I went to see Poltergeist but only because Amber wanted to see it. I was going to put it on our DVD list on Netflix but I wasn't going to see it at the show. Actually I thought it was a pretty good remake and I'm glad I saw it!
"A family whose suburban home is haunted by evil forces must come together to rescue their youngest daughter after the apparitions take her captive."
I went to see Aloha and I have to say that I enjoyed it a lot. It could have had more story to it but I really like all the actors and always enjoy seeing them in movies.
"A celebrated military contractor returns to the site of his greatest career triumphs and reconnects with a long-ago love while unexpectedly falling for the hard-charging Air Force watch-dog assigned to him."
I didn't know much about Every Secret Thing but it was a great story. This is a murder drama and again I really liked the actors that were in it. I think it was worth seeing.
"A detective looks to unravel a mystery surrounding missing children and the prime suspects: two young women who, seven years ago, were put away for an infant's death."
Mark wanted to see San Andreas so of course I went along for the ride. I felt this movie was a little cheesy but what disaster movie isn't ! It was entertaining but also very predictable. However living in California it does put a fear in you for what could come. I think it is worth watching.
"In the aftermath of a massive earthquake in California, a rescue-chopper pilot makes a dangerous journey across the state in order to rescue his daughter."
Amber went to see SPY with me. This movie was entertaining and funny. We are fans of Melissa McCarthy's humor so if you like her you will enjoy this one! Of course it is silly and a little over the top but we were okay with that, it is what we expected with a Melissa McCarthy movie.
"A desk-bound CIA analyst volunteers to go undercover to infiltrate the world of a deadly arms dealer, and prevent diabolical global disaster."
On Friday I went to see Love & Mercy, the Brian Wilson story from The Beach Boys. I thought this movie was very good. I didn't know Brian's story, I only know their songs. John Cusach and Paul Dano did an amazing job portraying him older and younger. This is a drama and the story is a heavy one but Brian Wilson is definitely a music genius!
"In the 1960s, Beach Boys leader Brian Wilson struggles with emerging psychosis as he attempts to craft his avant-garde pop masterpiece. In the 1980s, he is a broken, confused man under the 24-hour watch of shady therapist Dr. Eugene Landy."
Hope everyone has a wonderful week......

i did not know they did a remake of Poltergeist, since we fast forward through all commercials i miss most ads for movies. i would like to see San Andrea and the detective story.
We actually went to the movies here yesterday, LOL, and saw Aloha, which I was surprised hubby picked it out, we usually see action films. I did like it too :) Our second choice was San Andreas but he figured he could always rent it down the line through Red Box. Thanks for saying about Love and Mercy; that was another on our list to consider.
betty
Always love Movie Mondays Debby.
This was funny: "but what disaster movie isn't".
I grew up on the Beach Boys so I am wanting to catch that movie but may not get to it soon.
of this bunch, i'm most interested in every secret thing. i'll probably see the cheesy spy and san andreas some time, too (on hbo).
I was wondering how Poltergeist was! I saw the original and really do not like when they remake the classics. With the new cinematography I want to see it. It could be the scariest thing out there! Of course I hate scary movies, but would watch it at home where it is "safe". LOL!
Spy would be my choice. I think that sounds like a silly but fun film for a few hours (well 1 1/2 anyway) of forgetting about work and such!
I really enjoy your movie reviews. Now after reading this I want to see Aloha and maybe one or 2 of the others.
You know my feeling on remakes ... lol I know I'm crazy
I've been wanting to see Aloha :). One Rick and me may agree on .. lol. San Andreas is on Rick's watch list :)
Polterguist would freak me out! You are brave.
Thx for the movie reviews. As hot as it is, movies are a good hobby!
Poltergeist - I would never ever see!!!!!!! lol Would like to see San Andreas and Love and Mercy. They sounded good to me.
I plan on going to see San Andrea. I haven't been to a movie theater in years and years. I always wait and watch them at home. Now I have not watches Poltergeist and don't plan on it.
I love Melissa McCarthy and really want to see Spy! I normally wouldn't be drawn to Love & Mercy, but I've heard such good things about it that I want to go see it, too.
Spy is on my "to see" list. The bridge between here and the big city was flooded when it came out so I am hoping now that it is back open I can get over and see it. I miss so many, but I'll buy it later if I have to.
Aloha is way more my speed! Can't wait to see it!
