60 IS THE NEW 40....

Well that's what I had in my comments last week! Well compared to years ago I think that is probably a safe statement to make. Just look at my grandparents back in the 50's. See my grandmother on the left, that is my vision of 60. Actually if I was about 8 in this picture my parents were probably close to 40 which would make my grandparents around 60. So I will accept that 60 is the new 40. No way my grandmother would have ridden the Tilt-a-Whirl like I did at the fair!

So I guess my birthday plate has been around for 60 years. Isn't it cute?

Look at these....I didn't even have to make these look old, they are naturally old!

Things have really changed!

I had a wonderful celebration yesterday. Amber & Dylan were home from their trip and Adam & Tristen came over. We hung out, had some margaritas, ate Lou Malnati's Chicago Pizza, along with some Portillo's Italian Beef sandwiches and a beautiful cake. (Mark fixed everything and I made some appetizers)

I received so many beautiful cards from family and friends. Amber and Dylan bought me a really cute Christmas ornament, a slice of pizza. Adam and Tristen bought me a Mickey Halloween Tree decoration. I got See's candy from Mark and Skye. When they asked me what I wanted for my 60th birthday I said "for all of us to go and see Wicked!" So on December 11th we will be going to the Pantages Theatre in Los Angels to see it. I am so excited! That is why we stayed home yesterday rather then go out to eat because we will be going to eat in Los Angeles after the matinee. We have pretty good seats too!

So today I accept the challenge of liking who I am and enjoying my 60's. I vow to make the changes in myself to become healthier and happier before I turn 61!

I have no plans today. I thought about going to a casino but Mark and I are actually going to Las Vegas next Monday so I think I better wait to gamble there. I do however have a strong desire to go swing so I may just have to get in my car and go to the park! Mark and I may go out to dinner tonight but we don't have any definite plans.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

Happy Birthday to you! 60 is just a number - you are doing way more than your grandparents did at 60 like the tilt a whirl! Things like that keep us young! So happy for you!

I just read an article that said if you live to be 60 you will more than likely live to be over 80...so congrats!! It also said that most 60 year olds start to re-invent themselves and continue to add to society with new and exciting ideas and inventions...so you go girl!!

I love the pics of you - you are adorable! And you're right..I cannot see my mother at my age doing anything I am doing ..and I'm glad I'm not where she was at my age!

Isn't it just wonderful to be where we are right now? I love myself and I know my weaknesses but I choose to focus on the positives..and I feel that's just perfectly OK :-)

We're showing a younger generation how to age...fully and...beautifully! Happy Happy Happy Birthday my friend!

Happy Birthday to you, beautiful Debby! Loved the pictures! And, girl...the tilt-a-whirl...now that's something!! I'm a little queasy just thinking about it! My friend Dinah used to say that you just reach a certain age of and you sort of stay that age in your head forever. I think mine is maybe 25. I will always be 25 in my head. (Even if the mirror tells a way different story!)

Much love to you!

Happy Birthday Debby!

When it comes to age I always try to think of this statement...

"How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?"

It's important to think young. And I think you do that! Enjoy your day!

Happy Birthday to you!!! Sorry I'm late...

Sounds like the perfect birthday to me. You are going to LOVE Wicked. My daughter chose that for her bday present 3 years ago. I didn't want to go because I don't like the Wizard of Oz and the theatre is just down the street from Childrens Hospital LA (where I lived for 3 weeks just months before) so I was worried about all of the memories. But, for my daughter I rose to the occassion and took her. To my surprise, I loved it. Absolutely LOVED it. I was the one that received the blessing that day because it validated all my feelings about feeling misunderstood in my grief. God definitely works in mysterious ways.

Hugs,
Trisha

Ok so if 60 is the new forty then ...40 is the new 20 so that makes me just 28 years old YEAH!!!!!!!!!! Those prices are so eye opening... The cost of homes alone has really skyrocketed.
Blessings, Joanne

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Deb! Sounds like you had a great day with fun birthday action ahead! I like your determination! We might as well take on the challenge and stay young at heart and mind. The boobs will still sag. :( I know what you mean about those old pictures; sixty really looked old then. Hollywood has changed that for us. I love it when I see an 80-year-old with jet black hair and red lipstick! lol Hey, take some good pictures of the Wicked trip in December. How fun!

LOVE LOVE the pizza slice that is a perfect ornament! And to go see Wicked all together is amazing!

I hope you got my card, and whenever my butt can make it to the PO I'll have a box out to you too ... :)

It's really true. People used to get old so much earlier than we do now. Thank goodness.

I couldn't quit smoking before I turned 40, but I did quit before I turned 41. There's something about those big numbers that really light a fire. I hope you enjoy your 60th year!!
