If you watch the news you may have heard about the fire near Corona California. It was also listed at the Prado Dam Flood Control Basin Fire.
Yes we could see it from our yard and as of this morning you can still smell it in the air.
Our entire yard was filled with ash by Sunday morning. Mark and I were leaving early to go pick up Adam at so we told Amber if she had time we would appreciate her hosing down the furniture and patios.
To our surprise, when we returned home early Sunday evening, the yard had been hosed!
Okay, hosing may not be the best thing to do in a drought but we felt it was necessary. We have as a house owner turned our sprinklers down 20% to do our part. We have not been given restrictions yet.
This was a solid soft charred leaf. Not crispy at all!
The hood of Mark's car when we left.
I will be posting our fun day with Adam later this week.

so glad it is ash and not fire, these fires are horriffic and much more scary than wind and rain and floods, because with rain there is a chance with fire none... very scary
oh, dear. much too close for comfort!
Hope that it doesn't get any closer to you, stay safe.
Very scary and way too close. I'm glad you all are all right.
Like I said on Facebook, way too early in the season for fires! I hope this is not a taste of things to come!
betty
So sad :(, my prayers with the families.
Dear Debby, I so remember how scary it was when we lived on a street that backed up to Open Space and fires would happen. I became so aware of the sound of fire planes and would scan the hills to watch for fires. Here we are in the flat lands, but Fort Collins and the Rockies often have wild fires.
Thankful that all you had to deal with was ash; praying that they are out soon.
Hugs, Noreen
Wow. I hope they are able to get the fire out. Glad you are okay.
So frightening. Take care and God bless.
Debby,
Oh my goodness! I don't think I could live around fires!
I think I'd rather go through the threat of a tornado, instead.
xoxo
I am so glad that you are okay - will that ash hurt the car and yard?
If there would be a fire close by, I would be terrified. All the houses here are made of wood and charred stuff falling out of the sky, might still be very hot and dangerous. Glad your home was okay and you only had to deal with ash and such.
I don't watch the news much and wasn't aware that there was another fire ... so close. Stay safe.
Oh my! Stay safe.
Moving to the mountains three years ago brought the danger of fire onto my radar. Being evacuated for four days the next year brought the fear of fire home.
This season I am praying that those of us who live in Southern California (and everywhere, really) will be protected from the ravages of wildfire.
It's so scary...
Those are such incredible shots, Debby! I can't imagine seeing something like that.
Oh my goodness that is scary! Saying a prayer for it to stay far away from you and for God to protect all those homes!
That's frightening!
Wow, that was too close! I'm glad it didn't do any damage at your place.
