Mark and I ventured out a few weeks ago to visit Joshua Tree National Park. We had a nice day and here are some photos of what we saw. This park does have Joshua Trees, cactus, wildlife and rock formations. They do a lot of rock climbing at this park.
"Over time, the bottom layers were compressed and fused into sedimentary rock. Then, around one billion years ago, Earth's continents collided to form a single supercontinent called Rodinia. ... The gneiss that formed in the Rodinian mountains is the oldest rock found in Joshua Tree National Park."

Skull Rock
It's obvious I loved the cactus. This is why we went because it was the time of year for them to be in bloom!

What a fascinating place. Beautiful cactus, I can see why you wanted to go.
It looks like a beautiful place. The flowers on that cactus are quite unassuming. I would have expected bright yellow or pink, but these are quite pale.
I do love cactus, at one of our gardens here they have a cactus garden, but no Joshua trees. i would love to see this place, love those trees and that does look like a giant skull... so much beauty. i would snap myself silly and have to change out my SD card to hold the photos
It is gorgeous there! Are there trails to hike on? A visitor center? We've never been, LOL, but now I want to go! I like those blooming cactus too!
betty
How cool that was - I have heard of it - how far is it from you? Love the cactus too!
Those rock formations are amazing! … Actually, all your photos. I'd never heard of this park!
Beautiful cactus, I love them. I have some prickly pear my aunt gave me. I set them outside during the summer and bring them in the winter. ;-)
Wow Debby! what a fascinating place and wonderful photos. Joshua Tree National Park is so different from here in upstate NY. I enjoyed my visit here. Have a blessed weekend.
Wow, wow! What wonderful photos. I have never heard of the Joshua Tree National Park, nor have I heard of Joshua trees. All your pics are terrific and thanks for sharing. Now I have to look this up.
I enjoyed your pictures!
Beautiful, in a very stark way. I'd like to visit that park at some point.
