SHE LOVES ME, SHE LOVES ME NOT

She has to love me, I'm a lovable person, right? So why isn't she at my feet every moment of the day? Skye does seem to have her comfort zone, the family room. This is where she was first placed upon arrival to her new home. She does come into my office often to lay at my feet but I seem to want her to worship me every minute of everyday and not from afar. I want her to snuggle in my lap when I'm watching TV. Okay she is barely 5 months old and not into settleing down very often. She often runs into my office with excitement and I am beginning to understand that this means she has to go outside. See the hours do fly by when your sitting at your computer most of the day checking out your Facebook, Twitter and of course your blogspot, not to mention the fact that I am actually reading blogs most of the day. Okay ladies I am home all the time, an older woman with an empty nest, so how is it that you young ladies with children find time to do this? It consumes my day.

Okay back to Skye and potty training. She has been so good. Her only accidents have been our fault not hers. (but they still piss me off) So when we talked about how we would get her trained to go outside we had decided to try a bell on the door. (suggestion from several people) It actually works. She picked up on that very quickly, ring the bell, go outside, do your business and back inside to get a treat. Now we have days where she has just come inside and turns around and rings the bell again. So yes, sometimes she just rings the bell because she wants to be outside playing with the bees. So where do you draw the line. For the most part the bell really works. So here is the problem, I don't hear the bell from my office and I just don't feel like taking my laptop out to the family room/kitchen each day. So now I am sure that when she runs into my office with mischief in her eyes she needs to go out and when she comes into my office and just curls up at my feet she loves me, she really loves me.

I think that what I am feeling, compared to our other dogs, is the fact that when we had our other dogs we also had children. Didn't actually always pay attention to where the dog was. Now that I am home and the children have flown I got this puppy to keep me company and she is sleeping in the other room afar from me. From my lips/fingers to God's ears, Skye just came and laid down by my feet. She loves me :) Well now I can't get up and do my housework because I don't want to disturb the sleeping puppy at my feet. I guess I will just have to sit here and blog a little longer!
