1. January 24th is National Compliment Day. Is it easy or not so easy for you to accept a compliment? Share a recent compliment you've given or received.
It has never been easy for me to accept a compliment but I will take all that I can get today. I only wish I would have appreciated myself earlier in my life.
We recently gave a compliment to Mark's brother and wife about their two boys who are so sweet and well mannered young men.
2. Ten little things you are loving right now.
I'm going with all the relatives we were with over the weekend in Houston who we don't get to see often at all. Vivian, Jeff, Barbara, Nicholas, Hunter, Jimmy, Caprice, Michele, Pam, Uncle Jim, Carolyn and Greg.
Another answer would be that I am loving that other than a few follow up doctor's appointments over the next 3 months my calendar is clear. We are loving the show Ozark on Netflix.
Love being back on track with healthy meals. Ever since Cancun in November followed by Thanksgiving and Christmas things went downhill the rest of the year all the way through this last weekend.
3. Would people describe you as a positive person? Do you see yourself that way? I read here a list/description of eight things positive people do differently-
Positive people find something to look forward to every day, they celebrate the small stuff, they're kind, they stay busy, accept responsibility for their actions, forgive themselves, know when to move on, and resist comparisons
Which action on the list would you say you do regularly? Which action could you add to your life to give you a more positive outlook? If you're a positive person, what's something you do regularly that's not on the list?
I would love to say I am a positive person but that's not true. I was the girl in Girl Scouts who would raise her hand about a camping trip coming up and ask "What if it rains?" However I must say that several items on that list do describe me! I do give positive uplifting advice to other's.
4. Homemade chicken soup, beef stew, or a bowl of chili...what's your pleasure on a cold winter's day?
A bowl of my homemade black bean chili would be my choice.
5. The best part of my day is....
Oh gosh, that would depend on the day but I do look forward to my evenings of Primetime TV. If I am physically up to it than that would be heading to the show before noon!

Where do they come up with all these little holidays. Today National compliment day. Yesterday was national pie day. I'm pretty sure most people don't even realize that most of them exist.
Cute cartoon! You have always been positive and uplifting to me and I thank you!
help i am laughing and i can't stop... my hot flashes would have done all those steps. to funny.
i find it very difficult to accept a compliment and today i was shocked when i managed to just say Thank you when i received one at the Y about my weight loss. I usualy say i still have a long way to go.
i do all the things listed on the positive list except forgive myself/resist comparisons. and i to am always the one to say what if it rains.. and have my whole life. i lean way over towards negative because I am realistic and KNOW that Murphy will hang around as much as he can
Your random thought gave me a good chuckle. :)
Blessings~
You and I tend to think alike... I'd be wondering "what if it rains?", too. Ha!
I really need to get back on track with eating, too. It seems that my clothes don't fit as well as they did before Thanksgiving and Christmas :(
Cute random thought!

Ha! That cartoon is perfect : ) I know what you mean about falling off the healthy eating train. I'm working to get back now, but it's harder getting on than off! Enjoy your day!
Oh, I would love a good recipe for black bean chili.
I love your cartoon, that's hilarious.
I hope you are doing well and have a wonderful week!
Debby, I find you to be a very positive blogging friend, and I do also wish you had learned to like yourself earlier because I think you are quite likable. So much in our early lives can be defeating and give us cause to doubt our worth. I was called "Bean Pole" by the cutest boy in our school and I carried that image around for a long time. Just not worth it! I am well past the hot flash period but can sure remember what it was like.
I got a nice compliment last weekend at Cort's dance recital, for a dress I was wearing. Compliments by a stranger always catch me off guard a bit.
I haven't seen you as a negative person in your blogs. You are always thankful. The cartoon at the end is so funny. It's been a long time since I had a hot flash, but I do remember hating them. And I was the one to ask the questions. My last boss saw that as a positive thing in that I was looking ahead to possible problems and solutions.
I was cracking up about the, 'What if it rains?' statement. LOL I would love to say I'm a positive person which is why I went with being a wanna-be positive person. Ha! Love the cartoon in your random! I wish I had appreciated myself during my younger years, too. I missed so much. I enjoyed the video on FB of your MIL's birthday! She doesn't look anywhere near being in her 90s.
OMG! I am laughing over your random thought!
Your random thought is TOO funny!
Like Sandra said, I think you (like me) aren't necessarily negative ... we're realists who don't much like surprises and want to be prepared.
Wait a sec. Isn't 'Be Prepared' something to do with scouts? :)
FUNNY cartoon at the end! And it made me smile to hear your recollection about your comment at Girl Scouts. Some kids are just like that. :-) And enjoyed your list of relatives. It's wonderful to spend time with them, isn't it.
God bless you.
I am going to give you a compliment today. You are so honest - and you tell people the truth. Both good and bad. You have been a good friend.
I think I'm great at handing out compliments, and not so great at accepting them. Isn't it terrible how hard women are on themselves?
I missed the hodgepodge this week, but enjoyed my visit with you today. Your cartoon was especially funny as my husband has teasingly threatened to roll me down the driveway!
Great answers Debbie. And, love the cartoon about hot flashes. How funny!
I've made a deliberate effort over the last few years to compliment people when I'm out and about - it's just such a nice moment of connection. And I love a random compliment from someone, even a stranger.
