Volume 229
Thank you Joyce!
1. Is your home air conditioned? If it's not air conditioned, is that by choice? Did you grow up with air conditioning? If not how did you cope with the heat? Share about a time or place you remember as being too hot-the temperature kind of hot, lest anyone be confused.
Yes our home is air conditioned. I didn't grow up with it right away but I probably had it before I was a teen. Just like most things, when you don't know different it's just what it is!
2. What's something in your life right now that falls under the heading 'up in the air'?
Vacations! We are supposed to visit Adam & Tristen in Pittsburgh but plans are not set yet. Also when we decided not to go to Mammoth Lakes this summer we planned on doing a beach trip to Cambria and Carmel. Those plans are still up in the air and let me tell you I am very upset by it!
3. Your favorite light and airy dessert?
3. Your favorite light and airy dessert?
That would be fresh whipped cream with Fage yogurt, jello cheesecake mix and berries. You can find the recipe here.
4. When did you last feel like you were 'floating on air'?
4. When did you last feel like you were 'floating on air'?
I'm going to say when I was swimming in Florida. It had been two years since I went swimming and it felt amazing. I started swimming for exercise two years ago but then I had Acute Pericarditis and couldn't do anything for awhile and have had other issues with my lungs. Swimming or walking in the pool made me feel like I was floating on air!
5. Airport, airmail, airtight, airhead...which have you most recently encountered? Explain.
5. Airport, airmail, airtight, airhead...which have you most recently encountered? Explain.
I guess I would say airport since I just traveled two weeks ago by airplane. Also on both of my trips to and from Florida I had long layovers. One in Denver for 5 hours and one in Houston for 4 hours. Truthfully I loved the layovers!
6. Have you ever been to the Alps? If so where did you go? If not, is this a destination on your must-see list? If you were headed that direction this summer, which of the following would be your preferred activity...a gentle walk, a serious walk, a bike ride, a boat ride around one of the lakes, or summer snow skiing?

I have seen the Alps in France and we drove through them going to Italy. Have not actually been on top of them. I would say a gentle walk.

Tough toenails, rat fink, church key, bummer, dork and greaser to name a few!

first things first, i would eat cardboard if it had whipped cream on it. LOL.
we have to deal with an airhead front desk person at the YMCA every Friday.
your floating on air made me think of mine. we bought this house Oct of 89, and it has a really big and really deep pool. i did not know how to swim because i have been terrified of water m whole life. bob insisted i learned to swim or at least maneuver enough to save myself if i fell in when he was not out there. it took a couple of weeks of staying in the part where i could touch bottom. then i would go in the deep part but refused to move out far enough that i could not grab the side if i needed to.
about a month later i went out into the 9 foot water, middle of the pool and treaded water there. i looked up to heaven and said Mama, can you see me? I am over my head in WATER... that was and is like floating on air
Oh Carmel!! A magical beautiful place for sure.
My high school didn't have air conditioning in east Texas. It sucked but it wasn't as hot then like it gets now. When we first moved to California, our apartment didn't have air and neither did our car. This was in the 70's. We bought a window unit for the apartment- I clearly remember that.
I've been in too many airports with my job!
So glad you had a great vacation with your dad in Florida and you got some swimming time in.
Have a great day sweet lady!!
I hope the vacation plans come together, Debby. So pretty in Cambria and Carmel and I know you would like to see where Adam and Tristen are now and get to know their area. We finally have air conditioning again after four (long) years; such a relief!
betty
Funny sayings! Tough toenails?! I would really like to visit Carmel. Are the Mammoth Lakes in California or Kentucky? For some reason, Mammoth Cave in Kentucky comes to mind.
I remember using tough toenails too! lol
Isn't Prince George a cutie! Look at all those teeth!! That dessert looks good. Fage plain 0% is all I buy now. It's the best, thickest, yummy!
Ha I have not heard tough toenails in forever!
On a trip to Italy, I thought of routing us to Iceland so I can check it out. The layover wasn't long enough so sadly we nixed that. I usually just want to get there, enjoy myself and get home. LOL I still use bummer! At least it is universal!
gosh, i'd be hard-pressed to remember a phrase that was popular when i grew up. :)
LOL love the sayings!
I so wish I had AC yet another hot summer here, my little fans can only do so much.
I think back to when I was a child - no air conditioning - just an attic whole house fan - now I think I would die without it! lol
The ingredients to your light and airy dessert sound delicious. Thanks for sharing a link to the recipe.
My mom and I were talking about Prince George and if he will have meltdowns in the palace. 😂 I'm sure that happens, what two year old is perfect? Anyway I haven't been swimming in a long time either. I miss not having our own pool for a quick dip. Now you gotta pay to use the local ones. Sometimes I go use my sisters pool but it's dirty most of the time.
good answers.
I haven't been in a pool in ages, but I used to love it.
I hope you get your vacation plans worked out.
Wow, has it really been 2 years since Prince George was born?!
I haven't been in a pool in decades! But I always loved them when I did go. Prince George looks like such a happy kid, doesn't he? Hope you get your vacation plans together soon. I'm supposed to go see DD2 in Nashville before school starts and we haven't figured that out yet. I have no car (it's been 14 months now) so I am relying on DD4 to figure out when she can go and we can drive her car. And I'm running out of summer!
Would love to visit the Alps one day...Chris has been and he said they are breathtaking! I love going swimming,too...in face, I'm way overdue!
Prince George looks like quite the charmer :) Greasers was a popular term along with Socs in seventh grade since we had to read The Outsiders. It is one of my favorites. Have a great rest of the week.
I really enjoyed this post. So happy you were able to travel to FL. Sounds like the swimming, flights and everything went perfectly. Thanks, too, for sharing the yummy sounding recipe. Hope you have a nice weekend.
I'm going to try that recipe you suggested! It sounds so perfect for summer. I love that you drove through the Italian Alps. You've been so lucky with all your traveling!
Thanks for the birthday greetings for my mom, Debby. I hope your dad continues to do well too. He looked really good when i met him....Christine
I forgot about rat fink. That was one of my favorites.
You are hilarious. Love the question and answer posts.
Hi Debby, I always enjoy your answers. When I was coming up, we didn't have air conditioning either, but I don't think I could survive without it nowadays. I loved your random picture, too. Prince George is so adorable. Have a wonderful weekend... :)
I lived for a year in the Swiss Alps and just love them. Skiing or hiking or just having a picnic.
Hi Debby,
After seeing #1, I had to answer it.
Before my teen years, we used open windows in the summer and heat from the oven in the winter. When we moved to a house my dad built we had central heat and air. I remember asking, what is central heat and air.
This summer has been exceptionally hot since our a/c keeps freezing up.
I kind of like rat fink. It has a certain ring to it.
