Happy Fourth of July and welcome once again to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4!
Let's talk about Independence Day.....
1. In previous times every family read the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights on July 4 to keep in mind the huge price paid by a minority of patriots for freedom and liberty. What do you think about this tradition? I hope you will institute it and value it. It is so important.
I didn't know that. We will have to try that.
2. Fresh made lemonade was a huge deal in the Midwest when Laura Ingalls Wilder was a young girl. It was a very special treat. Every family brought a dish to the town celebration. What foods and drinks will you have on this important day?
We are going to have a simple celebration. Hot dogs, macaroni salad and strawberry shortcake.
3. Will you be watching fireworks.. a great American tradition on this day? They are deeply rooted in the American tradition .
We are going over to Adam & Gabby's and plan on being home for the fireworks we can see from our backyard view. We see several towns. They are not real close by but definitely fun to watch.
4. Will your flag be out? Do you own one?
I often put small flags in the ground out in front of the house. No we do not own a flag.

I had never heard about the tradition of reading the declaration of independence. Interesting.
I have never known anyone who read the constitution except for when the teacher at school forced us to. I did post the preamble on my blog. this is sure a good time to remember it. we did nothing specail, our days are the same old with just the two humans one dog
I hadn't heard of that tradition either of reading the constitution/Bill of Rights on the 4th of July but I think it is so beneficial for people to really know what is in it. Might have to incorporate that into next year's celebration (assuming I remember to do so, lol). Sounded like you had planned a great 4th of July day, Debby. I like simple menus like yours! We had turkey burgers and potato salad here. I think you have a great view of the fireworks around you. That's neat you can see several displays from your yard!

I'd not heard of that tradition, either, but applaud the idea! There's little I remember from my own school days; what a shame. Imagine our forefathers looking down and just shaking their heads.
It sounds like you had a nice 4th of July, Debby...and your plan for watching the fireworks sounds perfect! ~Andrea xoxo
I love your plans for the 4th. I hope they were grand.
Love you Debby!

I think that's a great tradition. Most of us really don't know all that's in those documents.
We actually went out for supper since we had worked in the yard all day. A new creamery just opened up close to us. We did the traditional hamburgers and root beer floats...perfect!
Our neighborhood had several family get togethers so there were things popping right and left.
Our flag always flies unless its raining. It was nice to see so many out in our neighborhood.

I Debby, I do miss the view we had of fireworks. We are close to Santana Park and see some of the fireworks. But some people just go crazy with the illegal ones. We were more concerned with how it was scaring our dog. Enjoy your week!
We watch fireworks from our dock and it's a lot of fun. I like that we can be at home : )
You must have a panoramic view from your back yard. We once lived in a house like that and we could see the fireworks all the way around. It was fun. We actually drove into our little town last night and watch some from our car for a while. It was nice, but oh so hot last night, we had to leave the AC on and the windows up. Then we came home and went to bed. It was surprisingly quiet. Or I was so tired I just didn't even notice. LOL. Have a blessed week.
I'm glad you had a great day. ❤️
