1. Next Sunday is Grandparent's Day. Share a favorite memory, photo, recipe, or something you learned from a grandparent. 

My mother's mom was an excellent cook. My grandparents, after they moved to Florida, would come and spend the summer in our basement which was set up with a kitchen and bedroom and bathroom. I probably have recipe somewhere. 

She made the best pork, dumplings and sauerkraut along with the best chocolate chip cookies. 

That's Estelle and Jim. He was an alcoholic. 

We are Bohemian but modern day is called Czech Republic. 

My dad's mom was a great cook too. 

2. What's a quote from a book (besides The Bible) that has stayed with you? 

I do like "God helps those who help themselves" which is a proverb. 

3. What's your number one food pet peeve? 

I'm going to go with it taking longer to cook then I thought it would. 

4. What's one thing about you that is still the same as it was when you were young? 

Not feeling good enough about yourself. It's hard growing up in a house where your mother is an alcoholic. 

5. September is National Preparedness Month...does your family have an emergency plan? Do you have some sort of preparedness kit you keep on hand? If so, tell us one thing that's kept there. 

No, we really don't have an emergency plan but we should have one. I should have important things in one place that we could grab when we leave.

We went to Adam and Gabby's on Sunday. It was such a nice day. Adam, Gabby, James and Mark went swimming in the pool. Then they made a delicious dinner. 

Adam makes the best meatballs, absolutely delicious. We had meatball sandwiches and a beautiful salad. I should have take a picture.
