We went to the casino twice. My son and daughter joined us the first time. Went to visit my son and his best girls new condo in LA. Daughter and son-in-law came over for an evening with him, along with Charlie. Visited the neighbors where my aunt had lived. (He had become close with them during the two years he helped her out) He went with me to bowling and turned red when the ladies were buttering him up with compliments. We stopped and ate at a place called Philly's Best on our way home each week. It's a delicious cheese steak sandwich which he can't get in Florida.
Each morning when I blogged he watched a movie. He really enjoyed that. Skye wouldn't leave him alone for a minute. (fresh playmate) We went to breakfast one day at Denny's and walked the local mall. We went to a place called Tom's Farm, shopped the stores and ate hamburgers. After a very delicious steak dinner last night (Saturday) we played poker and had a ball! He took off on Sunday morning. (He was excited to have a Carl's Jr. hamburger at the airport before his flight. They don't have them in Florida)
FYI: I spent so many years in tears in the past that I became hardened to crying. I had learned to turn my emotions off. Now with menopause they are showing up!

I'm so glad you got to enjoy your visit. I remember my last visit to California to see my grandmother (she was only 60 when she passed away and she was always more of a mother than anything to me). I cried to the whole first day after we left. I almost called off our honeymoon, so I could spend more time at her house! She wouldn't let me. :)
Time is so very precious!
this makes me want to cry too. It is way too hard watching people get older...
It's so nice to hear that you had a wonderful time with your father making nice memories. He actually reminds me of my grandpa who drove until he was 90! :-)
How nice to have a wonderful visit with your dad, Debby. I am sure you miss him now that he's back home but it's nice to know that you can still see him whenever. My dad is long gone and I do miss him a lot...Christine
I am sure he felt the same way as you did. So glad that you both got to do some great things to build even more memories between you two!
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
I think it's fabulous how close you are and I know too well how precious those moments are. I'm so glad you had a wonderful visit.
He looks far younger than his years, so it makes sense that his mind are spirit are young! :)
Just take all those sweet memories and tuck them away in a special place. So happy for you that you got to share these special moments with him!
Your dad does look good for his age. And I know-- my mother is nearing 70 and I hate seeing the changes in her, even though I knew they were coming.
Of course you're emotional about your daddy! I am, too, and I'm just 21! I always cry when we leave each other. I'm so happy you had a wonderful visit! Here's to many more!
my dad is in his mid-60s and his last visit when i looked at him he looked 'old-ish' to me. and even scarier - he looked like what i remember my grandpa (his dad) looking like, who died when i was 7
i don't like it
YOUR SADNESS WITH HIM MADE ME CRY TOO!
I KNOW IT IS HARD TO SEE YOUR DADDY GET OLD.
MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOU
IT IS SO NICE THAT YOU GOT TO ENJOY HIM SO MUCH
I AM ALWAYS HERE FOR YOU IF YOU NEED A SHOULDER TO CRY ON IN THE BLOG WORLD
visits like that are the greatest!
I bet it was so nice spending time with your dad! Wish he didn't have to go back!! Time really is precious!!
awww. i'm sorry that time passes so quickly. I'm glad that you had a great visit.
It is just never long enough! My mom and stepdad came in June for 2 weeks...I cried when it ended too...totally with you, girl!
Stay Strong & Cozy, Carrie
Glad you had a great time with your Dad. It is sad to have people leave. I still have a few tears to give since I am away from my Mom.
Wow! He looks great for 86! Great to hear that you had a good visit with him, but I'm sorry you're struggling with him aging. Hang in there.
I'm glad you enjoyed your visit!
Hope you have a great week.
I'm glad to hear you had a great visit.Treasure your time with your Dad.I still miss the times I spent with mine.
What a sweet post - I am so glad that you had a wonderful visit with your Dad. Those bonds are so precious.
It is OK to cry and let out that real emotion - I hope you embrace it for it is your love for you father shining through!
He's so cute! Glad you had a good time!
He's doing really well! My mother is 86 and declining fast. It is so very sad and hard to watch. My dad dropped dead suddenly at age 76. I now know God was merciful both to him and to us. He didn't linger (would have hated that!) and we didn't watch him suffer.
looks like u had fun! time does go by fast enjoy all those moments :)
Awwww! Time is precious, isn't it? Glad you had such a wonderful visit with your dad. He totally does not look 86! Glad his mind and spirit are still going strong - which is probably what's keeping him 'young'! :) My FIL is 87 - he looks young for his age, too, though he's starting to slow down and his age is starting to show. It's not easy seeing that happen. ((HUGZ!!))
Glad you had a good time together. Visits like that mean so much. Thanx for sharing.

I wish we had a picture of him blushing at bowling-so cute!
Debby now I'm crying! What a beautiful post I'm so happy you had the opportunity to have him stay for 2 weeks. I'm just loving that picture of the two of you. BEAUTIFUL!!
My Great Grammie lived by herself until she was 99! I little spunk and you can do it!
This post was precious. Your Daddy looks like a nice man - something around the eyes. Crying isn't a bad thing although my easy tears frustrate me sometimes.
I'm thankful you had a good time.
Oh Sweetie- this is the best post! You are so blessed to have such a man in your life and there's nothing ever like a Daddy :-)
Looks and sounds like you all had a great time. He's handsome and strong and enjoy every minute you get to spend..the tears are just your missing him in liquid form - take care :-)
It sounds like the two of you had a fantastic time. I hope you will get to see him soon again.
Oh Debby...What a blessing to have your Daddy there...what a sweet man. I am, so happy to finally see your beautiful face...I just spent 3 days in Chicago with my Mama. And, when dropping her at Midway Airport, for her flight back to Tennessee...I felt overwhelmed having to leave her.
Hugs Sweet Friend.
enjoy every moment you can with your dad! my wonderful dad died when i was 19, but i am thankful that he has helped watch over my children as they grew up!
It sounds like such a nice visit and I'm so happy for you! The photo of you and your dad is just lovely :) Thanks so much for sharing that with us.
