Volume 233
Thank you Joyce....
Sorry but my answers are not very joyous this week.
1. It's hard to believe, but next week's Hodgepodge will find us in the month of September. What's one thing you want, need, or hope to do still before summer officially ends?
The beach trip! Sadly it won't be happening anytime soon.

2. When were you last at 'your wit's end'?
Five minutes ago with our daughter!
3. Describe a time you were figuratively thrown into 'the deep end'?
Five minutes ago with our daughter!
4. Does the end always, ever, or never justify the means? Explain.

I believe that the end often justifies the means but I don't have an example to give at this time. (funny that you ask because it could be exactly what I was dealing with 5 minutes ago, so when I know I will explain)
5. What makes your hair stand on end?
This really shouldn't make my hair stand on end but I am so sick of people not caring about our world and just throwing things in the trash that can be recycled. I'm not talking about here at home, I've got them pretty well trained....LOL!
6. I read an article on the website Eat This! Health, that listed 11 foods we can eat to help end bad moods. Basically it's a feed your brain so you're less anxious, grouchy and lethargic.
The foods are-mussels, swiss chard, blue potatoes, grass fed beef, dark chocolate, Greek yogurt, asparagus, honey, cherry tomatoes, eggs, and coconut. Which of those do you think would most help end your own bad mood? Which do you fear, if forced to eat, would put you into a bad mood?

Well I do like/eat almost all of those items listed and I'm seldom in a good mood these days so I'm not sure about their results. Since I haven't had mussels, swiss chard or blue potatoes maybe it is time I give them a try!
7. What project around your home, office, or life in general feels like there is 'no endin sight'?
That would be cleaning out closets, cabinets and drawers. There is no end in sight because I'm not working on it at all.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
We did get to see Adam and Tristen over the weekend. Actually they ended up spending the night here on Saturday. It turned out that they needed to leave a car here which they will sell next month when Adam is in town. They are finally putting their condo up for rent with a management service.
So they spent the night and then we all headed back to L.A. in the morning. We had plans to go out for brunch with them at Skylight Gardens in Westwood and it was delicious.
Tristen took a few pictures so she isn't in them :(
I meant to take a few but never did.

Looked like fun times with Adam and Tristen when they were visiting :) Good that they can rent out their condo; hard to imagine its been 8 months and more since they moved!! Sorry the beach trip isn't going to be a reality this year; I know you would have enjoyed it so much!
betty
So glad you got to have some special time with Adam and Tristen...I know you cherish it. I completely understand how daughters can be difficult to deal with, at times...thankfully, my situation continues to improve daily. Thank you, sweet Lord.
I agree with you on the recycling! I hate when there is a recycling bin right next to the trash in a casual eatery and you watch someone just empty their tray into the garbage when the recycling bin is right there for soda cans and plastic. I always wonder if that’s lazy or just stupid.
No beef for me and I prefer milk chocolate, but I like the other things in the food list. I’m prone to very high and very low mood swings, but that’s an MS thing; I’m a generally happy person. My dad makes Swiss chard in the “Italian Soul Food” meal I love so much and that makes me especially happy. So, from my point of view, I’d encourage trying the Swiss chard!
I hope things get straightened out with your daughter. Then I hope you get some beach time. {{hugs}}
Sorry you are going through a tough time with your daughter. Remember "This too shall pass." Glad you got to spend time with Adam and Tristen, I am sure that was a nice break! Hope this is a better week for you!
I hope things will calm down with you and your daughter. I know that sometimes relationships between moms and daughters can be rather rocky.
Take care.
I had to chuckle at your mood answer. When we are dealing with daughters our mood can definitely be challenged. So, let me know if any of those foods work for you. You have a very handsome son by the way and am so glad to see your pretty face.
Can so relate to dealing with daughters-I think we all can at some point in our lives. Glad for your time with Adam and Tristen.
That's why I like the idea of selfie sticks - so everyone can get in a pic :)
So sorry for the issues with your daughter. Those things can be so unpleasant. The pictures looked like a nice time. Sorry about the beach. Maybe still a possibility?
i don't believe food has that much to do with our mood, i think it is our mind that creates our mood, but i must say the word Chocolate makes me happy but also sad because if i eat it i get even fatter... glad you got to meet up with Adam and Tristan
So sorry things are rough with your daughter Debby. I will add you both to my prayers this week. So glad you had time with your son and his gal too. That always does the heart good. Take care.
enjoyed this hodgepodge.
Hi Debby, So sorry your dealing with frustrations with your daughter! I loved your cartoon because it sounded just like my hubby-he'd always rather be on a beach.
I loved all the food you listed, but would always turn to chocolate.
Hope the end of the week is better for you.
Sending hugs,
Noreen
I hope your 'daughter situation' and mood improve soon :)
So glad you had some Adam and Tristen time!!!
Kathy (from Reflections by Kathy)
