This picture is from the fires in Southern California '08 taken from our backyard. The fire was North off the 91 Fwy and West of the 15 Fwy. At night you could actually see each house as they were burning down, glowing orange, and it was so sad.

i dont understand the tag thing but im going to comment on the fires
we have a cabin that was very close to the hayman fire here in colorado a few years back
we have some neat pictures after the fact
it was sad
we had a spark mark about the size of a half dollar on the second level deck, we are very lucky the fire didnt take our family cabin.
the fire stopped about 100 yards from the cabin
we ended up donating some of our land to the fire dept so they would have a base up in the mountains there. i feel bad for all who have to go thru this or have
Oh these fires are so tragic and heart breaking. Such an interesting photo to share. I cannot imagine being close enough to it to see the homes burning. What a frightening experience. laurie

Now, for your picture. I cannot imagine what it must be like to have to live through those awful fires. Your picture is so provocative.
My Maw McDonald's house caught fire when I was a little girl. We had to help fight the fire. I have been terrified of fires since. Just the thought is almost more than my emotional well being can handle.
I am so thankful the fires didn't get any close to you. I'm looking forward to getting to know a new friend.

Oh, and to all of you that were commenting on the scary factor of the fires? Once you've been evacuated by one of them, the rest, even when you can see them, are not nearly as scary. And I've learned what kind of stuff to pack so I'll have everything I need. Kids, financials, change of clothes, photos, and the quilt that my grandmother made. (That last item was the one that I left the last time we were evacuated and I freaked when I realized it.)
That is a beautiful picture but scary at the same time.
