Well today is the big day. My dad is 96 years old today. What an amazing life he has had. People from his generation have seen so many changes throughout the years. I love listening to his stories about listening to the radio, getting coal for heat and even fetching beers for my grandparents at the local tavern.
With my mom back when they were first engaged.
My mom, dad, brother, sister and I'm the peanut!
(That's always been my dads nickname for me)
Dorothy, Ray, Raymond, Darcy and Debby
With Adam and Amber back at his cottage in Illinois.
We celebrated my great niece Amber's birthday along with my dads birthday on Saturday. It was a nice party with my Florida family. We were missing my one niece Amanda who graduated college and is now employed with John Deere in Georgia. We will be taking dad out tonight for a nice dinner.
I bought him a tray for his walker that comes on and off easily for when he leaves the house. He is always doing a one handed walker carrying something in his other hand to the table. This is so much safer for him.
This is one of my favorites. You would have seen it yesterday in my post. His birthday was and still is the day after our wedding.......

Happy 96th birthday to your dad. he looks fantastic! i am so glad he has been able to live alone these past few years. i enjoyed all the family photos and you do look like a little peanut in that photo...
I can not love this enough!! What a beautiful legacy to have raised such a great family! Happy birthday to him!!!! Hugs Annster's Domain
Happy 96th birthday to your dad, Debby! He looks so good!! That was a great idea with the walker tray that you got him; safer for his ambulation I do believe! Those are great stories he shares with you. Remember if there is anything you might want to ask him about his growing up or early days with your mom, etc., be sure to ask him. I found I had so many unanswered questions after the fact that I wished I had taken the time to really get to know my mom (I knew a lot about her, but there were still some things I didn't and now no one to ask). Enjoy your celebration with him today! Where are you guys going for dinner?

Happy birthday - 96 - to your dad. He looks great!!!
I like that tray -we had one for my mom too- so much easier for them to be a little more independent.
I am so GLAD you are there with him Peanut!
Ray and Raymond and three D's.

Happy Birthday blessings to your daddy! Yours is a great gift idea. Can't wait to hear where you're going for dinner!
wow, what a milestone!!
Happy 96 years Young....
I can only imagine all the wonderful stories he tells.
I hope some of them are written down with dates and names.
I'm sorry I didn't do that more with my own folks.
The memory gets blurry sometimes and future generations need to know the personal side of history.

This is so special. What a handsome man he has always been. I'm so glad you are able to be there to make this an even more special day for him.
Happy Birthday to your sweet dad!! I've never seen a walker tray before, and I worked in a nursing home for years! That is great!
I'm late but Happy Birthday to your dad. I hope he had a wonderful day. The tray for the walker is a great idea.
