Volume 240
Thank you Joyce.
1. October 21, 2015 is Back to the Future Day. Did you see the movie? The sequels? In the second film, Doc takes Marty into the future to prevent Marty's future son from making a mistake. They leave 1985 and land on a 'skyway' on October 21st, 2015. So tell us, what were you doing in the fall of 1985?
I would have been working full time at a Corporate office for Hormel in Oak Brook, IL and I was a single parent.
I did see all the Back to the Future movie's. I am sure everyone has heard about this with the Cubs in the playoffs but in case you didn't Marty held up a paper in the second movie saying that the Cubs win in 2015!
Maybe the past so I could make sure everyone who is now gone knows how much I loved them.
3. We're not flying cars, but some of the technology imagined in the 80's film has indeed come to pass in real life 2015-flat screen TVs on the wall, tablets, fingerprint recognition, video conferencing, online banking, 3-D movies, motion controlled video games, drone cameras, and smart glasses (Google glass). Do you worry technology is growing at a rate so fast we'll soon be unable to keep up with it's demands? Do you think the Internet does more harm than good?

Well I would like to see it slow down a little bit. I do worry about keeping up although I have always been good with technology. I think the Internet is good for many reason but for those who go down the wrong path in life I think it does more harm.
4. Your favorite dish prepared in a slow-cooker? Your favorite fast food?
4. Your favorite dish prepared in a slow-cooker? Your favorite fast food?
I'm going to say a Black Bean Chili that I make. In fact I will be making it in a few days! We do not buy fast food very often. I'm not sure about a favorite.
There is a breakfast crescent from Jack in the Box that I like. My husband would say Five Guys which I get lettuce wrapped. If we want to be really, really bad than it would be KFC which might happen twice a year.
5. No time like the present, down time, face time, pressed for time, in the nick of time, make time, mark time, or just in time...which timely saying most relates to your life right now?

I'm going to say face time, we have Adam visiting for 4 nights starting on Saturday!
6. Tell us about a place you went as a child or younger person that's no longer there or is now something else. How does that make you feel?

I'm going to say Riverview Park in Chicago since it was the first thing that came to mind. I do however remember a frozen custard stand that we hung out at in H.S. which was knocked down later for a Jack in the Box. Then when Jack didn't make it in Illinois that was knocked down to build a bank.
I'm not bothered by it but I do know that if a home I had lived in was gone that would really bother me a lot!
7. Describe your comfort zone.
Hands down....going to the show! I also think a favorite comfort zone for me is in the Fall watching my favorite TV shows in the evening. I feel at peace and my mind usually shuts down which is awesome.

If you read my post "Murphy's Law" from Friday October 9th it was about us having issues with our water heater before we left on our trip. Well the pilot went out a few more times (but we were able to light it manually) so we decided to have Sears out on Saturday. Man from Home Depot wasn't much help and very expensive.
The man from Sears knew exactly what was wrong and said they replace the pilot ignition all the time. So it cost around $300 and it is now fixed. We have also been talking about getting a whole house warranty because after about nine years in a new home that is about the time to buy one.
If we signed up while he was here it was half price for the first year and we now have ten items covered. They also come out each year and do a free cleanings on the items that would need it. We bought a warranty at our last home and it was definitely worth it!

That is so wild about the Cubs! Like you, I would want to go back and make more memories with those who are no longer with us. Or maybe to at least meet my Grandfathers or Little Grandma (my great grandma who only spoke German)Have an amazing week!
I love when warranty's make life easier. Glad it was a simple fix & you didn't have to guy a new water heater.
I need that black bean chili recipe!!!
Good idea about the warranty!
I also love watching TV in the fall evenings. There are so many good ones and it's relaxing.
I know you're thrilled about Adam's upcoming visit. I know I would be :)
Do you plan to make black bean chili for him?
I'd never heard of a 'whole house warranty' before, but that's a good idea. I depend on Ed to fix whatever tears up around here, and, usually he can.
I had forgotten that part of the movie about the Cubs.
It would be pretty exciting to see a Cubs victory. I think a lot of people are rooting for them who aren't normally fans. Fall gives me a sense of peace and comfort too. Definitely my favorite season. Enjoy spending time with your son!
like your answer to number 2
I will have to watch back to the future tonight. No clue what I was doing fall of 1985 but I would have been ten. Your chili sounds good.
I never watched Back to the Future ... so now some of the 'stuff' I'm seeing on Facebook makes sense!
Loved your answer to #2.
I would like to see a lot of things slow down a bit. Nice that Adam will be home for a while! I know you'll love every minute!
That was a great idea to get a home warranty, Debby! It seems if one appliance goes, they all start to, so wise to do that to save a bit of money! I just can't believe it has been 30 years since the Back to the Future movies! Where did the time go?
betty
Both being from Chicago we have talked about Riverview before - that was a lot of fun.
And I went to Target today and bought the trilogy of Back TO Te Future - I have seen all three but my grandson hasn't seen any - tonight we will watch the first one!
I would like to see things slow down a little, also. Enjoy your time with Adam!
I didn't remember that about the Cubs. Pretty cool. I think black bean chili sounds like something I would really like. Love black beans. We have had a home warranty for all 12 years here. So far, it has paid off for repairs, but no big replacements yet.
When I read Back to the Future day. I know I heard that said somewhere, that is all I remember about it. That's how out of touch I am, don't know what going on in the world around me. That's one of the things I like about reading your blog you can keep me informed. Good to hear from you take care.
Enjoyed your answers. I think I need to watch the movie and see what else was predicted that has come to pass. So I'll be either on Netflix or Amazon Prime for a few hours if anyone needs me, except I'll be available for Honey Bear, anytime.
Mama Bear
i would like to go back 10 years and make some changes from that point on.
I can't remember what I was doing in '85 other than raising 3 kids at the time. I do remember Back to the Future and it was fun to see all the hype surrounding that movie that occurred yesterday.
It has been fun to see the changes in that time.
Movies...I agree they are a relaxer for me as well.
I had no idea you could get a warranty thing on your applicances and home stuff. That is a great idea. Hopefully not too costly.
HOpe you have a great weekend.
Hello,
My husband thought the same about the Cubs and Back to the Future.
I always enjoy reading your answers, and I like how you answered #7. I usually feel nice and relaxed while watching a movie too. :-))
Have a great weekend!
Carla
I like the Sears warranty services.
