Volume 232
Head over to Joyce's and join in!
1. Way back when (the Hodgepodge bicentennial to be precise) several of you submitted questions as part of a giveaway I was hosting. I went back to that list for inspiration today and found a question submitted by Marla, who blogs over atMarla's Musings. Thanks Marla!
She asks-At what age did you feel like a 'grown-up'? What keeps you young now?
I'm not really sure but I am going to say when I went through my divorce around 33 years ago. Trying to keep up with current events (but not news because it saddens me) and lots of face cream!
2. When did you last buy a vehicle? Was this by design or because you had no other option? Was the car/truck purchased for your own personal use or was it bought for someone else to drive? On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being delightful and 1 being 'pass the Excedrin') how would you rate the experience
The last time we bought a car for me was 7 years ago. I have never owned a car this long. It was by design so it was built for me. That would be my Mini Cooper S which is my second Cooper. First one was also built for me and took 3 months back then. I had my first one for 5 years. I have to say that Mini has been awesome to work with. No complaints from me!
Mark got a new MDX last year. He likes to buy from Acura because they usually have 3 different selections with different options which makes the choices easier. He has liked dealing with them also.
Of course you must go in prepared and know all the numbers and not be afraid to leave. Mark did that with Adam's first new car and they came running after them as they were driving away. Believe they can always go lower or add something on.
3. Corn bread, corn chips, corn pudding, corn on the cob, cornflakes, corn chowder-your favorite of the corn-y foods listed? What needs to be served alongside your selection?
I'm going with corn on the cob although I like to cut it off because it's easier to eat that way. It would probably go with BBQ or hamburgers/hot dogs. Second would be corn bread and that would be served with chili.
4. What's something in your life that regularly requires you to 'put your thinking cap on'?
I think I lost my thinking cap!

5. Share a favorite movie set in a school or classroom, or whose theme relates to school days in some way.
That's easy, The Breakfast Club hands down! Ferris Bueller's Day Off comes in second. You can't beat a John Hughes movie.

6. Reading, writing, and 'rithmatic' are commonly referred to as the three R's. What are the three R's in your life right now?
Relationships, reevaluate, rationalize......but what I want is to be relaxing!!!
7. What's something you've learned or tried recently you can say was as 'easy as ABC'?
Nothing specific comes to mind that I can think of but I am hoping when my new printer arrives that it will be as 'easy as ABC!'
8. Insert your own random thought here.
FYI: My lungs are better and so are my spirits. We had a great time with Adam & Tristen and hoping to get a chance to see them again before they return home next Tuesday. Nothing like spending quality time with your loved ones to raise your happiness levels........

food is first in my life... Corn bread, corn on cob, cornflakes in that order. the others i would eat but rarely do..
in my 71 years and Bobs 78 years we have only owned one new car. in 2004 we bought a GMC pickup truck new for me to drive. i love trucks. we still have it and it has less than 50,000 miles on it. the last car we bought was my new to me a year ago 2007 Kia, we bought because we had to. my beloved Saturn Vue lost its transmission.
I felt like a grown up when I got married the first time in 1963 because i was finally out from under my daddy's thumb.
Love your answer to #4 ... I feel like that a lot! ;-)
I am glad your lungs are better. I've never heard of The Breakfast Club. Hmmm. I'll have to check into that. :-)
I love The Breakfast Club!
Minis are so cute. I always stare at them on the road. I love The Breakfast Club too. Glad your lungs are better and hope you get to see Adam and Tristen again before they go back.
That you "lost your thinking cap" is hilarious! I also love Ferris Bueler -- and Wayne Newton! Thanks for the reminder. Have a great week!
I like your answers. praising God that your lungs are better.
Glad you are feeling a bit better Debby, and that you enjoyed your time with Adam and Tristen! I do agree with car sales; be prepared to walk; there is always a better deal out there if that company won't work with you.
betty
Actually sometimes I think I have lost my thinking cap too! I am going to have to watch the Breakfast Club. It has been mentioned several times in answers. Have a great week!
First, I'm glad you are feeling better and also got to spend time with Adam and Tristen.
I think having a kid made me feel pretty grown up. (I was 31)
I love that scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Such a fun movie. The Breakfast Club was really good too.
Glad you are feeling better.
So happy to hear you are feeling better. I go for corn on the cob too.
I'm so glad to hear that you are feeling better! You are right, visits with loved ones are great medicine :)
I'd forgotten about Ferris Bueller's Day off! That was a great movie, too!!!

I'm glad you're feeling good Debby! I just watched Breakfast Club again the other day. I love the movie, and the REM song at the end is perfect. Hoping you get more time with your kids while they're nearby!
yup, two good movies, there. :) cornflakes are in my pantry. and i added corn chips (fritos) to my shopping list. :)
Glad you're feeling some better and enjoyed your guests. I don't watch the news either. Honey Bear reads the news online and sometimes relates something of interest to me.

Hi Debby, It is always so fun to read your answers! So glad your lungs have cleared up; may you continue to walk in health.
Sending hugs your way.
Noreen
I've never seen the Breakfast Club. Very glad to hear your lungs are clearing up. That's no fun. Good luck with the printer.
I forgot about Ferris Bueller - loved that one. And I am glad that you are feeling better Debby!
LOL...I don't think I ever grew up.
I like your answer to #3.
YAY for you feeling better in health and in spirits!!! That makes me happy. I am total agreement with you with the 2 songs. They are both fantastic! I love corn on the cob and cornbread and corn chips.
Hope your day is great!
So glad you are feeling better, Debby. You are right; spending time with loved ones can do that to you. I wasn't familiar with any of the movies you mentioned but did enjoy the trailers. Enjoy your weekend.
Sorry I am so late - I have had computer problems must of the week. I cut my corn off the cob too! And I liked the Breakfast Club as well. So glad you are feeling better!
I'm so glad to hear that your lungs are better and I always enjoy your answers. I loved both of the movies you chose in your answer to number 5. Corn chips is one of my favorite snack foods. I actually think I have an addiction to them, but I only eat cornflakes if I have bananas around since it tastes so blah by itself.
Have a wonderful weekend... :)
Ya for number 4....me too!
The Breakfast Club, Grease (1 and 2) and 10 Things I Hate About You. Those would be my three (four) favourite school movies.
Glad that you are feeling better Debby...I've lost my thinking cap too! LOL
Breakfast Club is one of my all-time favorites.
Having a down day today so I'm catching up on blogs.
xo- see you thursday!
About five years ago we bought a van, out of necessity.
OMG I so love the Breakfast Club!! And Ferris Bueller!
You just made my day!
