So I know this is boring but I am excited right now about my cooking adventures. I made another recipe from Make It Fast, Cook It Slow by Stephanie O'Dea. I made the Basic Chili that is on page 119. I substituted black beans for the kidney beans because I have a love affair with black beans. (don't tell my husband) I also added a can of Ortega diced green chilies because my husband adores them.
This was the best chili I have ever had. A+ in my book!
A little cheese and sour cream to garnish
We celebrated my husbands birthday on Sunday with the kids. We had brownies and ice cream. I also made a double batch of Rice Krispies Treats so my kids could take some home with them.
The kids gave my husband a day of horseback riding with all of us because he wants to be a cowboy when he grows up. (he better hurry) So my son made up this page for the gift and put my husbands photo on the head of this cowboy. It was so funny we all had a good laugh over it. He didn't even notice that it was his head at first which made us all laugh even harder.

A sneak pick at some Christmas P.J.'s (fashion show)

Next will be Cowboy Stew which I will make on Wednesday for his birthday. This recipe is on page 189 in the Cookbook and was contributed by my friend Headless Mom.
It was a great weekend. Hope you had a good one too.

I can't wait to try the regular chili. Perfect week for it!
No matter how good chili tastes, it is definitely challenged in the looks department! And cheese and sour cream? Hm, pass on that. And how your husband doesn't know about your affair? Does he have olfactory problems?
