HEART INTERRUPTED

I haven't talked about this much, mainly because I feel it each day and it brings me down. I guess you could say I am a little broken hearted over it. Our Skye is a loner. She is not a cuddle up in your lap dog. I am going to say "not yet" because I am hopeful. She is a very headstrong fearless dog who loves to explore the world, or her world in the backyard. On the rare occasion she will lay by me on the sofa in my office. A very rare occasion! I can get kisses anytime I want but lay in my lap and let me pet her just isn't going to happen. Some days it eats at me and I actually cry.

Skye is actually the first dog that we bought just for us. Our other wonderful dogs were raised with kids in the house. She is my dog, mine to love in our empty nest. (well it was empty, remember) Now she does visit me in my office, brings a toy to me so we can play catch or stops in to chew on a bone while I'm watching TV. The other day she laid by my feet while I was sitting at the computer, this was rare and meant the world to me. The one time when she does curl up is next to my husband for the night. I move around too much for her taste!

Do you remember when I was all concerned about my daughter moving in because Skye loves her so much? She hangs with them often but mainly because of Charlie and when they have food. Funny but when they are out Charlie hangs with me and Skye will be off in another room sleeping. I love Charlie but I desire my Skye. I do leave her alone and I'm not going to force her to hang with me. She is still young so I am hopeful. She doesn't really hang with anyone in the house, but she is full of love and entertains herself with her toys. She has the greatest imagination for playing. She is my joy even if it's from afar.

Most days when I am in my office and my husband is watching TV in the family room she will be off laying in the dining room. Most mornings after my husband leaves for work she will curl up in her bed in the family room and nap for a few hours. That's when I think to myself "why doesn't she want to curl up with me in bed or on the sofa?" So I am asking for little prayers, little prayers asking God to change my little girl into a lap dog who wants to be Velcroed to me! She is 19 months old today. She actually curled up again by my feet, the second time in one week. : ) my face!

P.S. I know that this is nothing in comparison to the horrific things that are happening in the world around me and to the people that I follow with all my heart. Please know that I just wanted to share this with you and let you know something that is on my heart. I know that I shouldn't sweat the small stuff, which this is, and I am thankful for all the wonderful things that God has given to me.

SHOW US YOUR ROOSTERS BLOG PARTY 2

COCKADOODLE DOO

I fell in love with roosters when my husband's Nana had several on display in her kitchen, that was back in the early 70's. I didn't start collecting them until the 90's and they just make me feel happy. Most of my roosters are in my kitchen. My plates, bowls, canisters, cookie jar, spoon rest, etc. have this orange/blue rooster on them.

I KNEW YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM

So in my post it notes on Tuesday I mentioned that I bought some tops at Lane Bryant at 50% off. Except for one of them they were all brand new $45/$59 tops. Three of them are hooded tops and one is a thin cardigan sweater. I am so excited. I love having new tops to wear. I almost always wear denim carpi's on the bottom. I also had bought a few of the tank tops at Old Navy at their $1.99 sale and they match perfect to wear under a few of these. (Didn't know that when I was buying them) Also got a grey pair of leggings at Old Navy for $4.00 which will also go with one of the longer tops.

I should be in good shape for bowling this year! (well not good body shape but I will look cute!) I also received a pkg. from Woman Within with some casual tops that I bought to wear around the house. They had a sale that was buy 1 get one for $1.00 so I also have 4 new tops to lounge around the house in. I am a happy camper although I prefer a cabin :)

I have started to collect colander's in different colors. I would love to hang them on a wall, but haven't' figured that out yet. The silver one belonged to my mother and my dad insisted that I take it home. I am so happy to have it in my collection.

For some reason I have a boat load of posts this week. I appreciate you stopping over each time.

Hope your week is going well.

P.S. If you out and about Home Depot is clearing out their Martha Stewart laundry detergent and it now 50%. Huge jug for $9.99 after sale and so far I am liking it.

A FEW UPDATES

I don't know if you remember this picture. I posted about it here. We had some really bad rains and the bougainvillea's in our front yard both came down.
Well this is how they look now. They have both been secured in a better way and have flourished but are not blooming too much but we are glad that we didn't lose them. You will also see our new Norfolk Pine Tree. We had a tree that had died so we wanted to replace it and I wanted to have the Norfolk Pine.

Can you guess what this picture is? Well I am going to tell you so you really don't have to guess. The kids had put their stuff in storage when they moved in and we also put some of our things in storage with them. (had to empty the rooms they are living in) So the storage unit was $70. a month and has been bumped up to $140. so we moved everything into our garage. As you can see I still get to have my car in there. So eventually they may sell some of their items. Anyway it is foolish to pay $140. a month for things that you can replace. Rather save the money and buy new!

So this is just my little gumball machine that sits on my counter top. I am only showing it to you because I wanted to tell you how much I miss the big gumball machine I use to have. I had it for years and bought it back in the 70's. It was yellow with a yellow unique metal base, it was awesome. When we moved a few years ago it got damaged and I had to let it go. We were not able to get replacement pieces for it. I am happy that I have this little one.
