2. In what way(s) have you changed in the last five years?
I've changed in many ways that I am not happy with. However, having James in my life has made me so very happy and it's the best change ever.
3. What's your favorite thing about the street on which you live?
Well the favorite thing about our street is that we are on a view lot. The street appears to be quiet but where we actually spend all of our time in the house is at the back of the house where the kitchen, family room and our bedroom is.
4. The Hodgepodge lands on National Beer Day...are you a beer drinker? What's a recipe you make that lists beer as one of the ingredients? If not beer, how about yeast?
I haven't had a beer in awhile but I don't mind drinking it. It can be very refreshing on a warm summer day. However, not this summer because it's been extremely hot with humidity. I believe I made a beer bread once.
5. As I grow older I would like to be a woman (or man, if there are any men in the HP today) who _is content and happy.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
We went over to Adam and Gabby's on Sunday afternoon. It was a fun day. Mark, James, Adam, Gabby, Roxy and Gracie all swam while I watched a Hallmark movie in the house. It was way to hot to be outside and not be in the pool.
We brought dinner to make. Mark picked up Tomahawk ribeye steaks which we have never had before. We also had mashed potatoes, caesar salad, and grilled shrimp.

Yes, those special grandchildren make a huge difference in our life, don't they. I could sit and enjoy your view and never get anything accomplished. It is lovely. So glad you had time with all your bunch. What a fun day.
beautiful pool picks and now I want to know why you did not get in the pool. I agree about to hot to be outside but not in the pool. this comment from me who has not been in our pool in 3 months. the food looks and sounds delish
Dinner looks delicious! James is a cutie for sure.
The food sounds yummy and I know you enjoyed the company, Debby! I too like a cold beer on a hot summer day but we haven't enjoyed any this past season. Probably good for the weight, lol :) You do have a lovely view from your backyard!
betty
Having a grandchild is the best happening for everyone . They change things for the better at least ten-fold.
We love a bone-in ribeye. I think the flavor is so much better.
Your view is spectacular!
Yummmmmmmmoooooo....those steaks!!! Looks like some delicious eatin' there, Debby. And that SweetBabyJames couldn't be cuter in that pool!! I'm glad you stayed in the house because it was so hot. No sense getting sick in the heat. ~Andrea xoxo
I love your view! :-)
That pool looks like a fun time for Grandpa and James.
xx oo

My sister lives in LA and she said that there is terrible heat - rolling blackouts - and water shortages. That pool must look awfully nice!!!
James will brighten you up and Hallmark.
That food looks so delicious!
Hugs.
I'm glad you had a great time. I would have been inside too...I used to love to swim but I'm photosensitive now and try to avoid being in the sun.
How cleve is James! I wonder if he won't grow up to become an engineer someday. Were those tomahawk steaks as good as they look? I've not had a good Caesar salad in ages.
Oops ... that should have read 'clever', not 'cleve.'
We'll be in Cali at the end of the month. I do hope the heat subsides before we travel! Yes to grandchildren changing us for the better. They definitely make us more joyful. I know you're enjoying yours!
Can't think of a birthday that stands out from the rest.
In the last 5 years, I would say I've learned to be more independent. I always was but even more so now since Wade passed away.
That steak looks absolutely delicious.
I guess the very best birthday was when I got my engagement ring. I guess it will last, coming up on 59 years in January.
I think I am more content and happy to be living where we are living.
I love our street because its so quiet and we have nice neighbors all around us. We look out for each other.
I do like a cold beer now and then and use it to make beer bread 3 or 4 times a year. Nice flavor
I would like to be even more satisfied with what I have and I want to be more kind and giving.
I need to develop a thicker skin and also get those last 10 pounds off this body of mine.

I am so happy James has changed you for the better. I wonder too why you didn't get into the pool, as it sounds wonderfully refreshing. Beer bread? I honestly never heard of that.
Fun swimming pool photos. Grandchildren are such a sweet blessing. Tomahawk ribeyes sound huge! That's a nice view from your back yard! Your menu sounded yummy! Hope your week is going well.
Hi Debby,
Your supper sounds and looks delish! That's great that you got to spend time with James. He sure is growing fast. Our guys also enjoyed building train tracks. They were also into Legos. Does James like Legos? They were expensive then, and probably more so now. I guess.
I have never acquired the taste for beer. However, I do make a mean rib dish using beer.
Good afternoon, I pray this is a great week for you, I will not be visiting too much as I have started a new focus on my blog whereby I am encouraging women daily to focus more on God through various means that hopefully will bless them while they demonstrate Jesus to others in their world! I just feel that I have been a bystander Christian and if others are, too, then Im trying to make it easy for them to live more intentionally. There will be good stuff daily and I am hoping folks will stop in. Blessings!
