I can't think of a trip that ever ran so smoothly. Mark and I arrived at the Houston airport in the afternoon. Soon after we arrived Mark's sister Michele and her wife Pam arrived from Arizona.
An hour after that Mark's brother Jimmy and his wife Caprice from Chicago landed. Mark's brother Jeff, his wife Barbara and their two boys Nicholas and Hunter live in the Houston area.
The boys ran to pick up the big van that held something like 11 people!
Actually Mark's brother Jeff was also arriving from a trip he had taken and we were all able to stop off at a local hotel and grab a drink before we headed over to Mark's mothers house. She of course was waiting for us and she made a lovely spaghetti dinner for us. It was a perfect day.
The birthday cards she received.
Later that night Mark and I checked into a local Marriott for our 3 night stay. The other's stayed at my MIL's house. We decided to stay at the hotel because Adam and Gabby were coming in on Friday evening so it would work best if the four of us stayed there.
We hang out at mom's house during the day on Friday. Later that afternoon we drove to Jeff's house for a birthday BBQ. Friday was my MIL's 90th birthday. Her brother, his wife and his son who live in Austin also drove into town for the party. The BBQ was delicious!
Adam and Gabby were a surprise! Mark's brother Jeff sent a limo to pick up Adam and Gabby at the airport to bring them to his house. She was so surprised. I have a video but it doesn't want to work here for some reason. (Since Adam arrived late in the evening I made him the designated drive.)
Each morning when we arrived at moms house we would have some Bohemian Hoska that I made on Wednesday night before we left for the trip. Also Jimmy ran out on Friday morning and picked up what is known at Texas Kolache filled with sausage and egg.
On Saturday afternoon Mark and I joined Jimmy and Caprice for lunch at Pappasito's Cantina for some of the best Mexican food around!

On Saturday evening we had a dinner to celebrate Mom's birthday. We also celebrated Adams 39th birthday. We ate at Pappa's Seafood House which was excellent!!! Afterwards we went to her house to open cards and gifts.
Then she was surprised by having Amber on Skype to wish her a happy birthday too! (Dylan had to work) Amber got to talk to everyone which made this mom's heart very happy. I really missed having them with us.
I had salmon on a bed of sauteed spinach with shrimp, scallops and crab meat on top.
Adam and Gabby. I was checking the lighting on my phone and camera before I gave it to the waiter to take a few photos of the group......
A piece of chocolate birthday cake for Adam's birthday. I took some dessert to go!
I was looking at a sale at Crate and Barrel which is where I like to buy my collectible dish towels and came across this apple pie one. I decided to buy one for all the ladies to remember my MIL's 90th with the saying "Mom and Apple Pie."
Come Sunday morning we headed back over to Mom's house to hang for a few hours before we all had to head over to the airport. Our flights were all within a half our of each other and Mark, Adam, Gabby and I were all on the same flight.
When we arrived in Orange, CA we headed over to see the progress on Adam and Gabby's house. The outside of their house is now painted blue. They should be in the house in a few weeks. Gabby went home to work on a project she needed to complete for work while Adam, Mark and I went out for dinner before we headed home.
It was the most amazing weekend, something we will never forget!

How lovely that the weekend ran so smoothly. And it's always good to meet up with family.
I could do with an apple pie tea towel! I baked two large ones yesterday and today!!
it is really a small miracle that all those different flights worked so perfectly. and that is a lot of family to pull together at one time. i know Mark's mom was so happy. i saw the video on FB of her excitement when your son came in... the waiter did a great job with your camera..
Sounds like a busy but very fun trip. Pretty amazing that things went so smoothly at the airport not only when arriving but when leaving too.
Oh what a wonderful time you had! That took some GREAT planning on someone's part and I love the dish towel idea you came up with for the ladies. Happy 90 to your sweet MIL.
My goodness! What a joyful celebration and happy birthday to Vivian. That cake looks amazing. You had some good times with family and all the food sounds wonderful. So happy for you. The dish towels are terrific. I never knew that Crate and Barrel had these and they would make great gifts.
Sounds like a lovely celebration and that salmon dish looks absolutely amazing. Yum!
I was just thinking this morning that my Dad would have have been 92 this month if he hadn't passed away in 2006. Sometimes I envy other's whose parents are still with them but then I know he is in a better place so that helps.
I like to hear about family's all getting together like this. I know it was a fun time.

I'm so glad everything worked out the way it did for everyone. Vivian must have been over the moon!
Your pictures add so much "feel" to your posts, and I enjoyed reading the article about Texas Kolache ... yum!
Debby,
Thank you for sharing. I am so happy it all went so well. What a true blessing. Looking forward to Adams's home. What fun!

Wow! What a small world. I was blog hopping tonight and came across your sweet blog. Shocked to read you mention Orange, Ca. I lived there years ago and graduated from El Modena High in 1980. Still in Ca but a long way from Orange. blessings, jilly
My first job out of college was in Houston. They do have amazing food there. But it was too big of a city for me and the traffic was a nightmare. I wouldn't mind going back just to eat though!
I'm so glad you all had such a great time. Happy Birthday to your mother-in-law and Adam!!
