), social situations, flying (pteromerhanophobia) and fear of germs and dirt (mysophobia). True phobias affect only about 10% of adults, but of those listed which would you rate as your greatest fear?
I would definitely say snakes, I don't like them but I have to say I am more fearful that Skye will encounter one outside.
4. Are you settled or do you feel the need to move somewhere new?
I feel the need to move somewhere. Don't get me wrong I love our home, it is perfect and the city lights/mountain views have me in awe daily. Can see fireworks from about 10 surrounding towns. So why don't I feel settled?
Buying this house was a big deal, an investment to leave to our children someday and then the economy crashed. Sometimes you can't see the forest through the trees, then you turn 60 and this huge light bulb goes off. Suddenly you see things in a whole new light.
So retirement and moving will be coming in the years ahead and I hope to feel more settled then. I feel ready for the less is more way of living because frankly I am tired of cleaning this big house! Yes I could get someone to clean it but I have trust issues with strangers in my house.
5. What is something you find annoying when dining in a restaurant?
Seeing people on their phones annoys me.
6. Daffodil yellow, sunset orange, spring green, or sky blue...your favorite color this time of year?
Sorry Joyce but I find them all breathtaking.
7. If you were going to take a holiday all by yourself, where would you go?
Gosh, I could come up with a long list of places. I'm not uncomfortable to go alone so I'm going to say Europe. Actually the 3 weeks we spent in Europe 3 years ago I did 80% of the sightseeing by myself because Mark was working. (Of course it was nice to have someone around at the end of the day)
8. Insert your own random thought here.

Things are about to get very busy around here and the next seven weeks will involve a lot of travels so I may not be around as often as I usually am with packing, traveling, unpacking, laundry, packing, traveling, unpacking, laundry......you get the point! I will try to catch up when I can.

#4 struck a chord. I bought my current house imaging I'd live in it forever. Now I'm happy to be moving to a smaller house with a smaller yard - so much less upkeep!
happy birthday to your sis. :)
and good luck with future plans to unsettle/resettle.
I'm with you. Hoping to move to something smaller in the next couple of years. My house is fine, but I don't want any more mowing or shoveling snow. So a condo would work best for us.
Praying for safe travels for you.
Frank and I had that retirement thought a few years ago...and it worked out that we got a parsonage...after what I have been through with my mom's house...I don't want my kids to have to go through that.
I understand about wanting a smaller place. When we built our new home, we downsized for the same reasons. Your views must be incredible, though!
I don't know what you are about to be up to, but I hope you enjoy your time off! We'll still be here when you return :)
You never know what the real estate market will do here over the next few years so who knows, might be good to hold on to the house for a few more years while you guys are getting ready to retire. I like to think in the shower too.
Happy birthday to your sister, I love the pictures of you all in your younger days! You're the youngest?
How exciting to have the travel/trips planned that you do, Debby; something to look forward to.
I too am not fond of snakes. I thought I saw one slither across our backyard the other day (it looked like a garden snake). I'm hopeful the multiple cats we have here will take care of it, so to speak.
betty
Have fun traveling!!! :-) I feel the same way about the phones (though I usually pass them to the kids when we're done and waiting for the check! I did see a mom today at the ballgames who was on her phone and it was driving me nuts. Not watching a game or the two little kids that were with her. sad.
I see the shower is a common place to think! I always think of things I need to add to my shopping list when I'm in the shower, but then I forget to write it down or what it was!
I think I have to agree with your answer to people on phones in a restaurant. I just don't understand that constant need to be connected.
Happy birthday to your sister and I love that the photo! Very nice looking group.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend and enjoy your traveling!
You and your sister are beautiful! Have fun living;)
Enjoyed the answers. I too can think when i am calm!
I agree with seeing people on their phone and considered that for my answer. It is the norm now instead of talking and interacting.
Enjoy your travels!

Fear of flying...EEEK!
Definitely settled - I love my home and neighborhood! My family moved around all the time when I was growing up, so I truly value being able to put down roots in just one place!
Spring green!
Have fun traveling, Debby! Sounds exciting! And Happy Birthday to Darcy!!
Can I do the hodgepodge again??
1. Oh, ditto to your thoughts!
2. NO! My biggest risk? Moving to the mountains two years ago after 29 years in the same house, same town.
3. My greatest fear? Germs.
4. I am still adjusting to this new home, new town - but I don't foresee moving again. So, in that sense, I'm settled.
5. Oh, ditto again!
6. Spring green. (And I really like the combination of orange and green).
7. Scotland.
8. I'm so glad we've met in Blog Land!
GOD BLESS!
