Volume 252
Thank you Joyce.
1. Speaking of skating...when did you last 'skate on thin ice', 'skate over the details', 'encounter a cheapskate', or just plain skate?
I have been 'skating over the details' on something close to my heart. (more later)
Actually I had a story to share before Christmas and never got around to it. This would be 'encountered a cheapskate.'
There was a charity pick up one day and we had about 10 bags of things to give away. I was going to run errands that day and when I opened the garage I saw two woman in a brand new SUV taking the bags from a neighbors house.
I put our bags back in our garage, no way was I going to let them take our bags for charity for themselves!!! I was very angry and saddened by their behavior.
2. What would you say is the biggest problem of people your age?
Retirement. How it is all going to work financially. Medicare scares me too and I don't like change!!!
3. What's your favorite accessory? Is it something you wear every day, often, or only on special occasions?
When I think of accessories I often think of a purse. I love purses and just changed bags yesterday.
4. January 20th is National Cheese Lover's Day. Are you a lover of cheese? What's your favorite dish made with cheese? Last thing you ate that contained some kind of cheese?
Yes I love cheese. How do I choose one? Of course I love cheesecake, that you know. We always have cheese in the house, many varieties and types.
The last thing I ate with cheese, which sadly was not low carb, was a baked potato with butter, cheese and sour cream! The day before was some Rotel queso with veggies during a football game.
5. What's something guaranteed to make you roll your eyes?
Probably some comment out of Mark's mouth.
6. Your favorite book series?
I don't have one. If I had read a series I guess it would have been the Twilight series or The Hunger Games. Loved the movies!
7. Why did you choose your profession?
Well back when I was growing up all I knew was getting married and having children. I know that sounds crazy but I didn't have any examples of anything else or anyone who encouraged me otherwise.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
This handsome dude is 37 years old today!
I love you Adam.

happy birthday to your son. :) and i love cheese - simple wisconsin cheddar or colby, please!
Hope your son has a wonderful birthday.
Happy birthday Adam!! Wishing you the best in this new year of life!
I haven't met a cheese I didn't like, LOL (same with pasta and bread). That potato sounded delicious!
That was terrible about the ladies picking up the donations meant for something else. When we lived in Murrieta, the same thing would happen but I would notice it was mainly Hispanics that did it (I'm not being prejudiced, just noticing a theme; I would see a lot of it going on when I was walking Koda). People would also go through the recycle bins to pick out bottles and cans to recycle so we never put our trash out until the morning of trash day to discourage some of that.
I agree about retirement. You do wonder financially if you are going to be able to handle it. My brother in law and sister in law who are of that age filed for Social Security benefits and Medicare. I said good for them, might as well get some benefits before it might run out.

Hi! Stopping over from the link up! That is so sad that someone would take the donation bags that may not need them :-( A big Happy Birthday to your son! Have a wonderful day!
Blessings,
Jill
Happy birthday to your son!
I can't believe people were taking other peoples goodwill stuff, what has the world come to? ;/
Keeping your situation in my prayers Debby. Happy birthday to your son : ) That donation story is crazy! Some people have a whole lot of nerve!
happy birthday to Adam. i have a favorite series. Jack Reacher, i have read all of them and some twice.. could the suv have been someone picking up things for the charity? if not shame on them if they knew it was for a charity. I love retirement and we have had no problems with medicare. so strike that off your list.. I dont have a profession but started working when i was 15 and worked until i was 62.. if i had it to do i would choose a profession. i was the marriage and baby generation but we were so poor i had to work to eat. i went from dirt poor parents to dirt poor hubby
Happy birthday to him! I had a really good cheese recently... White cheddar cranberry. I put it on triscuits.
I didn't even think about purse for an accessory answer! I love pretty purses, and have been a fan of Vera Bradley forever.
Happy birthday to your Adam. He's the same age as my daughter.
Kathy (from Reflections by Kathy)
Happy birthday Adam! I agree you have to skip over some things some times. I have skated over thin ice myself many times. I love cheese my favorite is Havarti - who doesn't like cheese? So when do you retire Debby and take Medicare? I have a couple years myself. The unknown is always scary.
Happy birthday to Adam!
It's hard, sometimes, not to be cynical about charitable giving. A few seasons ago our workplace mounted a big toy drive to support the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program.
Several of our managers were stunned and saddened that -- on the day parents were to drive through, to receive their children's gifts -- they witnessed the majority of vehicles were luxury sedans and late model SUV's in line to get their 'free' stuff.
I probably shouldn't have called out (that charity) by name, but I'm still beyond disgusted they didn't filter their recipients' needs a little better.
Happy birthday to that handsome boy of yours! I hope he's had a wonderful day!!!
Shame on those women...they remind me of a former next-door-neighbor; that's something she would do. (tsk, tsk!)
Happy Birthday to your son. :-))
Goodness about the cheapskates. Not good at all!
Sending a HUG,
Carla
Hmm, charity scams are bad! I like knowing the stuff I donate is going to be used by those in need. Happy Birthday to your son :)
Belated birthday wishes to Adam-he's very handsome! Loved reading your answers~we just had grilled cheese for lunch today.
Have a great afternoon and evening!
Hugs, Noreen
I am in New Mexico so of course cheese enchiladas are a favorite. I am a purse lover and have way too many. We are blessed to be pretty set with retirement. I am counting the days until I retire from the middle school. Savoring everyone and praying I am doing the right thing leaving behind students and staff that I love. For me, it takes all my courage to move on to the next stage of life.
People make me so angry sometimes. I hope the people who needed the clothes etc got them instead.
